    Instapark Betta review

Orion - My Betta is going strong also. Have been very happy with it overall since receiving it this summer. Fortunately or unfortunately we don't close pools here in AZ, so I'll deploy mine throughout the winter. Just be careful when charging yours in the sun; the company warns against doing...

    Can't Get Water Chems Balanced

Unless you are using an electronic pH tester, your pH reading is likely elevated due to the high FC. You can add a little muriatic acid, but really I would focus on ending the SLAM. You're done with SLAM once you pass the 3 criteria that @Texas Splash mentioned in post #13.

New Pool - Need help balancing!

Great job thus far! If you're concerned about water loss caused by vacuuming, you can simply resort to brushing the steps. This will 1) relocate the dead algae and dirt to a place in the pool where the robot can get it and 2) improve water circulation: you want all of that good chlorine moving...

Remember that frequency is for the winter. In the summer it will be daily, or at least every other day.

Salt Cell Scaling After Less Than One Year

Thanks everyone for the expert advice I've come to expect here. What a great forum! I took apart the cell today and rinsed out as much scaling as possible with the nozzle attached to my garden hose. I then tried some ice cream sticks and some plastic tools that weren't designed for cell...

Salt Cell Scaling After Less Than One Year

No; at least I don't believe so from this picture. I actually had the house shutoff valve moved up so that I could control both house water and irrigation water independently. But based on this picture I do not believe a water softener tied into my home's water softener loop will soften the...

Salt Cell Scaling After Less Than One Year

Thanks Gene! I'll give that a shot but historically that's been a tough number to hit with our fill water. Good tip I last drained in March of 2020. Yes, last time I tested my fill water it was CH 190, TA 130. I'm guessing we desert dwellers all had an above average rise in CH last summer...

Salt Cell Scaling After Less Than One Year

Hi Folks, My Circupool RJ-45 has been installed for 11 months now and I really like it thus far...except for the significant scaling I'm starting to see on the cell. I have been trying to keep my CSI negative, but with my CH approaching 700 it's becoming pretty difficult to do. I am not...

    Instapark Betta Automatic Pool Skimmer

Thanks. I just looked at the manual again and it recommended cleaning the solar panels, so I will try that and see if runtime improves.

    Instapark Betta Automatic Pool Skimmer

Mine's been going pretty strong since about that time as well, maybe a bit earlier. The past couple of days, however, I noticed that the Betta does not make it through the night (red lights flashing). The red lights also flash until about 9AM and then it gets going again. Do you think this...

    Buildup on SWG

Wondering why the OP had scaling on his cell with such a negative CSI?

CYA high SWG - How did I get here?!

Placing the submersible pump in the deep end and filling in the shallow end (with a garden hose) minimizes this. No worries. If you require the pump to be running (since you have a SWCG) you will need to drain/refill at the same time, as the pump will run dry if the water level goes below the...

CYA high SWG - How did I get here?!

I'm not familiar with fiberglass pools as far as how they hold up in the summer heat after being half-drained. You could go with a "simultaneous drain and fill" approach; some ideas are mentioned in this thread, and many others on the forum. If you chose to maintain a higher FC level until the...

    Can Salt Concentration Go up?

This was pretty much the approach I ended up using. I pumped a inch or so out, fill it back up (either with the garden hose or the rain we've been getting) then rinsed and repeat. Pulled out the K-1766 this morning and I'm down to 3400. Thanks everyone.

    Can Salt Concentration Go up?

Thanks James! My lot is pretty flat (no opportunity for siphon) so I think I will try the "drain and simultaneous fill" approach. Issue with that method it's difficult to tell how much water one has replaced. I guess if I knew the GPH of my pump, and I filled such that the water level...

    Can Salt Concentration Go up?

Thanks James. I have an el cheap Harbor Freight submersible pump that I believe is 1/6HP (bought years ago and no markings on the pump). HF's website has current 1/6HP pumps that claim a maximum of 1600 GPH but I really doubt my pump pulls nearly that much.

    Can Salt Concentration Go up?

Thanks @mknauss and @Newdude. Never was aware that fill water and MA added salt. Note: I haven't added LC since installing the SWG last fall. PoolMath says drain 12% of my water to hit 3700. Although I have a pebble-tec pool, which is supposed to be immune to draining in the summer here in...

    Can Salt Concentration Go up?

I have been testing my salt content monthly with my K-1766, and until a few months ago it's been pretty stable at 3800 ppm. I have a Circupool RJ45+ so this is right where I want to be. Lately however it's been creeping up. I tested it today, after having been away for 2 weeks, and it's at...

    Instapark Betta review

I haven't had to send mine back yet, but what's the process if I do? Who pays for shipping, and do I need to get a box?
  25. DanF

    Which salt to buy ?

What Mark said above. I'd add half of what you need, then test when your test kit arrives. Then add half of the reminder, and so on. Remember also we just got a ton of rain (in Valley terms), so take that extra volume into consideration if appropriate.

    FC at Zero today!

Sounds like a good plan to me. Then you will want to ensure that your SWG is maintaining your FC; this entails knowing your daily FC consumption and the run time/% needed to accommodate that. Did you ever find out why your FC dropped in the first place?
  28. DanF

    FC at Zero today!

I see bubbles from my returns, but only when my pump is running on low speed (1725 rpm). At high speed (3450 rpm) I don't see them. I'm betting you won't need to SLAM. You might just need to get the FC up quickly with LC and let the SWG take over again.

    FC at Zero today!

Ok well your numbers look good, although I might bump up your CYA to 70 or 80 especially in the summer. Do as Marty suggested in post #3 and let us know.
