Need help with pool anchors for umbrellas/volleyball/basketball?

I put something like these in for volleyball. They are bronze and are not supposed to rust, even with salt. Aluminum will eventually corrode with salt from my research. I can't remember where I got them, but these say they are for pavers. The ones I got were for cement. I would put them half way...

    What to do after mouse?

It's not the best looking thing, but it works. Sometimes, it gets some debris on it, but it's worth it to me not having to remove dead things as much. And, it's not breaking the bank. I got the two pack, but only have one in the pool, so I have a spare when this one gets gross(dirty, faded).

First-timer closing AG pool -- pillows YAY or NAY?

My last pool was an AGP and I always used the pillow. However, my next door neighbor had an AGP as well and never used the pillow. Both our pools survived the same climate as yours. I liked the pillow because I would position it a little off center, so the rain water would collect near the side...

Thanks to TFP for great 1st season

I second that gratitude to this site. I found it over a year ago during our pre-build/build. The pool was a big investment for us, and I knew it needed to be taken care of. My kids/wife would make fun of me when I pulled out the TF-100 nearly every night the first month or two. But, then, they...

I Don't Want to Lower My AGP Water for Winter?

When I had an AGP, I had a skimmer with a "Tupperware" lid that attached inside the pool, so I didn't lower the water. I unhooked the two lines(suction and return) and left the bottom of the skimmer open for any water drainage(Rain/snow). I also covered the top of the skimmer with a piece of...

Caulking Expansion Joint in New Pool (1st Winter)

I don't think it will fill with water because the foam has holes in it to drain the water, so no issues with ice. My only issue with the foam this first season is with small pieces of cement that stuck to the foam and then detached and ended up in the pool. They immediately settled to the bottom...

Caulking Expansion Joint in New Pool (1st Winter)

Our pool was new in May and I still have the foam expansion joints in. I plan on waiting at least a year to put in the Mastic. Going to give it plenty of time for settling of the concrete and pool. If you do it now and the pool and or concrete settles, then the Deck o Seal will separate and...

    CH test

Forgot to mention that the pool fill water is after the softener.

    CH test

I have the same issue. My sample will look like it turns blue while on the SmartStir, but if I hold it up to the light, it is like lavender. I have to keep adding drops to get a true blue. This is our first season with this pool too, and I can't imagine my CH is that high. I take a sample in to...

    Plaster Finish Lines

Sorry to hear about your plaster issues. Could you post some pictures of the lines and also the spongy areas. If there's spongy areas on Day 8, then I would be more concerned with that then the lines. Our plaster was solid on Day 1, even though we didn't get in for a week. Just feeling the sides...

    Jandy Aquapure SWG

Same SWG and builder here. My display was also reading higher than the K-1766 test. PM said to go by the display, but it was clear he didn't know much about the SWG. He started putting salt in the deep end and it was harder to brush it in. In the paperwork he handed me, Line 1 said to dump salt...

    Active 30i vs Warrior SE

There's definitely a problem with that cord. I would contact Marina or Maytronics and show them that picture of the tangled cord

    Active 30i vs Warrior SE

Before your next run, try untangling the cord before you plug it in. I would put the robot in at the far end of the pool and then unscrew the cord from the power supply. Then, I would twist the cord in the direction that gets rid of any twists. Now, when you plug it back in to the power supply...

Newbie, need help with new timer

If that current timer is keeping the correct time(look at the silver arrow in the middle, does the yellow wheel spin with time?), then all you would need to get it operational is two screw-on trippers to turn power on and off like this...

    Water Level Mystery

I'm also in PA and when that storm hit, the rain almost immediately raised my level to near the top of the coping. Luckily, we didn't have any long lasting power outages, so I was able to drain from the hose bib at the pump. You must have an auto drain located at the top of your skimmer...

    Thanks Ida

Sorry that happened to you. It was not a "pool newbie" mistake. Hopefully, that is only a 15 year storm for you. Did the PB ever give any indication that that could happen? Same builder here, and that never came up. I got lucky. Our pool sits high in the yard and everything flows away. Could you...

    Leaf issue from neighbor tree

How about asking the neighbor if you could take the tree down entirely? You would probably have to pay to take it down, but at least the leaves will not be an issue anymore. You could also replant another tree in their yard away from the pool to be "environmentally correct".

Cloudy Pool after conversion to SWG

The salt that you added could be contributing to the cloudiness. Some salt is "dirty". My pool also got a little cloudy for the couple days that I was adding salt. I would run the pump 24/7 for a couple days, to mix the salt and to remove any impurities from the salt.

    Tanning Ledge Question

My tanning ledge is kept clean/refreshed with filtered water supplied through a return. If you feed your “waterfall” from the ledge with a return, if/when your pump is off, your ledge would drain. You would have to keep the pump running 24/7 to keep the ledge full.

Dolphin Impeller Constantly Clogs With Hair

Could it be that the filters you were using are clogged up. Maybe not from visible debris. I always rinse my filters before they dry. Could your filters have dried out while dirty and now the only way for water and dirt/hair to move is through the sides of the filter and to the impeller...

    Taylor R-011L

Is the metals interference process adding 5 drops of #12 first? I tried that and same result. I am using the SmartStir and just leave it on the whole time. So, I should turn it off when I think I'm near the endpoint?

New Pool - lots of problems

How do you sanitize your pool? I see a tablet feeder. Is that empty? Do you use liquid chlorine?

    Taylor R-011L

Same trouble here. I've had trouble with that test from the beginning of the season. My final change from red to blue has never been complete. Mostly goes to lavender. And then it takes about 10-12 additional drops to get to blue. I'm sure my CH is not that high. Always seems like that drop is...

    Animals in the pool.

Every morning before I leave for work, I check the pool and each skimmer. Frogs and mice are the only things I've found so far, and I don't want them sitting in the pool all day. Also, I don't want my family finding those. I have put in a "Frog Log" and it has helped greatly. Prior to putting...

What's the best way to test water hardness

Thanks Jim. I'm much more confident now knowing about the color change. I'm not in front of my testing equipment now, but I thought the hardness test result was 25X each drop. I'm using 10ml pool water. I believe the TF-100 calls for 10ml pool water, 10 drops #10, 3 drops #11, and drops of #12...

What's the best way to test water hardness

Jim, I am using the TF-100 to test for calcium hardness. My issue is when my sample does look like it turned blue on the SmartStir, if I hold the sample up to the light in the room, it is lavender. I have to add like 10 more drops to get it to turn blue in the light off the SmartStir. I'm...

    Questions about closing pool

Yes, although the skimmer lid I used was the "tupperware" lid type that was designed with my skimmer, not an aftermarket skimmer plug like Dude mentioned. Hopefully, your skimmer has the lid that just snaps on.

New Gunite Pool, chlorine tab placement and heater bypass

Mike, I have gone through the same process as you a couple months ago. I found TFP during our build and then, once startup happened, there was the uncertainty of which to follow, pool company or TFP. They were close, but there was some inconsistencies. Mostly, the FC from the pool company was...
