    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

Just a few updates...I decided to remove the sand and inspect the laterals. The sand level seemed fine and I haven’t noticed sand in the backwash or anywhere else. I’ve attached a pic of the sand level before I emptied it. I found one lateral with a very small hole (pic attached). I replaced...

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

I’ve got a pool store a few miles away so I’ll see what quality sand they have and hope it’s not insanely expensive. Home Depot is the next closest place.

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

Yeah I’ve read that link in the past. Unfortunately it was so long ago I don’t remember the specifics. I’ve had crystal clear water every year until now so I think the sand was fine. I’m leaning towards a broken lateral at this point since the sand was much lower than I expected. I’m taking it...

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

It was regular pool store sand. It was put in 5-6 years ago so I don’t recall the brand. But it was just regular pool sand, nothing special.

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

I checked it about 2-3 weeks ago. Opened it up and did the cleaning procedure. The sand itself seemed fine and I moved it around a bit with the hose. My only concern was the amount of sand in the filter since it seemed low. It was below the halfway point, but I put the recommended 300 pounds in...

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

Ok, so some updates on this over the past few weeks. I had the water tested for metals at the pool store and copper and iron came back at 0.00. I noticed some water passing through the SWG when the filter was in backwash/waste/rinse so I installed a new handle assembly. Water flowing properly...

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

I've been checking it daily up until yesterday. I went from 37.5 to 37, 36.5 on down to 32 today. It's been a span of 5 days though I did skip testing yesterday.

Just checked everything again and the sight glass and return side of the SWG is clear. Here's some pictures and one of the pond I'm dealing with.

    Water Clarity/Sand Filter Help

Hi All, I need some major help with my pool. I've had a green pool over the winter due to equipment changes and then a delayed shipment on chlorine pucks. Due to the pandemic, bleach was too hard to find last summer/fall so I used pucks to keep the chlorine in check. Once the CYA got to...

    Tablets/ pucks vs chlorine

Liquid chlorine is best. I used pucks before finding this site but will never go back. As for amounts of chlorine to use, take a look at Pool School, make sure you have an adequate test kit and use the calculator to determine how much chlorine to add. As far as the items they sold you...I'd...

I have wedding cake stairs and it's been great for the two years I've had them. The middle step holds 50 pounds of sand and I've had no issues with it moving at all. Our liner was put in right before we bought the house so I couldn't add steps either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Update to my previous post. I listed BJ's as a source of 12.5% bleach but...I had to return 24 gallons. When I was pouring it in the pool I didn't notice any smell at all. Put my nose to the jug and still didn't smell anything. I had a shirt I accidentally bleached so I grabbed it and poured...

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

Current finds in central NC: BJ's - 12.5% (4 gallons @ $13.99) Walmart - 10% (2 Gallons @ $6.44. "Pool Essentials Chlorinating Liquid") Aldi - 8% (1/2 Gallon @ $1.39). I'm constantly on the hunt for the best liquid chlorine prices due to my business and maintaining my pool. I'll keep this...

    2016 bleach prices

Here in central NC I think the Walmart 10% price of $2.50 is going away. I was able to pick up 15 gallons a few weeks ago but I caused chaos at checkout. Luckily for me, the price tag on the shelf showed $2.50 but the registers were ringing up at $3.68. They honored the $2.50 price. I did...

    Solar Covers

If you're not already doing so, keep the solar cover on at night. It will keep the warm water trapped in the pool until you can take it off during the day for a swim.
