    Quick Laars/Jandy heater question.

Moved into house with 20 year old Laars heater. It works fine but in my old house, my Hayward heater dial would click when it was at temperature that I wanted. The dial on the Laars one just turns with no click. Is the dial defective or is that how they are? If so, How do I know what to leave...

Finally have water in...do I have a leak?

Finally put water in the pool and everything seems ok but I am concerned (probably like most DIY builders!) that I am leaking water. The dealer that sold me my kit sent a Hayward sand filter with a 1.5 inch hose connection but the rest of my piping and equipment including heater is all 2 inch. Is this normal? Do I get some sort of reducer?? Help!! Thanks!

    Backfill question

Just about to order my backfill material for my steel walled in ground pool. I was planning on getting in sand but based on all the research I have done, 3/4 washed gravel seems to be the best choice. I was wondering if I should get round or chipped. Will chipped hurt or show through the...

    Plumbing question...

More than half way through my self build and just finished digging all my trenches for my returns. I am pretty much sloping down to the pool for all my lines but there is a few spots where I would slope up just a little bit from the pump and then back down to the pool. I hope this makes sense...

    Excavation question

Hello: I have an excavator coming this week to help with my DIY build. Most material I have read has said to over excavate the bottom 2 to 3 inches of the deep end to allow for concrete or whatever bottom material I go with. The question I have is do I over excavate the shallow end as well...
