Notes on my Intex Ultra Frame 18x9x52 setup

The rainy season is starting, and no significant increase in debris coming into the pool. However, along with my automated top-up system there's some over-filling of the pool, due to the rain. I just installed a nice little Rain Sensor, set to inhibit my top-up timer-valve when rainfall exceeds...

Well, there's good news and bad news: GOOD NEWS: Yes, the whole thing submerges and does a really good job. BAD NEWS: It only lasted two days. Great idea but poorly constructed and implemented. There are other more expensive units, but the reports and reviews are largely the same. (leakage...

Just received this great little pool vacuum. A heck of a lot easier than rolling out the big hose, purging and hooking up to the skimmer. Quick and easy to deploy and stow:

Was a long weekend here (4-days, Easter Weekend), Latest addition over the weekend was the four kerosene Flambeaux behind the waterfall. I have them filled with a mixture of kerosene and citronella oil. The open flames add a nice inviting touch to the lighting scene, while the citronella tends...

And the deck build is well advanced. Sanding and sealing today, then the siding around the pool and the bar top. Some prelim pics, while we play with ideas, chopping and changing as we continue the build:

Just shy of four months into this pool thing and the sand-filter is now showing signs of needing a backwash, as evidenced of the pressure gauge residing in the yellow zone and the return jet visually less aggressive. I did not like the idea of wasting good saltwater and a bunch of chemicals from...

It is now two months to the day since I started-up my pool. This morning I got the "Low Salt" warning (code 91), so I will implement a monthly routine of the following: Great tip that I took one step further since I have a small ultrasonic cleaner bath in my shop. So I added the vinegar to the...

Yup, it's "summer" here year round!:) What really freaks out visitors is the fact we've got "voice control" over the entire house, including the pool systems, I really get a kick seeing their faces when I say "Alexa, turn on filter-pump", "Alexa, turn on waterfall" or "Alexa, play some Carlos...

There are two parts a sending unit (on outside wall of the vinyl liner) and the LED light unit (inside wall of the vinyl liner and submerged). Three strong magnets keep them married. Power is inductively coupled between the two (no physical electrical connection between the two). A 25' cord...

This pool has been so very easy to maintain. Pool maintenance thus far: 1) During the Friday nite swim, Jack Daniels and myself would lightly scrub the waterline (scum-line) with a 3M scrubber (about a minute and a half) 2) Early Saturday morning, armed with a fresh mug of carefully brewed...

Thanks for your comments! Loving that pool already! Can't wait for the deck, then I can work from out there with my laptop. Yes on the wall! ...woke up one morning with a bright idea, opened-up AutoCAD and started pulling a few spline-curves, when I saw the final drawing, I just had to do it...

....and, now it's on to building the L-shaped deck. 2"x 3" Steel I-beam (overkill, but it's cheaper and faster here) with wood planks (probably teak). A work in progress but I am pretty happy with the outcome, and I can use the pool in the meantime!

I'm down in the Caribbean and always wanted a pool. Recently, while doing some much needed renovations, I sprang for the pool.
