    2005 D1 rebuild

Sorry to leave everyone hanging in suspense, I know how you all look forward to hearing my adventures. 🤪 So... the Balboa retrofit kit from PSS is also on backorder. Covid strikes again! I am putting this one on the back burner for now and moving on to the next one in line. I will...

Bullfrog plug and play 120v to 240v

Dipswitch A2 on as well as A4. This will allow the heater to run with the jets on high. I assume you are on a 50 amp breaker? It may trip the breaker if not. By removing the jumper and wiring up 240v you have already converted the heater. Post a picture of the circuit board so I can verify pump...

Slippery when wet, that's how it will turn out. I would use something with some traction.

    TFP Meet the Expert!

Sorry I missed it. I didn't get word until 9 last night and had prior obligations. I do appreciate the invitation and would love to be in the loop on the next one. Where do I find this video?

Patching holes on Bestway Helsinki hot tub?

Nope. Sorry, I have never seen one. They make a vinyl patch kit for air mattresses and rafts that is sold in the camping section at Walmart. That might work for a while, but isn't going to like poor chemistry any more than a pool liner patch does.

UPDATE: Incorrect Wiring? -- New Bullfrog Spa keeps tripping breaker

Back to the main panel in your house or to the disconnect with the gfci breaker? If the whole thing back to the main panel is #8 you have to measure all of it. But regardless, it's time to unplug the ozonator and see what it does for a few days. There are a few spa brands that come standard...

UPDATE: Incorrect Wiring? -- New Bullfrog Spa keeps tripping breaker

60 amp breaker requires bigger wire, so you can't just swap out breakers without risking a house fire. You would have to change the wiring too. That wire looks like #8awg which is rated for 50 Amps on runs LESS THAN 100ft to the main panel. Undersized wire will cause nuisance tripping...

UPDATE: Incorrect Wiring? -- New Bullfrog Spa keeps tripping breaker

It's a gfci breaker. They also have gfci receptacles and cord ends. Gfci stands for "ground fault circuit interrupter". Your original hot springs will have used 2 breakers, a 20 amp and a 30 amp. Your bullfrog will have a single probably 50 or 60 amp breaker and correspondingly bigger wires. If...

So I went with salt, and now I have a leak

Manufacturing defect. If not on a functioning gfci it could be a shorted heater, since that is your ground as well. If your salt cell is leaking voltage to the water it would also show up there. Since it is on the load side of a transformer it would not have gfci protection even if plugged in to...

Stand-by mode not working most of the type for Hydropool Swim Spa

Yeah, they are pretty backed up. I just waited a week to hear from them about a parts availability question, but they did answer. Tech support might be even farther behind. Balboa (geckos leading competitor) has stopped answering their tech support lines and now require emails. It seems to be an...

Stand-by mode not working most of the type for Hydropool Swim Spa

That is odd. I am just familiar enough with the newer gecko controls to dislike them, but am not an expert. Have you contacted gecko? They may have more answers than the spa dealer or manufacturer.

So I went with salt, and now I have a leak

Play as dumb as you like, an experienced tech will know. If the manufacturer request a return on the part they will know. That said, there is no reason to suspect salt as the culprit, especially after such a short time. And leaks at the weld of a mounting stud are so rare as to be unheard of. I...

    Ms lady

Your ozononator injection system will make bubbles without leaking. Are you sure you have a leak? Most leaks are in the equipment area. It is safe to use IF it is properly wired and you don't let it get too low.

    Vacation spa question

I have done spa maintenance at vacation rentals. Some are meticulously well maintained by the owners and others are a $15 stop on a day of 35 stops for a guy like me. $15 doesn't buy you much, and when I have 30 more stops to do not much is what you get. I travel with my Taylor kit and test...

    My Spa dealer says...

Most manufacturers have that exclusion. As far as I know it is spills that are the issue. Drop a little granules on the edge, no big deal, but spill 12% bleach down the side and you might have a problem. Same goes for muriatic acid.

DIY Hot Tub, 750 gallons, Questions and Build Updates

The smartest thing I've heard in this thread. It must be gfci protected. Ok @Dirrby. Are you a bricklayer? Pool builder? Dam engineer? Do you know if your cinder block wall is going to hold back all that water? What are you building it on? Can it support 3 tons of water without...

    Ozone and Sanitation

You will want to watch your cya when using dichlor. Switch to bleach at 30ppm. Since dichlor is nearly half cya, once you have added 30ppm of chlorine you will have reached the recommended level of cya.

Problem with Spa Controller or Controller Panel

It should be a pretty simple swap. And I agree with your spa guy about ACC. Many parts are on backorder right now as a result of covid shutdowns. The factories haven't been making any, and the warehouses are running out of stuff. You can certainly try to find it yourself, most likely your guy...

How long does it take to heat your spa?

That's because you posted it on a different forum. I've been waiting for the pics, but I need to see the wiring connections at the breaker too. You will have to remove the faceplate, there is usually a screw at the bottom. Turn off the main breaker in the house before removing. For the record, a...

Is it safe to add 1-2 oz of 12.5% bleach with people in tub in middle of tub and jets on full?

Well, technically speaking it is "safe" to get 12.5% bleach on your skin. Soaking in it for long periods might be another story, but I've worn it many times over the years. I'm pretty sure I survived.🤪 Whether you will enjoy the experience is another story... This might be what mps is good for...
