Cloudy and getting greener- help please?

Thanks for the advice guys. We've added muriatic acid to start getting the pH down and we have pointed all the nozzles up so they are breaking the surface. We've got a pressure washer spraying water into the pool to act as a "fountain" and help create some aeration. I also had this thing that...

Cloudy and getting greener- help please?

Hey guys, we have an in ground pool (approx 25000 gal). Last year we switched from Bacqua to chlorine using the BBB method. This year opening the pool was a breeze and it was sparkling clean for a few months. I have been raving about TFP forums ever since! It was so much better than using the...

Not as good as a time lapse but a slideshow of conversion!

It was this gross white scum that would happen every time we added bleach during the first night. It was really gross!

FC is up to 6 and CC is holding at .5. CYA has been in the socks all day but still not reading on the tester. I wanted to show yall this ingenious device my husband rigged up for me. All that getting down on the concrete to test the water was killing my knees so my husband made me a scooper...

Allrighty-- new sand is in and multiport is being re-assembled. FYI so someone doesn't make the mistake I just made-- Home Depot sells pool filter sand that comes in .5 cu.ft. I had to guess at the weight and of course I guessed wrong and had to go back for more. Those bags (with a blue...

And away we go!!! Started conversion tonight. Lots of PIPs

There are a lot of these size clumps of goo... not as bad as others I've seen on this forum. Here's what it looks like inside-- And here's how we are keeping the sand from the main drain-- I covered it in Saran Wrap, then put one of my son's Nuby sippy cups ($1 at Walmart) over the pipe...

And away we go!!! Started conversion tonight. Lots of PIPs

How do you suggest disposing of all this sand? Just dump it in the woods beside our house? I don't guess it's good for a sand box for my son, huh? :) I'm about to run to HD or Lowes and get new sand while DH does the dirty work outside. I'll look for CYA there too. Thanks for all your...

Allrighty, guys, we are ready to change our sand. Husband wants to get this done today while he can-- question- how much sand is needed for our pump? We have a Hayward Vari Flow XL Sand filter. I'm searching online and not finding any info. :/ ALSO-- the guys at the pool store told my...

How to clean Polaris 360 and tubing to remove baqua?

Any tips on how to clean our Polaris? He's been sitting on the side of the pool since the conversion started. Should we take him apart and spray with 10:1 water/bleach solution or just mix it in a bucket and let him soak? What about the tubing?

Going to start the conversion this Sunday

WOW at the baquagoo! I'm anxious to see what the inside of our sand filter looks like. The pressure has stayed relatively low so I don't think it will be that bad. We hadn't added any chemicals to our pool for more than 2 weeks before we started our conversion so our baquagoo battle has been...

And away we go!!! Started conversion tonight. Lots of PIPs

For the past two nights FC is 15 at 11 pm, and by the next morning at 6 am we are down to 10. So are we just in a holding pattern until it holds overnight at 15? We are dying to swim in it so we are going to trek to my parents pool across town instead. It's so tempting because it looks...

Much better than 2 nights ago. We can barely make out the pool drain now, which is something we've never seen from above water before. Checking FC levels every few hours tonight, and they seem to dip down to about 10-13 within a few hours after raising to 15.

6:00 pm Friday July 2 levels FC: 13 CC: 3 PH: 7.4 Photo from this evening, not much change from this morning: And just as a guideline here is what and FC of 13 looks like on an OTO test kit, in case anyone is starting out with just that kit like I did! Look how orange that is!

Here is a pic as of 4:30 this afternoon. It was the first time I've added chemicals and not seen any type of reaction (aka yellow plume of yuckiness) in the water. I take this as a sign of making progress. We've also lost a lot of the green and it's gone more to a milky blue color. :goodjob:

Should I add baking soda to raise the alkalinity or just not worry about it for now? Since our PH level is ok but on the high side I don't want to add the baking soda and raise the PH up. What do you guys think?
