Pool Math Min / Max Parameter Changes?

Many thanks. I ask only because if there were changes I want to be certain I'm following current guidelines. Thanks again, Lyman

Thank you both! Do you know if there have been any changes to the Min / Max parameters in Pool Math since last year? Best, Lyman

Pool Math Min / Max Parameter Changes?

Greetings!! Recalling a 10" snowstorm on May 10th circa 1978 I'll roll the dice and say it anyway - thank God that Winter is gone and it's nearing the time to setup the pool. It's been a long, cold Winter here in the Northeast. Couple of quick questions. Have the Min / Max parameters for Pool...

    FC >10 And pH

Good morning, With FC being >10.0 the pH reading is for all intents and purposes unreliable, correct? Thought I had seen that mentioned here. Thank you, Lyman

Thanks Sir. What's the wait time on swimming after adding Liquid Stabilizer? Again, thanks! Lyman

    Taylor CYA Test

Greeetings All, I found this post by OTPirate going back to 2018. Is this still a valid procedure, particularly what a CYA of 50 should look like? Best, Lyman "The CYA standard is so you can adjust yourself to the standard, not the other way around. I trust the chemists at Taylor Technologies...

All Chlorine On The Planet Gone...

Thanks! I was searching for Chlorine. This is Shock which I have (12.5%) although likely degraded somewhat by now. Can I not use that? Also, they state a 2 - 3 hour wait time before swimming.....valid? Moot really since I add at night but curious. Thanks for going above and beyond! Lyman

Thanks Mike. It may come down to Le$lies Pool Supplies. I'll also check Ace Hatdware. Thanks, Lyman

All Chlorine On The Planet Gone...

Their website doesn't list chlorine but does have bleach: Ocean State I'll look for chlorine nonetheless. If they don't have it go with the bleach or use the Blue Shield Shock that I have? As always, thanks. Lyman

I'll check them out tomorrow, they're right over the border in NH. Thanks again! Lyman

All Chlorine On The Planet Gone...

Thanks Brett. It's about two months old and has been kept in the dark in a cool basement. Nonetheless it likely has lost some of its potency as you say. The Blue Shield was bought at Namco and I believe it is manufactured for them. Past history now, I follow TFP across the board. Many thanks...

Jim, If push comes to shove should I use the Blue Shield Shock that I have when chlorine is called for? Best, Lyman

"Usually the splashless bleaches have some sort of an additive to prevent splashing and you don’t want that in your pool". Exactly, and neither could I find anything as to concentration. Thanks! Lyman

For Liquid Chlorine or a suitable Bleach? Regardless if I can't locate Chlorine any recommendations on brands of bleach? Thanks! Lyman

All Chlorine On The Planet Gone...

Thanks Jim. Lowes and HD are out and due to the time of the season none are on order. Walmart said it was in stock so I drove up there today but for the second week in a row the shelves were bare with none on order for the same reason as Lowes and HD. The Signature is there as you say, thanks...

All Chlorine On The Planet Gone...

I've been using Pool Essentials Chlorine for longer than dirt is old and I'm not going to have enough to make it through end of August into September. So Bleach is my option. If I recall, Clorox is out but I've heard Walmart's Great Value mentioned albeit it's only 6% Sodium Hypochlorite. I...

Child lost lunch in pool - HELP!

My 4 year old Grandson just threw up in the pool. I have not encountered this before and other than skim out what is floating around and vacuuming I am at a loss. FC I have been keeping high. This morning at 1036 EST the readings were as follows (it is now 1449 EST). FC 8.4 CC .2 pH: 7.6 TA...

Thanks for correcting that on the 10X rule! Was not aware of that as being for ammonia. Best, Lyman
