What is your salt level? NON-SWG pools only. Yes i know this sounds nuts.

Please note: Larger volumes of water exchange from precipitation and winterization. WOW

Use of rainwater to dilute cya

steveik, directing the downspouts off your roof into the pool is a great idea. I did it for a couple of years as I was fighting very high CA and I did not want to lower my pool water levels. Now I am within range:cheers:

What happens if CH is very high?

Exactly what I was thinking, however Jason thought that I may be able to get by, but I think I need some input in recommended chemical levels to shoot for.

What happens if CH is very high?

Thanks Jason, there will be some water replacement this summer with rainfall as I usually backwash the filter when the pool fills up with rainwater. What would be recommended chemical levels to shoot for? And is it okay to brush the pool using a Stainless Steel Brush instead of the vinyl bristle...

What happens if CH is very high?

I noticed the CH creaping up since the pool build. It started at 375 two years ago and I guess it really went up over the past winter. I am using bleach and SWG in the pool. The spot went away after using a lenth of PVC to pour MA directly on one of the spots so do I have some scaling and not...

What happens if CH is very high?

I just tested the drinking water and the CH is 175-200. Do you think the darker black spots are scaling?

What happens if CH is very high?

Happy Easter to all. The wife thinks that we have black algae so I shocked the pool for one week keeping the FC @ 30 and purchased a Stainless Steel brush to try to brush off the darker areas. I rubbed a trichlor tablet on the darker areas and it did not appear lighter. Here are my...

    solar observations- incredible

Davegvg, I too was very astonished as I initially got a 14-15 degree rise in one day back in March when I first installed our solar. I also have Aquatherm panels and love them. I also think it depends on the square footage ratio of panels to pool surface area. In my case we have a 1:1 ratio so I...

I usually test on Saturdays and find that the pH is 7.8 - 8.

Jason, the pool is exactly 1 yr old. Ouch I did not catch my CYA being so low. I will adjust tomorrow back to 70-80. I also run the sheer descents about a couple of hrs on the weekends. Thanks

I usually test on Saturdays and find that the pH is 7.8 - 8.

Re: Pebble pools tend to require more acid than plaster pools Not to rain in on the OP, but this is related so please excuse me. Jason here are my numbers as of 08-01-10 FC - 5 CC - 0.5 TC - 5.5 pH - 7.2 Added MA 24 hrs previous day because pH was 7.8 - 8.2 T/A - 40 CH - 450 CYA - 45 Temp -...

I usually test on Saturdays and find that the pH is 7.8 - 8.

Split off of this topic. JasonLion I am curious to know also because we are in the same boat. I usually test on Saturdays and find that the pH is 7.8 - 8.2. I add muriatic acid to bring pH to 7.2. Sorry to ask this question to the OP, but what would happen if I left the pH high? I have never...

Thanks bama, the pool is crystal clear and I see no evidence of staining. Would it be safe to not use a sequestering agent? If I was going to use it how often should I Use it and how do you test to see if it is working? All thoughts and experience are welcomed

Going to try to add borates

The pool is only 6 mths new and the plaster is still curing so this could be a contributer of the pH rising. I have noticed that the Ph was getting more stable prior to adding borax :-D

Going to try to add borates

I too just switched to borates (Team Mule 20)this past weekend and my pH went up from 7.5 to 7.8 . I adjusted it back to 7.5 by adding muratic acid. No swimming as it is too cold and I have not noticed any water color change however the pool has been kept up to TFP specs  48 hrs later...
