Solar Skimmer robot - has anyone purchased this model - scam ?

I have not tried that one, but I have an instapark betta and with my pool with lots of trees around it gets used daily. I am skeptical of that add myself. They have a PayPal option though so one would think that you should be pretty safe with that. The only other thing they would get is your...

    Replacement Pump Recommendations

If you are replacing it entirely, you might as well go with a variable speed. After July of this year you might not be able to buy a new single speed or two speed pump anymore anyway. I have the Pentair superflo VST and it’s great. It really doesn’t use much electricity at all. Below is what...

Outdoor speakers and equipment I need

My class D just started acting up a bit so I replaced it with a class T. I think the class T sounds a bit better.

Featured New GFCI Breaker for Pump Tripping on Startup

If it’s any consolation, I had a pool inspection on my house when we bought it two years ago as well. They missed the busted fiberglass stairs, the trashed liner and didn’t seem concerned at all about the leaking pump. All that added up to over $12k and so I basically wasted money on the...

I’m going to guess that the lights are LED and the heater is gas, but you might want to specify that for JamesW.

So just have to run the extra leg to the switch in the pro logic and that’s it then? It is weird that they didn’t wire it up 230 to begin with when it’s already there. Good call on the arch fault breaker. If the pump has faults then it might be a great excuse to replace with a variable speed...

Would the electrician need to know to change any dip switches or pins or anything in that Hayward ProLogic Control Panel if it’s converted to 230?

Featured New GFCI Breaker for Pump Tripping on Startup

It wouldn’t hurt to try it. If you weren’t having any issues before and it’s just from swapping to a GFCI. If a short was causing it, it should have tripped the old one, unless the wiring got messed up somehow.

Yeah and it looks like it’s running though the controller and it’s a GE. The GE ones can be flakey in my experience.

Depends on what they are running. I can’t tell where that tripped 15 amp one is going. I was assuming before it was running your pump because it looked tripped or turned off.

Yeah mojito‘s are da bomb! Lol! Those are GE circuit breakers. I have one and I can’t run my pool pump below a certain speed because it causes it to trip at lower speeds. I think I stated above that the GE ones are susceptible to electrical noise and they trip regularly under certain...

Featured New GFCI Breaker for Pump Tripping on Startup

I just looked and used my brain and updated the post. Is the 15 amp powering the pump? Looks like the 20amp at the top to me.

The hot is going though what looks to be a relay in the controller. Wonder if something is going on with that? Some of those GFCI breakers are sensitive to electrical noise. Supposedly Siemens branded GFCI’s aren’t as susceptible to that.

Featured Hole in the liner in the deep end. Caused from Muriatic Acid?

As others have said, as little acid as you added there is no way it would have done that. Adding several gallons at once when the pumps not running...possibly but I would think it would also cause wrinkles. I’m thinking it’s possibly a patch just because you said it seemingly appeared out of...

Is that a flap of vinyl? It’s really hard to tell by the picture, but it almost looks like a patch that’s peeling off.

Sometimes I’ll just broadcast it into the deep end in front of the return and then immediately hit any undissolved stuff at the bottom with a brush. Max I will broadcast at a time is 2 pounds.

Renovating system- should I switch to VS pump?

The other thing to consider is that running your pump at lower speeds for longer helps the sand filter out a good bit. I run my pump 24/7 and I add a bit of DE to the sand filter when I backwash it. If it was me I would replace the pump with a VS and sell the old one, keep the filter and not...

    Drain pool or chem treat?

Probably not much you can do with that other then repaint. I wonder what they used. I painted my concrete with this stuff at Sherwin Williams. I used the stuff that is supposed to keep the concrete cool. The other stuff is half the price. I have spilled all kinds of chemicals on it and it...

Help ID and replacement of Aqua Rite SWG model and board

Shouldn’t need a telephone cord at all to do this test. Just have to take a small flat head screw driver and insert it into the jack and slightly and carefully press the screwdriver blade towards you. Just have to short those two contacts together in some way shape or form.

But wouldn’t the bubbles also be sodium hydroxide, AKA lye? I can see the bubbles from the salt cell not being a big deal when they stay in the water at warmer temps... but when they bubble to the surface and pop? I think I’ll stick to not running it when the water is 50 degrees..
