    CYA Disappears in Summer

I use the Taylor Kit for all testing. I believe it is the K2005 as I do not test for chlorine levels by titration. This clearly inhibits the SLAM test. I always keep the chlorine at the recommended range for CYA levels. Right now, my CYA is below 30. My FC never drops below 3. If I am...

    CYA Disappears in Summer

14,000 gallon plaster pool with the following readings: PH - 7.5-7.6 CH - 300 FC - 5 TC - 5 TA - 60 CYA - <30 Water Temp - 90-91 F This summer I started the season with a CYA somewhere under 30 (no cloudiness at the top of the tube on the Taylor kit). I used trichlor pucks to start the...

    Waste Line to Sewer

I have a 15,000 gallon pool with a Hayward swim clear cartridge filter. I have always been under the impression I could not vacuum to waste because there was no waste function on the filter or otherwise in the plumbing. Yesterday, I was looking at the plumbing near the filter. And I think...

    Leslie's Metal Test

No this was never resolved. I have just learned to live with it. When the sun is out, you cannot see them. When it is shade, it bothers me daily!

    Testing CYA

Thanks for the response. I shake it vigorously for 30 seconds and then start adding it to the tube. I will try to slowly invert for 30 seconds, let it sit, and then conduct the test. Thanks!

    Testing CYA

I use the Taylor kit. The process is where you add 7 ml of pool water to 7 ml of the CYA reagent. You then slowly fill the container until "the dot just disappears." Here is my issue. I feel like I can always see the dot at full, meaning CYA is less than 30. I have been adding pucks in the...

Tiny brownish orange spots in plaster imperfections

I acquired a pool when purchasing a home back in May of 2019. I have kept the water balanced since that time. The pool has been fantastic. There is one ongoing issue that gets worse over time. I cannot figure out what is causing it. The plaster is probably ten plus years old. But it...

    Leslie's Metal Test

Update on these stains. I ran the entire Jacks Magic ID kit from copper/scale, iron, to those with O2 testing. None of the tests did anything to the stains. And a chlorine puck on top for 30 minutes or grinded against the plaster does not remove the stains. These stains are amazing. And now...

What are these stains/blobs in my pool??

You ever get this figured out. Mine is not as bad as yours, but those stains look very similar to the ones growing in my pool. Shock, Jacks Magic, and Vitamin C do not budge the stains

    Leslie's Metal Test

Thanks for the response. I have two separate staining patterns. One is an orange red spot on the steps with some similarly colored dots in the imperfections in the plaster. The dots are only located near the steps. The rest of the pool shows no sign of similar staining. The second staining is...

    Leslie's Metal Test

I posted in here about a month ago with what I thought was a calcium dirt issue. Now, a stain has appeared on my stairs that is quite clearly iron or some other metal. Additionally, little rust colored circles are showing up in any irregularity in the plaster. I just bought this older home in...

Locked dirt on bottom of pool

I bought a house with a pool in good condition a month and a half back. 14,000 gallons, concrete, and waterfall. I came across this site about a two weeks into ownership and started a purely liquid chlorine sanitation with good results so far. Prior to switching, I had a run in with mustard...
