New Owner Builder Project Advice would be much appreciated!

You would need a professional gunite expert to give you a good answer to the question about the integrity of the structure and possible options.

New Owner Builder Project Advice would be much appreciated!

Basically, all concrete placement should be by the nozzle for compaction. Taking shavings and rebound to hand pack areas is not good practice.

Get a flashlight and look under the pump and towards the front where the seal is to see if you can see a drip.

    Uphill loop question

Option 2 might be a better choice. You don't want the fph to run with no water in the lines. I definitely would not do a drain down feature. Water sitting in the line for a day or so should not be an issue. If the system will be off for a long time, you can close the valves and drain the...

    Uphill loop question

I would probably just do #3. There's no reason for a drain down. It really doesn't make much difference what's happening in the loop while the bypass is open. Maybe a little bit of water will go through and maybe it won't but it should not matter either way.

You take action many times per day to make the world closer to how you want it to be; everyone does. Otherwise, you would not have anything that you have.

Also, the white load neutral connects to the breaker neutral terminal and the white pigtail that comes with the breaker goes to the neutral bar. This way, the neutral current goes through the breaker so that the gfci will work correctly.

You are correct. #1 is line in and #2 is load out.

Featured HELP, was our skimmer set too low.

The fact that the builder didn't even want to come out and check it for themselves is very telling. When a customer calls with a concern, whether legitimate or not, you get out there and check it for yourself. If it's wrong, you fix it. Period. If it actually ok, you explain it to the...

I disagree. In my opinion, there's only one acceptable fix. Raise the skimmer. I'm not sure why you're so eager to allow the builder to get away with doing it wrong.

Featured HELP, was our skimmer set too low.

It depends on what pump you use and how much flow there will be. It only increases the problem, it does not decrease the problem. The builder knows that it's wrong, but they don't want to fix it because it costs time, effort and money that they would rather not pay if they can get away with it.

Featured HELP, was our skimmer set too low.

That's not how the skimmer is designed to work. It's designed to pull all water from the top. The bottom equalizer is only a safety backup that is activated by a low water level that causes the float valve to drop and close off water flow from above. We don't even know if an equalizer line...

Brand new Pentair Mastertemp heater not working, error code 128 r14

Since all of this is brand new, you should just wait for the installer to check everything. It's ridiculous when an installer finishes installing something and they don't test run everything to verify that everything works correctly.

    Uphill loop question

Do you expect that there will be long periods of time when the loop will not get flow? If you want, you can just use a valve on the bypass to open or close the bypass. When the fph is on, the bypass will be closed and all water is forced to go to the fph. When the fph is off, the bypass will...

    Automation with external input

Most people can run a variable speed pump 24/7 at low cost even when providing enough flow for a SWG as long as the system is reasonably well designed.

Scoping a Jandy VSP SWCG installation

"Dry" means that equipment power is not being switched. Since equipment power is being switched, the contacts are not considered to be "dry". Dry means that only signal level power is being switched. You will get power from the pump terminals to the relay and then from the relay to the SWG.

    Uphill loop question

I would not do a drain down. Just use a three-way valve to select the bypass or the fph loop. You can put a Jandy check valve on the return line from the fph.

You also have to account for the flow rate when determining the lowest water level. The higher the flow, the higher the water needs to be above the lowest edge.

Scoping a Jandy VSP SWCG installation

Most Jandy equipment is pretty good and they are pretty good about warranty if something fails. I don't know about the TruClear specifically, but it might be worthwhile if the price is good. If you want to DIY, you will probably have to get something else.

    Automation with external input

Just make sure that the lowest speed is enough to trigger the SWG and then set the SWG percentage to match continuous operation.

It's going to look stupid to anyone who has a pool and probably anyone else. And, it's certainly going to look stupid to the customer who paid for the job and who has to look at it every day and who has to check the water level three times a day to make sure that it's within its tiny little...
