    Tips and Tricks

yes it is. with my device i can add a little bit in multiple spots around the perimeter very easily. still, no brushing. so not the best but better than nothing. In the fall i use the device in front of the return jets; in the time after i cover but before i fully close. i also use a robot...

    Third leak point the charm

Short version-leaks fixed in three different spots, one at a time until resolved. First i verified leak was in the pool and not the plumbing by closing off returns and skimmer drain (leaving main drain open-didnt have a plug for it) and taking level measurements over a 24 hr period. My dye...

    Trying to find the leak.....

Good luck. i had a leak in my liner shortly after installed. Leak was in a small tear on the bottom in the deep end. Keep that in mind if you try letting the water level drop in an attempt to find it.

    Leak detection

Happened to me shortly after pool originally installed. turned out to be a small tear caused by a rock pushed by a pool cleaner. Tear was near a corner seam at bottom of deep end. I used a professional to detect and fix. That is what i recommend.

Why do we need Skimmer socks if we have filter?

for all of the above reasons. i usually change mine once a day. have a long loop handle so i dont have to reach into a mess of spiders. use a toothbrush (old one, haha) to sweep any bugs off of the handle and top of basket rim, then stomp on the folded up bag once removed to kill any still...

    Can we talk solar blanket?

i think you will get "find the cheapest one you can, none of them last very long." From my perspective of similar size pool, i would consider a solar reel if you have space for it. I did not get one for two reasons-expensive and no space. The cover i have is fairly easy for two people to put...

    skimmer sock

i'm pretty sure you will find that much less stuff will get to the pump strainer after you start using hairnets in the skimmer. see if that works for you.

    Aggregate Concrete Pool Deck Sealer

Divin Dave, can you be more specific? there seem to be a lot of eagle sealers. was the one you used acrylic? reason i'm asking is because i thought salt pools and acrylic sealers dont get along well. thanks.

    partial drain vinyl liner-temperature question

I will be doing a partial drain/refill on my vinyl-lined pool. i am aware of the need to leave at least 12 inches in the shallow end. I saw something in a recent post that peaked my curiosity on temperature requirements. Can i do this while water temp is around 60 or should i wait for higher? I...

Putting solid tarp cover over mesh safety cover

perhaps consider converting the solid tarp/pool cover to one of the newer styles on the market, that is, a solid cover with a mesh opening in the middle to provide drainage. just a thought, i have not done it.

    Winter Cover Advice

I did get that but i had to reread it several times and get out of my mind how i did it before i caught on. my comment about being heavy is because there is so much water in the pool when i open, the cover sags a bit and is wet. but not completely. so your way may work better for me. i have...

    Winter Cover Advice

Cat, i had not thought about doing it that way. seems it would be quite heavy before the end (20x40 for me) since the pool is usually full when we take the mesh cover off. The way i do it is unlatch all first, then fan fold by pulling from the shallow end. of course it is wet and heavy at the...

Quality Pool Poles? Average life expectancy?

i still have the 27 yr old original aluminum pole that the pool builder provided, although i did replace the cracked twist lock a few years ago. I did buy a second one at that time so my "helpers" didn't have an excuse. hehe. of course i have used many more nets.

Bugs on the surface after using Coverfree Liquid solar blanket - help!

The msds i found at natural chemistry shows a 1-7% mixture of two compounds (alcohols) referenced in this study that indicates a fifty fifty ratio is most effective. the msds shows one compound 3-7%, the other 1-5%, so both could be 3 or 4 or 5% equally. Molecular interactions behind the...

how can one person put on/take off a solar cover without using a reel?

What i do now: 20 x 40 rectangular, two people at the 20 ft end opposite diving board, remove it by fan folding it in about 2 to 3 ft folds, then roll it up toward the shady side so it doesnt cook in the sun all day. to put it back on, roll it out, grab a corner and pull toward the diving board...

    Pool float question

I like those too, had not thought about flipping them over, but now will have to try that. I like them for reading while floating. But they do not keep you out of the water unless you are lightweight, which is why i didn't mention them first because lafonte specifically requested that. Then...
