    Quick Laars/Jandy heater question.

The heater actually works great. Just trying to figure out how to set the temperature. My last pool had a Hayward heater. I would get pool to to temp then turn down dial until dial clicked and heater shut off...then left dial in that spot. This heater has no click.

    Quick Laars/Jandy heater question.

Moved into house with 20 year old Laars heater. It works fine but in my old house, my Hayward heater dial would click when it was at temperature that I wanted. The dial on the Laars one just turns with no click. Is the dial defective or is that how they are? If so, How do I know what to leave...

    Any idea what this is?

Strange thing happening while I vacuum...I get this foamy haze that forms on the surface of the water...like soap residue. I also notice a bit of a prolonged bubble when kids are jumping around or water is disturbed. Skimmer does take it away in a few minutes after vacuuming though.... I am...

    Big problems...need some serious advice!

So this is what I have done today: - Replaced sand in filter (the sand was clumped from sealer in filter) - Drained half pool water so far Interesting thing I noticed though. When pool water was still, I could see an oil slick type formation on surface. I read somewhere something about...

Thanks for the quick reply. I am thinking I am going to have to go for the drain option...but if it is biodegradable, it might just go away with time. I just don't want to risk anything with my kids in there...

First...my pool: Sand filter Vinyl Liner Steel wall Concrete bottom No water table issues 12,000 gallons Ok...Long story made short: Had a problem with my deck sealer. Had to remove all sealer with a soy based stripper. Some of the stripper/sealer residue ended up in pool. Fished most of...

Finally have water in...do I have a leak?

Finally put water in the pool and everything seems ok but I am concerned (probably like most DIY builders!) that I am leaking water. I did the bucket test last night and lost about half an inch in 24 hours in the pool and close to 4/16 in the bucket. The bucket was outside the pool and I just...

Did I get the wrong filter?

The dealer that sold me my kit sent a Hayward sand filter with a 1.5 inch hose connection but the rest of my piping and equipment including heater is all 2 inch. Is this normal? Do I get some sort of reducer?? Help!! Thanks!

    At crossroads...need quick help!

I staked and even poured 2 bags of concrete on each brace before collar was put in! One of panels might have moved about 1/16. Not worth worrying about I guess

    At crossroads...need quick help!

I can't put water in the pool before final inspection. I can't do final inspection until by electrical is done. The electrician can't finish until he can ground the rebar. I can't put the rebar in for the deck until the pool is back filled! Anyway, what I did was pull out half way or so up...

    At crossroads...need quick help!

Just finished backfilling my steel walled IGP with gravel. I need advice on the following scenarios: I'm a little worried about backfill pushing the walls in. Is this a valid worry? Should I get water in there ASAP? I have not done the concrete decking around the pool yet, and I was thinking...

    Backfill question

Just about to order my backfill material for my steel walled in ground pool. I was planning on getting in sand but based on all the research I have done, 3/4 washed gravel seems to be the best choice. I was wondering if I should get round or chipped. Will chipped hurt or show through the...

    Plumbing question...

More than half way through my self build and just finished digging all my trenches for my returns. I am pretty much sloping down to the pool for all my lines but there is a few spots where I would slope up just a little bit from the pump and then back down to the pool. I hope this makes sense...
