First SLAM... Question about pH levels and water temps

Thank you @clduncan, you are correct. It tended to drop over time (I assume because of having the cover on?), so I'd aerate to bring it back up, not down. Post fixed. :)

First SLAM... Question about pH levels and water temps

Have been letting FC drop, finally got down to 7 today. Tested pH (7.6-7.7) and adjusted to 7.2. Brought FC back up to 15 to restart SLAM and brushed the whole pool. Also hooked up the small Intex cartridge filter that came with the pool kit for extra filtration during the SLAM. It's on now!

    cant view others pool logs

I figured it out. One of my script blockers (uBlock Origin) was blocking the call to the poolmath api url. Created an exception and now I can see the button on the user profile page. Don't know why I didn't think to check that sooner. Doh. 🤦‍♂️

    cant view others pool logs

@mknauss and @Mdragger88 thanks for verifying, at least mine is showing up for others. I assume it should be rather obvious when I go to someone's profile page? (like, there's no way I'd miss it, right?) I'm on Win7 and using Chrome. Will try Firefox and then clearing cache in Chrome if FF...

    cant view others pool logs

Bump on this. I came here to ask the same question. I can't find PoolMath logs for anyone, including myself when looking at my own profile, and I do have the app installed and have the sharing set to link to my profile. I'm mainly curious if my logs are showing up to others and what actually get...

First SLAM... Question about pH levels and water temps

Two main questions relating to the SLAM process: How important is the 7.2-7.5 pH level during a SLAM? Does water temperature affect the SLAM process? (Water temp just hit 60F last night/today) I started my first ever SLAM today. During the swimming season I kept the pool at 6.5-7.0 FC and 7.6...

Thank you TFP! New Pool Install 2020

Between topsoil, sand/clay mix, and pure clay, we hit 10-11 yards, at least (maybe a bit more). I used all of the topsoil and sand/clay mix to add on to the big slope passed the pool (where the fence drops down in the pics)... gained 2-3 feet on the upper level of my yard, which is nice. But I'm...

Thank you TFP! New Pool Install 2020

Goodness, seemed like a new part of me hurt every weekend, lol. Loved the mini-ex! I was sad when we returned it. It'd be a good one for folks who are doing this for the first time, but I'd have to drain the pool again to do it right and actually show what I did. Maybe I'll just...

Thank you TFP! New Pool Install 2020

Yeah, @kimkats, it was a gradual realization, but when we made the water level and finally measured the difference between the two sides, there was a big, "uh oh", moment (you could see the difference by then, just didn't want to believe it). We kept going by hand, though, until we hit the red...

Thank you TFP! New Pool Install 2020

Many thanks to the folks here, not just for answering my questions but for years of searchable history that made researching what needed to be done so easy. After months of work we finally have our pool installed! It was a journey for sure. What started as a, "oh, we'll just cut a little dirt...

New Pool - Slight Green Tinge After Rain - Should I SLAM Already or am I Just Paranoid?

Thanks, @kellyfair! I was paranoid about limiting my ability to backwash (though, it turns out I actually wasn't by using the sock method) because I wasn't sure how often I'd end up having to do it. Update for anyone who happens upon this thread in the future...as I was explaining what happened...

New Pool - Slight Green Tinge After Rain - Should I SLAM Already or am I Just Paranoid?

Thanks for your help, @mknauss. Only a very small amount of discoloration on the paper towel...not as much as I expected to see, but definitely there. Regardless, after 4-5 hours of the pump running, she's back to clear AND colorless. HUGE difference from this morning. Sorry for my panic. :LOL...

New Pool - Slight Green Tinge After Rain - Should I SLAM Already or am I Just Paranoid?

I used the sock method (in front of a return) to add the CYA. Do I not have to wait to backwash because of that? Is that only if it's added through the skimmer? This is a definite possibility, but not sure. I would definitely say that, yes, the water is clear, just with a slight green tinge to...

New Pool - Slight Green Tinge After Rain - Should I SLAM Already or am I Just Paranoid?

We've had our new pool setup for almost a week now, and it's been great. Still working to get all of the chemicals to the proper levels, but have been trying to stay on top of FC like a hawk and water has been crystal clear. I brushed the pool for the first time yesterday evening, and then we...

Brand New Pool - First Fill Questions

After months of preparing the ground, we're about to (finally!) set up our new 15ft intex above ground pool (w/ sand pump and SWG) tomorrow. I've run the tests with my TfTestKit on the water coming from the hose that'll be filling the pool and received the following: FC: 1 pH: 7.5 TA: 280 CH...

Question about overfilling on (modded) Intex pool

I'll be setting up a new 15x48 metal frame Intex pool soon and would like to add vinyl flaps to cover the tee connections like @beggehorn outlines in this post: Idea to help keep water out of Intex rails and t-connectors.... My question is, he mentions that the holes in the walls at the tee...

    Hello from Sunny Florida!

Hi All! Brand new here and the owner of a new 15x48 metal frame Intex pool that I'll be setting up in a week or so when my ground-work is finished. So thankful I found this site, and have learned so much already by just lurking. Seems like a great community of folks, and the wealth of knowledge...
