    New pool light versus repair

My pool light stop working and the voltages to it are goid. It is an older Jandy Colors large pool halogen colored pool light with 8 bulbs in it. I think the P/N or model no is CPHV. It is recommended that you replace all eight bulbs and the gasket when opening it for repair. The bulbs run...

    Pool Light Repair

I put light back in pool without taking a picture of it but I did take pictures of the labels on it which is why I think the light is a Jandy, The label says to use 8 replacment bulbs with a Jandy P/N of RO399600. Also says to replace gasket with P/N R0399800.

    Pool Light Repair

Does anyone have experience replacing the bulbs in a pool light. Measured the voltages to light and found good. Pool light says there are 8 bulbs that should be replaced together and also a cover gasket that needs replaced. I am wondering if opening the pool light to replace the bulbs is...

    Contamination in pool

So they product that Leslie's is selling is called Clear Aide and is supposed to help remove pollen and algae from a pool. There are no ingredients listed on the bottle. I ask the attendant and they said it was enzymes in it and they would not gum up the filter but in fact help to clean the...

    Contamination in pool

I ran OCLT and it was less than o.5. My hot daylight loss is around 2-3 and I been able to keep the pool around 5 FC with a lower setting on my SWG so I do not think it is Algae. The rest of my area around the pool has tree pollen on the ground. My numbers are FC 5.0 Ph 7.6 TA 170 CA 80 Need...

    Contamination in pool

My pool is balanced and pretty clean as I can see the drains in the bottom of deep clearly however there is a very light layer of a gold color contaminate on the bottom of the pool. I belive it to be pollen from a Large tree near the pool. I tried everything I could think of to remove such as...

    Removing Containments from pool

I have some form of containment on the fllor and steps of my pool. My pool is balanced and as I get good readings from my Taylor test kit and I do not have algae as I passed a recent OCLT i ran. The material is very fine and golden brown in color. I believe it may be pollen from nearby flower...

    Pool light problem

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes I measured power on both sides of the On switch that controls the light. The end of the cable from the light goes to a junction box. If i remove the light and put it on the deck will I have a place to measure voltage going into the light? The only time i...

    Pool light problem

I got a pretty good handle on how my pool equipment operates and the maintenance required to keep it running but now am stumped on how to fix a multi-colored pool light that will not turn on. I did measure electrical power going thru switch. The light is the original one installed by Swan pools...

    CYA question

Thanks all for your replies and inputs. Since I use a sock over my skimmer basket I decided to put the CYA in the basket and it seemed to work well. I am going to adjust my CYA to 70

    CYA question

Thanks for the input on how to add the CYA to the pool. Now I am trying to figure out the best level for my pool. The charts say minimum of 70 for a SWG pool but I worry that is to high as it makes it very difficult to resolve an algae problem if you get one. I am think somewhere in the range of...

    Borates Pros and Cons

I am deligent about keeping my pool balanced. I have been performing daily tests and adding chemicals as necessary. I keep my PH in the range of 7.4 to 7.8 but must add a pint of muratic acid 2-3 times a week. I think this might be due to the fact that i must add tap water about 3 times a week...

    Pump Priming Problems

The pump did not lose prime it just never passed startup prime and made it to set running. Without diverting the return water though the dedicated pool sweep return line everything works OK.

    Pump Priming Problems

Just thought of this. Should the filter pressure increase significantly when you are sending the return water to the dedicated pool sweep return. If not could this be a dirty filter cartridge problem or pool sweep restriction problem?

    Pump Priming Problems

I have a VS pump and have programmed it as follows: 2 hours at 2800 (to drive the pool sweep) 8 hours at 1450 to filter and run the SWG. When my timer came on yesterday to start the first 2 hour run the pump would not prime. It timed out after 10 minutes. It tried several more times but it...

    Is this Ok balance

TA is 120. I have to add fill water every other day here to keep the water level in the middle of the skimmer input. I suspect my fill water has a high PH and is part of the reason my pool water PH increases.

    Is this Ok balance

Thanks Jason for your reply. As for FC i guess I am running a little ovekill as I recently got over a bout of algae and do not want a recurrence. I thought running a PH of 7.2 was ideal. How high can it go before it becomes a problem?

    Is this Ok balance

I have a SWG which is programmed to run all night (at 80% for 9 hours) and it produces chlorine that raises the FC by 3 overnight. On most normal days my FC loss is 2 but on real sunny and hot days FC loss is closer to 3. I been measuring my FC daily and in the morning it reads 9 to 10 and in...

    SWG Operation Questions

FC daily loss is 1.5 to 2.0. My CYA is 70. I got the daily loss caculation after 4 days of measurements where I used my Taylor test kit and took FC readings at 7AM and 7PM each day. My SWG was off and I did not add any LC to the pool. During the 7PM reading I recorded the difference from the...

    SWG Operation Questions

I have discovered thru water testing that my average daily FC is 1 to 2 FC (this is in the daytime with the hot sun beatng down). Using the SWG run calculator I have determined that my SWG needs to be run 8.6 hours at 60% to produce a 2 FC increase. I plan on running my pump and SWG from 11:30...

    SWG Operation

I have a Pentair STA_Rite pump. It has a connector port but the manual says it is to be used to control the pump operation thru a controller box you can purchase. I guess I will leave the power applied to both the pump and SWG control box and hope the flow switch does not fail

    SWG Operation

I like the idea of keeping the SWG on for 24 hours to keep the flow going thru the cell and will have to study up on my VS pump to figure out if I can program it to run at different speeds during the 24 hour period. Is there a concern though of a dangerous gas buildup in the cell if the pump...

    SWG Operation

So the new SWG replaced the original Jandy SWG that was installed at the time the pool was put in. There is a control box on the same post that holds the New SWG Control box. SWG Operation

I had a new SWG and VS pump installed last month. The installer hooked it up so that when I throw the circuit breaker the SWG controller and pump are powered on. Pool Returns`Issue

Thanks all for your feedback and recommendations. The solution I am using is to turn up the pump RPM for a couple of hours which allows decent flow out of all returns and also makes my pool sweep run better.

    Pool Returns`Issue

So i ran the pump at max speed (2400) and there was good flow out of all the jets. Of course I do not want to do this all the time but at least I know the valves are in thee right postion and there is no line blockage. When I run the pool sweep I do boost up the pressure to 2000 Rpm and it...
