Filling up pool for the 1st time

My CC maintained at 0.5 throughout SLAM. The moral of the story, no slacking in pool maintenance 😂. I haven’t had any issue when I vacuumed my pool once a week in the beginning. The algae problem happened when I just skipped vacuuming the pool for once only. I guess once a week vacuuming is...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

👌🏼 will SLAM the pool. 👍🏼 Given that the following are the indicators that SLAM is completed, CC is 0.5 or lower; You pass an OCLT shows a loss of 1.0 ppm or less); And the water is clear. and I have already achieved the above before SLAM, then how long should I SLAM, 2 days? 🤔 @kimkats

Filling up pool for the 1st time

I just done a backwash only, have done a deep clean 5 months ago. So basically, my pool water has algae? So the brownish sediment are dead algae? How is this possible given that I have been maintaining my FC 🤔 My only solution is SLAM? My chemical reading taken yesterday: FC 8.0 CC < 0.5 pH...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

See what I found in the rabbit hole @kimkats .... what are those green stuff  I poked the green stuff and I can see some white powdery stuff, I suppose those are the DE? After backwashed....

Filling up pool for the 1st time

It can’t be the case as the sediment are there well before I adding DE. The reason I add DE is because of the consistent sediment on the floor and I need to vacuum to waste weekly to maintain the pool water clarity.

Ok, so I am not suppose to us DE for glass media . So actually what is the effect of having DE with glass media? Make the filtration worst?

Filling up pool for the 1st time

CC< 0.5, water clarity is good, and my FC is quite consistent, around 7-8. We only use the pool during weekend to allow time for the sediment to settle down between Mon-Fri. I will vacuum the sediment on the floor to waste on Sat morning. Have been doing these for the passed few months...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

Ya, it rains a lot recently, I just vacuum to waste to clean the pool and lower the water level at the same time, never use the backwash since added DE. Yesterday, Pump pressure reading 10psi when pump was turned on. Added total 3/4 cup DE (1/4 cup DE at 10mins interval) to get pressure up to...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

The RED arrow is water from skimmer to filter while the BLUE arrows are water from filter to pool return. My return has a bypass, so what I need to do is just close valves 1 & 2 and open valve 3, then the water will not pass through the SWG and tablet dispenser. By the way, I added 3/4 cup DE...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

@kimkats any idea on the above ☝ It is now rainy season over here and the rain water does help to fill up my pool after each session of vacuum to waste. But if the rainy season is over, I will have to fill up the pool using municipal water supply, which will be a waste of money and water. And...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

My filter pressure dropped back to 10psi after a few days. I added another round of DE, the pressure did increased right after i added the DE, but dropped down again after a few days. And there is no improvement on the water. I still need to vacuum to waste weekly. So will it be possible...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

Happy New Year! Finally got my DE. Referring to the photo, do I add 1/4 cup DE and water to the bucket on the left or the bottle to the right is good enough? This is my operating filter pressure, about 10psi. So I need to add DE until it shows 11psi right?

:cheers:It is good to have TFP crystal clear water again! but thinking of it, my area seems to have so much minute dust/dirt. As my current filter definitely can’t filter out this stuffs, might need to add on a finer filter:unsure:

Filling up pool for the 1st time

I have checked all the available laundry bleach selling here, all are with additives, even the one from Clorox. I will still have my pump running with Trichlor dispenser to maintain the FC level but will not be swimming in the pool for a week to allow the dust/dirt to settle. Actually, compare...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

Thanks @Dirk for all your advice! Really appreciated it! Looking at the FC level for SLAM, I supposed that is not possible to be done without liquid chlorine, as using Trichlor to achieve SLAM FC level will not work due to the addition of CYA at the same time. Pool stores here only sell...

Filling up pool for the 1st time

I read from the article “Clarifier: Further Reading” in tfp, it mentioned that “fire ash, dust storms or construction debris getting into the water.” Over here at my housing area, people do open burning to burn off tree branches/leafs occasionally. But there was a fire incident happened on 24...
