New AZ Pool / Spa Build

We're in the process of bidding out a backyard in the Phoenix metro. I've been a pool owner using TFP since 2006 up north, but our pools up here are built different than down south. We are building both a pool and spa. Spa will spillover into the pool, and they will share equipment. Pool /...

    Anybody cleaned the dolphins cord

Not only does mine feel sticky, I constantly have pieces of rubber on my hands when I pull it out of the water. I'm meticulous about anything on the bottom of my pool - I feel like I can see buildup from the cord in the corner of the pool. Cord was replaced at the start of last pool season...

Can anyone identify this trim cap?

I tried Inyo pools again, and they still haven't been able to come up with anything. Here's to hoping someone on here can either identify the ladder or the channel to point us in the right direction. Here's a picture of the ladder and a picture of the channel. Ladder: Side with all trim...

Can anyone identify this trim cap?

Same here. Every time someone comes over, it falls out, and then a kid will walk up to me and say "I found this in the bottom of the pool. Do you need this?". If it's not a kid, then I find it when I clean out the filters on the robot. I figure it's probably a $3 part, so I should just order...

Can anyone identify this trim cap?

That's actually where I started before I posted the thread, and over chat they didn't seem to have any idea what I was talking about. Maybe I need to send them a picture. Did you find a replacement for yours?

Identifying leak in wall of ig liner

There are less time consuming ways, but you need equipment to do it. Leaktronics makes some equipment that can do this but it's not cheap. You could go on the leaktronics website and use their map to see who in your area has bought equipment and try to find someone that has the electronics. If...

Just installed new Controlomatic Smarter Spa, many questions!

Same here, just over a year, and no issues.

Can anyone identify this trim cap?

We have a steel-walled, vinyl-lined inground pool, with a recessed ladder in the deep end. The ladder has trim going up both sides (that I assume cover the screws that hold it into the wall). At the top of the trim, there's a little white cap, and the prongs that hold the cap into the trim...

Skimmer Fix - crack at bottom edge

So I had a slow leak after opening this year, and I finally narrowed it down to a skimmer. It looks like it's around the bottom edge - it's actually hard to tell if it continues even further (or where it stops) because it's right at the seam. What's the best way to fix this (it's in concrete...

Suction-side valve replacement and now air leak

I ordered o-rings to test to see if that helps. One other thing that I'll note is that when the water starts dropping, I get lots of air trapped in the filter. If I crack the relief valve and let out the air, the pump basket will fill to the top. Not sure if that tells of a different problem...

Suction-side valve replacement and now air leak

One more question on this - how tight should the threaded portion that goes into the pump be? Should I use a channel lock pliers (I've seen a few videos showing this), or should this just be hand tight (and then further tightened when you hand-tighten the union nut which basically goes the...

Suction-side valve replacement and now air leak

From what I can see, they're Praher 906 series Hi-Heat unions in case that helps someone to identify the o-rings that I need. Plumbing is all 2". It looks like the complete union is Praher part number 200-996, but I can't find anything that tells me the replacement o-rings. Here's to hoping...

Suction-side valve replacement and now air leak

Thanks for the reply - I kind of figured that's where I'd have to start. Are the o-rings a standard size where I can order a replacement online, or am I stuck going to a hardware store and rummaging through their o-rings to try to find one that matches up?

Suction-side valve replacement and now air leak

Alright TFP folks - I need some assistance. I decided that I should re-plumb the valves that the PB used when installing our pool, and put in Jandy (Pentair-branded) Neverlube valves so I could do a little bit of automation. Really the intention is to choke down the main drain a little when...

    Contemplating a UV system

For our scenario, it's a safety issue with small kids around. If the pool isn't being used, the cover is closed. It also helps with the efficiency of the pool heating. For the most part, I feel like the way we operate is normal for up here in the North. The kids were in a 88-degree pool...

    Contemplating a UV system

To be honest, I've been contemplating the same thing - our pool is covered 99.9% of the time with an autocover, and when it's opened up, you can smell chloramines. I also don't think that my water gets enough UV exposure - I think I asked the same question about a year ago. The downside to...

    Pentair Intellichlor IC60 Hours

This is likely because your probe canister is getting hit by direct sunlight. I used to see this at daybreak - my ORP would tank and the pool would dose until about 9am. I eventually figured out that it was the sun hitting the clear canister that the probes are in - the sunlight affects the...

Outdoor TV with no shade cover?

There's ways to mount the TV without having it attached to the house. If there's nothing "above" it to hang it down from, you can also bolt them to the concrete. Here's an example of a mount made for this: Wind Rated Pedestal Tilt Mount for 32. If you're handy, you could build your own for a...

    Pentair Intellichlor IC60 Hours

Perfect, that's exactly what I was thinking. So how can I tell if the SWG is working effectively? 1.) My current FC is 6.5. I had the pump on a higher speed (2400 RPM) and started the cell, waited 5 minutes, and filled up my water bottle from the return jet. It tested at 6.5 (same as the...

    Pentair Intellichlor IC60 Hours

Just to add to this, when I press MORE and it scrolls, none of the lights for % runtime are shown. If I hit the more button again, which would cycle to the current temperature, the 80% and 100% lights come on, showing that the temp is: 80 and 100%..................86 to 95F , which it is. So...

    Pentair Intellichlor IC60 Hours

I have an IC60, and I know that pressing the "MORE" button for 3 seconds is supposed to show you the number of hours that a cell has been used. When I do this, the lights scroll, and then return to normal. I have an EasyTouch, an IntelliChem, and ScreenLogics. The IC60 is connected to my...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

The new probe ORP seems to be closer to being in line with what I'd expect - it's measuring in the upper 600s and the mid 700s over the course of the last two weeks which is what it should read given my FC numbers. There's no way to generate alerts with the Intellichem out of the box. It's...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

So a little more to add to this thread. Last week was the perfect storm. We were out of town, and 3 days after leaving, the ORP sensor decided that it was going on vacation too. It started reporting an insanely low level (the ORP mV reading was in the 100s and 200s, but the history on the...

Guess what...... I just got the M600

The filter on this looks really cool - like the idea of having a filter within a filter. I didn't know that there was a new model out. I had read about the IO line coming a few months back - does this have the new mapping abilities that were touted with the IO line, or is that something else...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

dradam - thanks for chiming in. I log my additions too, and I've been adding trichlor pucks here and there since the start of my logging, and unforunately, the addition of the pucks doesn't seem to correlate at all with the pucks being in the skimmers (in fact, right now, I have a trichlor puck...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

The funny (maybe not funny?) thing about the ORP system is that if you can "catch" the swings, and reset your setpoint before it overchlorinates (or you're left with zero FC causing an outbreak), it'll hold it's value for weeks / months and self-maintain. To me, the biggest problem is that I...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

The ORP function is finicky. I went down this path after reading all of the threads that said it was finicky, with the mindset that there must be a way to do it if you keep everything perfect enough. That hasn't proven to be the case. I'm very type A, and I've kept everything as close to a...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

Correct, still trying to hold CYA at ~ 30 ppm. I have had an additional ORP probe on order for about 3 weeks now - back from when ORP values were in the 400's, I didn't have much for choices, as the IntelliChem has a low limit of 400. So if it's reading 390ppm, the Intellichem will just keep...

Intellichem - and yup orp issue

Sharing this for anyone interested, or for anyone that can explain this. This is where I really struggle to trust this. Our pool is covered whenever it's not being used, which is 99% of the time. Last week, it statistically was open about 7% (12 hours out of 168). So earlier in this thread...
