Does this look right ? Pool closed. Cover question

I have something that looks like this. Actually, exactly like this. It pumps 350 gal/hour. You can get it off Amazon for about $30-40 or at your local pool store (Didn't see one on TfTestkits, otherwise I'd link it.). I got mine at Leslie's before I found TFP. Don't think I've been there more...

Does this look right ? Pool closed. Cover question

That looks like a solid cover. It also looks like a circular pool. 15 x 42 would be far more of an oval shape. As a solid cover, it is doing it's job. As mentioned above, consider scooping out the leaves and pumping the water. Water is heavy and you don't want the walls collapsing in on itself.

Double check my closing procedure (main drain)

In 14 years since I've owned a pool of my own and for the 15 or so years that I helped my Dad close his inground pool, I've never seen bubbles come from the main drain, using a 6.5 HP Shopvac. On the other hand, the pools that I've cared all have at least an 8 1/2 foot deep end and hold (held)...

Lost Power due to Isaias. Advice on how to recover?

What's the wattage and amperage of the generator? Make sure you have room or your breaker will trip.

    Lost power. Isaias storm

Lost power yesterday afternoon and there was a bunch of debris in the water and yard. Two tree down as well, but at the end of the day, I think we made out okay. After the Halloween storm, we made the decision to get an emergency generator, for which the hookup was installed in December. I...

How's the conversion going? Ocean State Job Lot has the best value for liquid chlorine in the Northeast.

Best Places to Buy Liquid Chlorine

After I changed the media in the filter tank at the old house following a BQ conversion, I've found myself not thinking twice about skipping Leslie's altogether. It seems that they, and Namco for that matter, have ridiculous overhead that they just pass on to customers. I used to be a frequent...

    Correct way to ADD bleach?

Pour slowly just over the water line so it doesn't "glug" in front of a return. Prefer the deep end if you have an in ground.

    2019 Bleach Prices

Ocean State Job Lot is running a Mother's Day "Crazy Deal" for Insiders until May 15. Get a $30 "Crazy Deal" card when you buy a $100 gift card. Cases of 4 true 128 oz. gallons of 12.5% liquid chlorine cost $11.96. That's 40 gallons (10.86 cases, but I rounded down for tax) for $100, $2.50/gal...

So Glad for this Site and Forum

I found that I became a near expert on pool water by going through my conversion. Truth be told though, it's not rocket science. Liquid chlorine pretty much solves any issue, short of a hole in the liner or hardware. If the amount you are using isn't working, more probably will. Still, I haven't...

What did you do to your pool today?

Water was peaking through the mesh cover, so threw the pump in for 24 hours. Still about two weeks from full on opening for the season.

What did you do to your pool today?

Raining, but I have pump out some water. Supposed to be at least overcast, and rain on and off, until next Tuesday. Determined that the full opening will be the weekend of May 18. With the heater, I should have no issues in having the water in swimmable condition by Memorial Day.

Mesh cover- on or off for thaw?

Take the cover off for ice melt. Ice melts from the bottom. If direct sun light is shining, the ice acts like a greenhouse and warms the water underneath. A cover prevents this.

What did you do to your pool today?

The water level was peaking through the safety cover over the weekend, so I drained about 1,000 gallons to give room for any rain that may fall over the next 4 weeks. Crystal clear, but near freezing. Boy was the water cold!! Getting antsy,

What did you do to your pool today?

Just about 6 weeks from the beginning of my typical pool opening window. Getting antsy. I haven't looked at the water since January (drained some water during an unseasonable warm weekend), but It was perfectly clear. I have to drain some more.

    Baquacil Side Discussion

It doesn't just seem that way. It is that way. I couldn't believe it when I converted. Baquacil is pretty good when the water is clear and there are no problems, but it can get ugly in a hurry. You'll spend more time getting the pool clear again, but at least it cost more.

    Baquacil Side Discussion

Neither white mold, nor pink slimy algae are issues for owners using chlorine. Most of the issues I've read about here and gave my $0.02 on are the results of complacency and 9 times out of 10, more often than not, the solution is elevating FC levels.

    Sand supply

This is probably the only reason why I would go to Leslie's, but if there is a better priced pool store, I'd go there. I've heard of and seen that the sand (even if it states #20 silica) from hardware/big box stores that happen to sell pool supplies, but don't specialize in them, don't stock...

Unable to Kill Algae and Clear Pool

Welcome. Congrats on finding the site. The first step you want to take is to avoid the pool stores. Their testing is inconsistent at best and goal is to sell you stuff you, in all likelihood, do not need. Step 2: Toss the test strips Step 3: Order your own full service test kit. There is a...

    SpeedStir Question
