    Coleman Garden Hose Drain Adapter

Thanks everyone. I don't recall getting an adaptor with the pool. I tried the Intex hose adaptor and it did not fit correctly. I had to resort to the ole siphon method and I have to say, it worked better than if I would have connected a garden hose to the drain at the bottom of the pool. I...

    Coleman Garden Hose Drain Adapter

This may seem like an obvious question but i've gone to two pool stores and hardware stores and cannot find a solution. Is there a specific connector/adaptor to hook up a garden hose to the drain at the bottom of the pool? Both the pool & hardware stores keep saying its not a standard thread...

Help Making More Sense of My Results

@duraleigh Glad to hear I'm not alone haha I'm re-reading this thread and wondering what it is that I do know. Your explanation definitely makes it more clear about the basics in a simple form. My wife hears the word bleach and momma bear comes out to defend. I have to figure out how to word it...

Help Making More Sense of My Results

I have been slowly re-reading some of the content in pool school. Admittedly, I don't think I fully realized the fact that it is a chlorine pool at the end of the day. I thought I was more familiar with the process but I guess not.

Excellent point and addition, thank you @Yev. My kids had terrible eczema and it would always flare up after them swimming in chlorine pools. The saltwater is much gentler on their skin. I don't have an exact answer as to why but the difference is unquestionable. We jumped through A LOT of...

Fair enough. I am definitely more on top of it now than I was. Until the next full set of test results, many, many thanks.

Help Making More Sense of My Results

Understood. Thank you @mknauss . Im trying to understand better. Last year, I had a 16'x48" and ran the pump for 5 hours a day and never had a low chlorine issue. Only 1 time IIRC, did I have to use PH up or down but aside from that, all the numbers were within range. Can this be chalked up...

@mknauss My power company is going to love me lol Are you sure you don't work with them? 👀 Shock will be added. 1.5 gallons is still the recommendation? I usually rely on the FAS-DPD test anyway but was actually surprised to see the quick test showed a change. With the salt test, the higher #...

Sooooo.... We decided to let the pump run for about 20 or so hours straight. I had to work and knew my wife wouldn't use the shock in the pool unless I insisted and I was there. I did the quick K-1000 test and wouldn't you know, the chlorine level was between 2 and 3. See attachment. Before this...

@PoolNewb2020 this was my exact response. I understand where she was coming from and share the same concerns but explained that algae would be a bigger issue requiring more chemicals to remedy if it gets to that. I greatly appreciate the knowledge and direction from the members here. This...

Help Making More Sense of My Results

Update... Minor setback. My wife nearly had a coronary when she saw what I was trying to put in the pool lol my kids have skin issues so the salt allows them to enjoy the pool. We have been lucky in not needing many chemicals except for the UV protection. When I explained our pool balance...

Thank you @mknauss Should I add this while the filter is running? Should this be spread around the pool or somewhere near the pool intake to circulate through the filter? What is a safe timeframe to resume swimming after the bleach is added?

Thank you folks, appreciate the responses. I always feel like I'm asking questions I should know the answers for but some things just don't click sometimes. Got it on the chlorine. I will add it ASAP. Is household bleach acceptable? What is the quick math used to determine how much...

Help Making More Sense of My Results

I've been doubting my ability to properly test my own pool and have been bringing my water to the pool store to back me up. Their results last week had me add about 2.5 pounds of UV protector (cyanuric acid) as the chlorine was low? I didn't get a chance to ask why as it was busy and I typically...

Taking down pool to re level

That is what I was suggesting. To help level off the lower side of the pool. Glad I asked. I don't have much of an issue with the posts sinking into the soil so I never felt the need to put the posts on blocks. I cannot fathom how the level is off though. Thank you for the response @ajw22

Took down to level again still about 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 off level

I don't think you are wrong for looking to be safe. An overabundance of safety can only drive you nuts haha Last year, I was a little off on one side. I agonized over getting it level before I started but decided to leave it as it wasn't "that far off." No issues. This year, I spent 2 days...

Taking down pool to re level

Sorry to hijack the thread and I'll happily start a new one if the mods feel it's necessary but it's on the same wavelength. Would it be acceptable to place only a few legs on blocks for the area that may be a little lower? Would this cause stress on the legs and railings and potentially the liner?

Availability of Intex Pools (COVID-19 impact)

It's not Intex but found a Coleman 18x48" on Walmart. It was showing 2 Available at the time of this post. If anyone else is trying to get out of the dog house, 5his could be your chance. I have not heard back from Intex support about availability so...

Availability of Intex Pools (COVID-19 impact)

Has anyone who has tried contacting Intex via their email on the website actually heard anything back from them? I sent a message last week and still have not received a response. Has anyone had luck in finding pools in stock? I've been searching for the XTR Ultra Frame 16x48" and have not...

    Recommend basic vacuum setupfor AGP

After researching some more affordable options, I got fed up and saw and purchased the Water Tech Volt FX-8 Li in the local pool store. I have to say, I'm quite impressed. I was hesitant to sink $200+ into a poop that cost me roughly $100 more but I could not be happier. It did a excellent job...

Any Feedback for Kokido Tesla 5 K563CBX Handheld Vacuum?

I've been plugging around for a new solution to vacuum the pool. I've looked at some of the robots and just don't feel like dishing out $300-$400 for a $350 pool. I found the above titled on Amazon and it seems to have some decent feedback. Wondering if anyone has heard of this company and/or...

Proper Filter Run Time When Cycle is Interrupted

Sorry for disappearing guys. It's been a hellish work week. I did another full round of testing. Here is what I have: TC K-1000 <5 FC 7.5 CC .5 TC 8 pH 7.5 TA 70 CYA 40 (much better but I think it needs more?) Water remains crystal clear. I'm running the filter and SWG nightly at 10p for 5...

Proper Filter Run Time When Cycle is Interrupted

I figure being new to testing my own water, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary if I messed up or looked at things incorrectly. Just wanted to be honest and throw that out there... The pool was taken down after last season. Living in the Northeast, I didn't want to chance leaving the pool up...

Proper Filter Run Time When Cycle is Interrupted

Thank you for the welcome. I came back to re-read this thread and missed this the 1st time. What I'm missing is that the salt test showed my salt levels a little high but the OTO test shows little to no chlorine. Could this be a lack of CYA or is there something else I need to look into? Could...

Proper Filter Run Time When Cycle is Interrupted

lol valid point I suppose. I guess when I have more control over the outcome of the water quality and dealing with "chemicals" makes think twice about it. Isn't lake water more "natural?" haha ;)

Proper Filter Run Time When Cycle is Interrupted

Many thanks for the guidance. Few questions: The pool is currently safe to swim in despite the need for CYA, correct? I just want to be sure Should the sock be placed opposite the filter? Can the filter run during the time the CYA is being released?

Proper Filter Run Time When Cycle is Interrupted

Thank you mknauss. The CC may actually be 1. If I recall, I was waiting for a more bold color change and marked it on the higher side. The water is Crystal clear. No slimy feeling in the water. No CYA before or since the pool was opened.

Please bare with me as this is the 1st time I've tested the water on my own. I realize this is not the correct thread for this and I will be heading over to the proper forum and blog to read up on testing. FC 2 CC 2 TC 4 Salt 3,800 ppm (which is high) pH 7.8 CH 75 TA 80 CYA 0? I tested twice...
