Pool Math - under FC, there is no option for 70% Cal-Hypo under Sanitizer

Programmatically this is a no brainer to add, and it’s even a bigger jump for me, with my 70% I have to use 65% or 73% calculations, it becomes even more significant when I’m trying to SLAM when my CYA is at 70 and I need a FC of 28.

Is there any point to backwashing during a SLAM if my pressure hasn’t increased?

I’ve been slamming for almost 24 hours, and I was wondering if it would ever make sense to backwash and rinse during this process if my pressure increase has been negligible? 2nd, I know we are supposed to by pass the heater when slamming, but if I had algae in my pool then wouldn’t I also have...

Can I slam within 5 hours of my initial slam in order to reach my Slam FC?

My first slam was done at 4PM and there was still a lot of sunlight. it’s now 5 hours later and the initial slam actually worked great and got rid of the green of the dark green water (I had to close for 3 weeks due to repairs). Would it be wrong to Slam again so quickly just to bring the FC...

Should I be bypassing my heater when slamming (Target FC 24)

my pressure does drop down to 10 from the normal 15 it is when it’s running through the heater, I didn’t realize that makes it more efficient.

Should I be bypassing my heater when slamming (Target FC 24)

Just wondering what the rule is, bypass or not when slamming? If the answer is yes, I can slam and heat pool at the same time, what are the reasons why you would want to ever bypass the heater?

Small amount of sand in my pool

I did a really thorough visual, ran my finger across each lateral arm to look for any breaks, I can’t see anything. So if I get this all back in the filter put together, what’s my next step in terms of determining why there is sand in the pool? Any truth to sand losing its sharp edges after 5...

Small amount of sand in my pool

I was able to get off the multi valve, I was able to vacuum enough sand that the lateral assembly just slid out without much force. i rinsed it and each lateral arm is able to move up and down, but I’m not sure how to test it further than that. What I meant is that there is still a few pounds...

Small amount of sand in my pool

Do I need to remove all the sand of the filter? I removed enough that I was able to remove the inner mechanism, and it’s light enough now that I can move it. does that Umbrella mechanism connect or snap in to anything?

Small amount of sand in my pool

From the last time I emptied it, I just re-used the same sand that had been in there for 5+ years. for my maintenance, I typically backwash for 4-5mins and then I rinse 2-3mins.

Small amount of sand in my pool

But if I’m leaking some sand now, wouldn’t it mean something is defective or could it be it wasn’t sitting properly after I emptied and re-filled last time? i took out 85% of the sand last time, bit I didn’t put water back in as I was re-filling it, it’s all new to me as it was the first time...

Small amount of sand in my pool

I recently had to empty my sand filter for work being done in my Cabana and since then I noticed that there are areas near my returns where small amount of sand is accumulating. It’s reoccurred enough times after cleaning the pool and I can’t ignore it. Im assuming it’s possible I damaged...

Based on information here, I’ve never added CH to my Vinyl pool, could it have lead to any corrosion?

I live in a Canada, so my swim season is only about 4 months and then the pool is winterized. i have other threads regarding a rust like issue I’m having in different areas of the pool, which may be related to some welding work I had on my wrought iron pool fence, nothing I’ve tried has been...

By any chance could This be an indication of an issue (like a leak) The fact that one of my return jets doesn’t have any flow when I vacuum?

Struggling to remove existing pool rust-like stains made much worse after wrought iron fence repair - pics attached

By any chance could this issue in any way be related to not using any Calcium Hardness? Could it be corrosion? I’ve always followed the recommendation here that CH is a pool store money grab for vinyl pools.

Is there a lifetime subscription available for pool app?

Thanks, I’ll take a look at the video. This is what I’ve been doing up until now. If I click on new log and select test results, it tells me I need a subscription. If I’m on the log screen and I click on my last test results and update the date and information and I click the check mark, it...

My skimmer flap stays in the down position, does it have to be changed?

Definitely not moving and it’s cheap enough to replace, just doesn’t seem to be much mechanics on it, that’s why I’m surprised it’s not something I can just bend back or is related to the foam wearing out?

My skimmer flap stays in the down position, does it have to be changed?

Picture attached. I noticed more dirt than usual around the pool and I took a look at the skimmer and noticed the skimmer flap stays in the down position and doesn’t rise back up at all. Do I just replace it or is it something I have to bend on it to work like it used to?

I need to remove my filter from my Cabana for one day - Looking for help on the best way to do this

Ok I was up past midnight vacuuming the sand out, only to have the Cabana guys do an initial lift and to tell me the entire floor supporting the cabana has rotted out and they have nothing they can actually lift and I’ll need a carpenter to rebuild the foundation instead. Well at least I...

I need to remove my filter from my Cabana for one day - Looking for help on the best way to do this

Ok thanks, just waiting for the water to drain from the filter, I was concerned about water being in the pump but I guess it doesn’t matter. if I’m successful at emptying the sand, should I even bother trying to re-use it afterwards? I wrote some questions in post #7 in case you have time to...

I need to remove my filter from my Cabana for one day - Looking for help on the best way to do this

ok, just to get back to this. The individual I normally use was going to do it for me and they were scheduled to come today but they said since I didn’t I unscrew the drain cap, pressure valve, glass vial and let the sand dry for 48 hours, it would take them too long to do for the time they...

I need to remove my filter from my Cabana for one day - Looking for help on the best way to do this

Thanks, so just to confirm. Am I able to attach a Hose to drain the filter? I think someone mentioned the drain plug can have a hose attached, not sure if that’s accurate. If so, does that mean I have to unscrew the drain cap and then quickly attach a hose to that hole? Or is there a better way?

I need to remove my filter from my Cabana for one day - Looking for help on the best way to do this

I think I could remove the unions and one hose clamp in a way to remove just the filter, I think. What strategy would you use based on the pictures? Someone mentioned I could attach a hose to drain the water in the filter away from the cabana, where is that place to attach the hose as I don’t...
