Is my late 1970s pool properly bonded?

Thanks! Managed to find the original builder of my pool, who is still in business. And their electrician seems almost as good as Mike Holt. So am going to have him out to do an inspection.

Is my late 1970s pool properly bonded?

Hi folks. I’m on my 4th season as a pool owner after buying our current home in early 2017. The house came with a 32,000 gallon in-ground, gunite pool. Overall the pool is in good shape. Previous owners redid the plaster a year or so before selling. Most of the gear on the equipment pad is...

Equipment bonding question: Pump Heater and Filter?

Thanks ajw. Regarding Heat Pumps being bonded, can you point to something in the code / NEC that shows this? Changing subjects to GFCI...is there also anything pointing to why this isn't necessary on the heat pump? Will add my Rapak heat pump info tonight.

Equipment bonding question: Pump Heater and Filter?

I take some of the above back. Taking a second look, I've got no idea if my pool is even bonded. I see my pump is connected to a copper wire, but it may be a ground wire. It isn't connected to the screw at the top of the pump (12 O'clock), rather it's at like the 2 O'clock position...

Equipment bonding question: Pump Heater and Filter?

Hi folks: I managed to get my 42-year old Anthony Model 20 pool light working this week. Looks and works great! Part of this project has opened my eyes up to the importance of bonding all of the equipment and my pool, etc. I have no idea where / how my pool is bonded given the age. It is a...

Are most 500W bulbs for pools 130V vs 120V? Concerns?

Thanks all. Bulb appears to be working fine. Found this technical article which states 130V uses beefier filament and thus longer life, particularly when run at 120V https://blog.1000bulbs.com/home/why-buy-130-volt-light-bulbs

Are most 500W bulbs for pools 130V vs 120V? Concerns?

Hi folks: My older, Anthony Model 20 pool light says it can take up to a 500W, 120V bulb. INYOpools shows the 120V, 300W bulb as the only they recommend. I purchased both the 300W, as well as the 120V 500W from INYO. When the parts arrived, I was a bit surprised to see the 500W is...

Replacing bulb in old pool light - Lube for brass nuts/bolts?

Hi folks: Well, I'm going to attempt to replace the bulb in my old Anthony Model 20 pool light. I've got a new gasket, lens, and bulb from INYOpools. They are technically for a "Model 30" light, but others have said they fit the Model 20. Anyway, the light has 6-8 brass bolts around the...

Hi folks: I've got a 42 year old gunite pool. It is in good shape. This weekend I'm going to try to get the original pool light working. It is an Anthony Pools Model 20 lamp. I believe I've got all the right parts. New gasket. Extra Lens, etc. INYOpools is recommending a 300W R40...

Advice: Best way to change out old light / niche for new, modern

HI folks: I've got a 40 year old Gunite pool with an Anthony Model 20 pool light. It's getting difficult to find parts for the light and there are no LED bulb options. In a year or so, I'm likely going to need to redo my pool deck. It is original and needs some work. I'll likely hire a...

Advice: Repair or Replace Old Pool Light

Hi folks: I've got a 40 year old Gunite Pool with an old, Anthony Model 20 light. The light is so old that you can't even find diagrams or parts for it when doing a search. Even though our pool is old, it is in pretty great shape. The prior owners redid the plaster in recent years. The...

How to seal / patch cracks in pool deck

Hi folks: I've got a 40 year old pool. There are a handful of cracks in the pool deck. Some have been there for a while. I see the previous owner of our house patched them with some caulking. Can anyone recommend a good product to caulk / patch cracks in the pool deck? I don't want water...

It's Confirmed...I definitely have a leak in my Gunite pool :(

Thanks, but I can't not run the pump that long. I've got an SWG and need to keep FC up. I'm going to do some die tests this afternoon and at least check the classic areas: SKimmer, return jets, light fixture.

It's Confirmed...I definitely have a leak in my Gunite pool :(

The pool leaks with the pump on or off. There is no air in the pump basket with the pump on. I do have a few small drips around the DE filter connection but these aren't the primary problem.

It's Confirmed...I definitely have a leak in my Gunite pool :(

My pool guy suspects this area as well. I did look and there isn't a crack per se in the area where the skimmer meets the Gunite...but there is a definite hard joint with a prominent seam that isn't sealed, epoxy, caulked. I'm going to try this first and foremost. But I worry it's the...

It's Confirmed...I definitely have a leak in my Gunite pool :(

Well, I did a bucket test last night on my 40 year old, 32000 gallon Gunite pool. And it failed. Water in bucket essentially didn't move. Water in pool went down about 1/2" and this was with the pump off. So I'm losing water with the pump not running. I've done some research and understand...

    Concerned I have a leak....

Thanks all. I'll do the bucket test this evening. I did locate a small leak on the equipment pad. It drips occasionally from the drain valve (think garden hose spigot) one drip every minute or so. And then it seems there is another slow leak around the backflush valve on my DE filter...

    Concerned I have a leak....

Hi folks: I'm a second year pool owner having bought a house with a 40 year old gunite pool (32,000 gallons). Overall the pool is in good shape. It looks like it was refinished 5-10 years ago as there are chunks of plaster in the floor drain line (which is a different story.) Anyway, I'm...

Help for old Anthony Pools Model 20 light - how to upgrade to LED?

Hi folks: Pool newbie here. My wife and I purchased our home earlier this year. It has a 32,000 gallon Gunite pool build in 1979. Previous owners resurfaced it a few years ago so the pool is in great shape. The pool light doesn't work. I assume the old incandescent bulb is blown, but...
