    PLUMBING QUESTIONS - Tampa, FL - Pool/Spa - Started Nov 23rd

I'm probably one of the 4 in permitting :) I think I'll be more surprise if they actually finish in 12 weeks than not when mine starts, lol. Seems like pools take forever. Yeah, when I was in my salesperson's office, he showed me the calendar and there are a lot of home builder pools on the...

    Under construction in Tampabay Florida

My PB told me that they do the screen before plaster because the metal shavings from installing the screen get all over the place and it's easier to clean up before there is water in the pool.

    The Great Slapulator Pool Saga

I've been buying stuff too even though my dig isn't until April. Stacking it in the guest's room so no guests allowed until like July! :)

    New build in Tampa

Yeah, I didn't bother deleting the vacuum line either...just mentioning it b/c I know someone else will, haha. Also, if you want something other than the quartz plaster, ask for a list of the upcharges...it varies by surface and color.

    New build in Tampa

Hello! Few notes: 1. You should look into getting the microbrites or intellibrites instead of globrites...the globrites have a special niche and can only be replaced with globrites. 2. The pool isn't that long so I'm guessing you wont be doing laps but if that was your plan, you may want to...

Building new home and pool. Opinions on design

Are you limited in space (or budget) to go wider than 36'? It will probably be "ok" for laps but longer would be better. 4' is deep enough for flip turns... definitely don't go more shallow though. That'll be a nice size sunshelf!

    PLUMBING QUESTIONS - Tampa, FL - Pool/Spa - Started Nov 23rd

I took 6 inches off my sunshelf to get under the next price increase at 600 square feet...so it's officially 599 sq ft but I plan on asking the PM to put those 6 inches back in "accidentally," LOL. :)

Drain covers, Skimmer lid covers, in deck umbrella holders, etc

I don't know how to link to a build but this is the title: New Build in The Woodlands TX - Please Critique See page 4 for picture of travertine skimmer lid with hole.

Drain covers, Skimmer lid covers, in deck umbrella holders, etc

I was also considering HIDE covers but there are other builds on here where people were able to just use a travertine paver without the HIDE feature. I asked my PB for a quote on the HIDE covers but I haven't received it yet.

O/B in Gilbert, AZ for 2nd Time-shotcrete-spa depth question

Where is the salt cell going to go or is it there and I'm just missing it?

    Under construction in Tampabay Florida

Don't you have to keep the slope of the patio? Where is the kitchen going? Maybe that impacts the need for a slope (or lack thereof).

What are these "seasons" you speak of? ;)

    Under construction in Tampabay Florida

Hmmm, I'm very curious to hear what the PB says b/c it looks like you're either going to have a very steep slope or need a step (I have no idea what the code, if any, is around having a step up to the pool). :(

My New Pool in SCHERTZ, TX - SUNDEK

Yes, the tile spacing looks good! I am thinking of having that done in my pool too.

    Under construction in Tampabay Florida

It's not supposed to be perfectly level b/c you want the water to drain away from the pool towards the deck drains. I believe the slope is supposed to be between 2% and 4%. I'm not exactly sure where you measure from...I would think from the edge of the pool...is the coping perfectly level or...

Is Abalone Worth it in Deep Pools?

I can't speak from personal experience but I've read that abalone can cause staining. If you type "abalone" in the search box you should be able to find some threads about it.

Plumbing and electrical, and many other build frustrations! Need help

All the PBs are busy now so the waits you are experiencing are typical...I paid a deposit in Oct and I'm not even scheduled for dig until April. Are you going to have a cage? How many inches tall is the wall right now where the sunshelf is?

Plumbing and electrical, and many other build frustrations! Need help

Hi Hubbs, I can't answer your questions but wanted to suggest that given your lack of trust in the PB, you may want to post what kind of equipment you are getting so experts here can look at it and make sure it is good. Also, if you post a picture of the whole pool showing where the lights are...

Florida woman finally building a pool!

Who said the additional charge would be $1k to $2.5k...was that the PB? Did he not ask where the breaker was before giving you a quote to build the pool? Originally my PB was going to put the pool equipment on the side of the house where my breaker box is but then I decided I really wanted it...

Electric Heat Pump Pool Heater Recommendations?

Yes, the larger filter was something I learned here...one of the PBs wanted to give me a smaller one b/c it was "adequate," lol! I will have a cage (I have wetlands right behind the pool so bugs and alligators that I'd like to try to keep out and cats to keep in!) so that will help keep junk...

Electric Heat Pump Pool Heater Recommendations?

Hi LapPoolMike! I don't have any advice as I'm just starting my build. I was going to see how the first year goes and then decide if I need a heater and/or chiller. Do you have a chiller? I saw an old post of yours about possibly getting a solar cover...did you do that? I saw the pictures...

    Drainage issue into my pool

Wow, sorry you are going thru this. Did you get a quote for installing french drains? May be cheaper than hiring an attorney? Since some of your neighbors don't have pools...did they contact the home builder? Home builder can't use the same excuse with them. FYI for any non-Floridians. CDD...

New Pool in Central Florida- Need some guidance

My build hasn't started yet but I'm going with travertine decking b/c I like the look of it! I don't have any kids that I have to worry about running and slipping. One of the PBs that I talked to said we could do concrete pavers with travertine coping if we wanted so that may be an option you...

Amazon.com: SwimWays Terra Sol Sonoma Chaise Lounge - White: Garden & Outdoor These are a LOT cheaper (but they may be too big for your shelf). They are designed to float but you can drill a hole into them and fill them with water so they stay in place. :)

I'm planning on getting the ledge lounger chaise (not sure if I'll get the regular or the deep version). I may get the ledge lounger table that has an umbrella sleeve to put drinks on. I meant what are you going to do about adding water as it evaporates...it looks like you aren't getting an...

    PLUMBING QUESTIONS - Tampa, FL - Pool/Spa - Started Nov 23rd

Did the inspector look at rebar and plumbing? I wasn't sure if that's done at the same time. Did you consider getting Primera Stone for just the spa? Other builds have done that so that it's smoother to sit on although I think they've mentioned that the colors wouldn't match perfectly...

    PLUMBING QUESTIONS - Tampa, FL - Pool/Spa - Started Nov 23rd

Few more comments. 1. Those look like regular main drains, not channel. 2. How many circuits come with the Intellicenter you are getting, 5, 8, 10? (Will there be any left over for landscape lights, etc if you want). 3. Make sure you are not getting charged for Screenlogic since it's not...
