I guess I'm still confused between what he quoted and what you are suggesting. Should I expect what you have suggested to be cheaper than the Omni system he spec'd? I'm fine with a system specific remote and being able to control it while not at home would be nice, if that adds significant cost...

Ok, so the PB quoted the Super Pump VS 700 Omni with a OmniHub daughter board and the AquaRite 25k gallon SWG. I'm new to this, so forgive me if I'm off, but it sounds like he has quoted the automation in the pump, interfacing into the SWG with the daughter board. If I change to the AquaPlus...

Great, thank you all for the help. We're almost positive we're going to have the fiberglass pool installed this summer and we've had the builder hold our spot in line. He'll be coming out sometime this week to finalize all the details and get the deposit for the shell. The pool is a little over...

Interestingly enough Leading Edge says they use pea stone when installing them through their sister company. I also see you have a 14x30 pool, which is nearly identical in size to what we plan to get. With two young girls who would grow up with this, do you think it is big enough for our family?

Any thoughts? I would love to lock in the deal before prices jump at the end of this month. This is also our only realistic fiberglass installer and waiting for vinyl would be at least a year and a half away. I've requested backfill and installation requirements from the pool builder and...

I asked the fiberglass builder to use gravel instead of pea/sand as shown on the quote and this was the response... "Gravel is not good for backfill. Its too jagged to be against the pool, and it also has to be compacted. Pea stone is by far the best option. Some people do call pea stone pea...

The FG quote does have a sump line w/o pump listed. Is the pump typically permanently installed and turns itself on like one would expect from the sump in their house? Or is it something you monitor and drop a pump in on occasion to pump it down? As for electrical I should be able to cover this...

The vinyl guy that was here tonight had us quoted at $76k, which just isn't acceptable for vinyl considering we're under $60k from the local guy albeit we would have to wait until '22. How typical is it for these things to go over the quote? Seems like it would be pretty easy for the builder to...

I agree our preference would be fiberglass. There is another vinyl builder that is coming over tonight to go over our options. They are a much larger operation from down further towards the Detroit metro area and they have availability in July/August of this year. Would leave a pretty short swim...

You'll see the fiberglass quote is much less detailed and this is what was provided after I asked for more details on specific equipment selected. The pool is a fiberglass Leading Edge Bellaire model... Bellaire Pool Description Quite the premium to pay over vinyl, which should land under $60k...

Am I wrong in thinking that a safety cover like this... Mesh Safety Cover ... at less than $500 is a better option for me than paying the PB over $2k? I'm pretty much sold on going NG for heat and will enjoy the upfront savings. My wife thinks the pool will get used very often during the week...

This builder is probably the top one in our area. There are much bigger operations in the metro Detroit operation, but this one is by far the most known in my area. There will be no room to negotiate as they simply don't need to haggle due to demand. It will mostly come down to whether the...

I will have to top the pool off with water from my garden hose. Pretty sure they use the trucks to fill once they drop in the liner so they can do it quickly, or are you implying that I could hire a water truck myself for cheaper? Doing it through my own plumbing would take days I would think...

Great feedback, very much appreciated from the both of you. A robot I was definitely planning to purchase on my own. We do have natural gas but was drawn to a heat pump due to efficiency and longer life. I do understand the heat pump won't work below certain temperatures and around here we've...

The vinyl pool builders local to me are booked solid through this coming year and we're looing at possibly mid-summer 2022 before we could get anything built if we get in line right now. Here is a snapshot of the quote and what they are including. Totals out to $65k and some change with tax. I'm...

    First Results from TF-100 Kit

I've added bleach in the amounts stated above, both of which I got from the pool math app based on my ~2500 gallon pool. The target was 10 FC and even after the second application of bleach I'm still only registering 3.5 to 4 FC. Does this seem normal and that I'll have to keep adding more...

    First Results from TF-100 Kit

Really appreciate all the help. I added some bleach earlier this morning (34oz) and just had to add more (27oz) after testing my FC again. At least the solution clearly had turned pink this time instead of barely getting a pink hue this morning. I'll give it another couple hours and test again.

    First Results from TF-100 Kit

Total new guy question I'm sure, but if I have a salt pool, why and I looking to hit the non-SWCG pool SLAM level of 10 to 12? Is this just because my CYA level is so low? Or because during the SLAM the SWCG is turned off? At what point should I raise the CYA to 70-80ppm as the Pool Math app...

    First Results from TF-100 Kit

Just got my TF-100 kit for my little AGP. We have big plans to go in-ground in the next year or two so I'm trying to get the hang of water chemistry down now. It is a salt pool, sand filter, just had to add some water so I know it needs a little salt added. Intex says 2587 gallons. The pool was...

    Planning an in-ground Michigan build.

I do have a vinyl pool builder coming today to look over what they could do for us. The fiberglass installer did stop by to confirm that they could in fact get the pool into the backyard, so that appears to at least be an option.

    Planning an in-ground Michigan build.

First post here on the forum after lurking for a little bit. We've been using a 15' Intex the last few summers and with the kids getting bigger (just turned 6 and 3 ) we've decided to seriously explore an in-ground pool. We're in the Saginaw, Michigan area and it's mostly vinyl installers near...
