New T-CELL-15 Instant Salt Reading Low

Just an update, a while back I contacted the seller (Pool Supply 4 Less) and they finally got in touch with Hayward about the missing serial number sticker and Hayward sent me out a new T-Cell-15. The new one does have the sticker with serial 3E20247-704915.

    TF-100 Chlorine Cylinder Losing Markings?

Mine is losing the markings as well. I used a knife to scribe a line at the 10ml mark so I could still see it.

PH always high... cant seem to get it lower

Aerating increases pH. If you already have high pH, you do not need to aerate when you add MA to lower TA. Just add the MA and let the ph come back up on its own unless it's super low.

    Adding Cyanuric to Pool

Well I might as well add my two cents. When I add CYA, normally its about one pound. I put it in a sock, hang it over the return, kneel down and keep squeezing it with my bare hands for about 10 minutes, maybe 15 minutes max and the entire thing is dissolved in that time. My hand hasn't fallen...

Installing SWG - Looking for advice

It lowers pH, you will never really need to raise pH unless it is super low, because as a by-product of an SWCG, it raises pH on its own when generating chlorine. I chose the CO2 system because all I need is a 20lb can of CO2 which is available at almost any welding store or beverage store -...

Installing SWG - Looking for advice

You can set the Hayward to chlorinate in increments of 5%. I have the AquaRite Pro with the sense and dispense. As mentioned by other members while I was researching before purchase, the ORP sensor isn't the greatest. It does not sense chlorine levels, it uses the voltage, salt and other...

Installing SWG - Looking for advice

It is not an issue to have a larger capacity cell. In fact it is recommended to have double the capacity of your pool, so you are good on that. While I am not a SWCG expert, I did install mine this year and I think what you have proposed will work with no issues, but the experts will be by to...

    Green pool.....nothing is working!

Nothing to add here but in PA I paid 300 per 5000/gal. And I did it twice if that helps.

    SWG wiring and timer questions

My situation is a little different as my pump is 240v and my Aquarite Pro is 110v. So my timer is wired 240v with 12/3 romex to a two pole gfi breaker. The neutral goes from the breaker and passes through the timer box to the Aquarite Pro unit so it gets 110v from one of the 240 lines.

    Adding Salt

I used the same salt for mine, no issues other then a few tiny rogue "rocks" that were not salt and did not dissolve and had to be sucked up.

    SWG wiring and timer questions

I use the Tork DTU40 digital timer, it is fairly inexpensive (less then 100). Both my pump and SWCG are wired to it and it works well.

    SWG with a Timer

I'm not sure, I have mine mounted on a wood panel next to my panel box which is inside my pool shed.

Have no worries, we will have you swimming in crystal clear water well before then.

When to stop "acid addition & aeration" cycle to reduce TA

I would leave your TA alone and dial in pH as needed with MA, both should then stabilize. The ph of 7.8 isn't necessarily a bad thing and if that's where it stays, let it alone until it gets to 8.0 or above. Normally you'd use MA to lower TA and aerate to get your pH back up again without...

    Green pool.....nothing is working!

As mentioned, I would first recommend a better test kit. Either TF-100 at tftestkits.net or Taylor K-2006C. This will allow you to properly test during a SLAM everyone here mentions. The pool is green because of the algae. It has algae because the FCL was/is too low for such a high level of...

    SWG with a Timer

If you do look for a timer in the future, check out the Tork DTU40, it is digital and works with 120/240 and is not that expensive. That is what I use.

    SWG CYA question

Although CYA is recommended higher, if you look at the corresponding CYA/FC levels on the chart at Chlorine/ CYA Chart, the FC min and targets are actually lower then their non-swcg counterparts, because through research the TF team has found that a little bit lower FC level is OK with an SWCG...

Flakes coming thru the system at startup??

I am sure the other pros can chime in but as far as I know, MA lowers TA. You don't need to aerate, that just raises ph without affecting TA and is a safe way to get your ph higher and keep your TA where it's at. Otherwise it'd be a roller coaster effect.

Flakes coming thru the system at startup??

Yes that is correct, but you don't need to aerate. Just add proper dose(s) of MA and your TA will go down along with ph and since your ph was/is high, let that go down too, it will come up on its own due to the SWCG.

Flakes coming thru the system at startup??

But aerating raises PH.... aren't you trying to get it lower?

Flakes coming thru the system at startup??

Doesn't aeration raise ph ? For example if I needed to lower TA with MA but my ph was already fine, I would add MA and then aerate to raise ph without raising TA.

New T-CELL-15 Instant Salt Reading Low

I do not have autofill but I do have alot of splash out with kids and I do add water weekly due to that and/or evap. We also have alot of rain recently so much that I have to pump down to normal skimmer level. So my actual salt did go down some but is no where near the levels being reported by...

New T-CELL-15 Instant Salt Reading Low

I hear ya, but there's no sticker. The place I bought it from (Pool Supply 4 Less) said they get them sealed from the factory and never had one without a sticker. Always a first I guess. If by diagnostics you mean the voltage and amps, they are -26.09v and -6.06a, 84 degrees and 2400 ppm. I...

New T-CELL-15 Instant Salt Reading Low

No he put the original cell back in. He was going to replace the PCB board but figured he'd call Hayward first and he said I need more salt. Diagnostic readings were all good. No other issues with the cell or the system except salt is reading way low and it seems that if I use the auto ORP...

New T-CELL-15 Instant Salt Reading Low

So after another visit by the local authorized service center, he swapped out the cell with another and still got the same low salt readings. Independent salt test readings by the Taylor kit and the Hayward salt meter both come back around 3100 which is well within spec. But Hayward support says...

    Taylor Drop Tests

When doing the Taylor drop tests for things like TA and CH, do you stop the drops on the last drop that changes the color? or do you keep going for a more "darker" color? For example when testing TA, do you stop when it changes from green to "red" even though it's more of a pink then a red. Or...
