    Pool Fence Passing Code Question

My worry is that the snake fence is very rigid and stiff and inspector may see it as a possible stepping ledge.

    Pool Fence Passing Code Question

We are finishing up our new pool install and we want to attach a 3’ galvanized steel snake fence (1/4”X1/4”) to our 54” pool fence. I’ve already attached some of the snake fence and realized it may not pass safety code. What are your thoughts? See photos I will mostly likely take down what I...

    Fiberglass Pool Install

Luckily I’ll be home for the entire process. After having done research for a year now, I know what to look for. After meeting with so many builders I quickly figured out that cheap isn’t quality. I’ll be starting a thread soon about my build.

After following this thread for a while I’m now a bit nervous for my fiberglass dig that is set to start next week. Glad you are finally getting things headed in the right direction.

    Fiberglass build in NoVa

Looks great! I have two questions: 1. Are you happy with the larger river rock And color? We are looking at the same for our pool build next month. 2. What did the neighbors say about the pool shell sitting in the yard before it was installed? congrats on the outcome.

Just starting research and quotes in NJ

I started my PB research in May and signed a contract in October. Met with over 10 in person and spoke with over 15 via phone. It took some time but I’m glad I did what I did. After reading many posts here and learning from each builder I spoke with, I was able to determine which builder was...

    Fiberglass build in NoVa

We are having a BR Coral Sea 2 installed in March and many builders I spoke with noted the weight of BR pools. My PB said he had one crane operator almost tip. He never hired him again. Luckily my PB only installs BR and knows the weight and what he’s working with. Good luck with the build.

Frustrating Update: WHY DON’T BUILDERS (at least in my area) COMMUNICATE WELL!? We’ve discovered fiberglass for us is just too expensive for our budget. Vinyl fits within budget and bigger. So, through a friend I found a pool builder/ renovator who’s family has owned the business for 40+...

Getting close to choosing a PB and design, looking for thoughts on quote & equipment - Charlotte NC

That’s a very reasonable price for the build. Here in Wilmington your CLT price would only get me fiberglass pool with brushed concrete. No spa and no travertine. Good for you! Hope it goes well. I too have met with 7 builders. Confusing and eye-opening!

    Let the games begin...

Love the design! I’ve been researching and interviewing builders for three months now. Consider yourself fortunate to get that size pool, concrete, spa and travertine for your price. Here in Eastern NC that pool would be well over $100k. So good for you. Hope it goes well.

Another quick update: After meeting with the latest PB, we’ve come up with a different design and layout. Design is Barrier Reef Coral Sea Lounger 35’. It is shorter than the SJ 44’ pool, but has more actual swim space. We are considering running the pool straight away from the house (see...

Short update with help needed on equipment: Meeting with a second fiberglass builder Friday. They seem to be a very good company with a higher install standard (stone base vs sand). They install both San Juan pools and Barrier Reef. BR being a bit less expensive due to location to factory in...

We really like this pool. It’s a new design San Juan is coming out with in 2020. The Taj Mahal with ledge and benches. No worries about the rock. I place commercial grade fabric under all mulch and stone. Works very well. I’ll also use steel edging on the grass side. How do you think deck...

Equipment will be placed to the side of the house, off the page out of sight. Slope won’t be an issue. Flat yard and pool will be elevated a bit so water can run off away from pool and house. Run down driveway or towards drainage easement in the back.

So I wanted to have a more detailed drawing of our pool project. The possible PB for this model (San Juan Taj Mahal w/ ledge) doesn’t use CAD. So I made this rendering to help everyone. It is pretty much to scale except for my deck jets ??‍♂️ Thoughts on layout?

Luckily for us grading won’t be a major issue. Some dirt/sand will be spread around but most will be hauled away. We will have some new sod to put down, but we have large tree beds with mulch and stone. Plus we don’t use our backyard irrigation.

They will only cap off irrigation lines they pull up. It’s up to the homeowner to repair irrigation and sod.

Hello, After spending some time on this site and speaking with many PB in our area, I believe we are ready to sign a contract soon. Originally we wanted to have vinyl but couldn’t find a licensed builder in our area (vinyl guys aren’t licensed here ??‍♂️). Plus after we upgraded steps...

We have increased our pool size for that very reason. Our kids will only grow physically and so will their friends.

We are debating one or two on a 10x10 circular ledge. Don’t want bubblers to be under the chairs.

Shallow end sounds like us. We have gone from traditional pool to sport (3.5-5-3.5) and now back to traditional (3.5-6.4) Decking is tricky. We don’t want to add a ton of concrete because our driveway is in the rear of our home. But, we know we need to have enough and stage it accordingly.

Something You Wish You had Done was...

We are nearing the point of selecting our pool builder. So, I wanted to through a simple question to everyone: What is something you wish you had done during the pool build that you didn’t? (i. e. More swim space, more decking, vs, tanning ledge, more space between fence and decking...

Follow up So I asked the PB of this design for references. I was told they do NOT give out info of their clients as they respect their privacy. Was told they have built 20 pools this year and have averaged 10 in each year prior. This due to the owner/builder finally hiring someone to run the...

Hello, I’ve been receiving quotes for 18x36’ Mnt Lake vinyl pool. Below is from a builder we trust, and they are the only ones to actually give us a design (other just spoke construction). Which actually is close to what we want in our yard. Not much detail in regards to equipment (Hayward)...

Licensed or Not? Interviewing (NC) Pool Builders Now

Greetings, Creating my first post to TFP. I’ve been reading and researching many posts for a while and haven’t come across anything regarding licensing. What has your experience been with a PB who is licensed and one who is not? Good, bad? We are currently in the stage of interviewing and...
