Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

I think we are going to have the SR Smith Artisan ladder (ART-1003) and rail (ART-1004) put in. Our pool will be a salt pool, the SR Smith site suggests getting the “marine grade” versions. Anyone have any experience with this, would it matter more for the ladder since it’ll be in the water...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

I wasn’t clear with how the layout with the slide will be...the center bench where the slide wraps around will be blocked in on the back b/c it will have a waterfall/sheer decent kinda mini grotto setup...so you won’t be able to use that one to get out. There is the one deep end bench on the...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Some updates from the past couple weeks: steel, gunite, plumbing, equipment in. Electrical is scheduled for 12/1 and gas line for heater 12/3. There will be a slide coming around the one center bench and going into the deep end (8’). There is the one deep end bench opposite to get in/out which...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Yes, was definitely thinking close to the door for the reason you and others have stated. One thought I had was putting hot tub to the right side of the pic so it would be closer to the shallow end of the pool...maybe easier to go between there and pool but I don’t know, that’s why looking for...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Rebar was done today, they’re gonna clean up near the house. Gonna have patio go near the house so we have a sitting area, eating table, and outdoor kitchen area. Would also like to have a stand alone hot tub. Open to suggestions on where best location for hot tub would be.

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Our intention was not to have a built in spa, that was just the very original designer’s mock up. So we decided to not have the spa from the start when we started talking pricing so there was no need to credit back (yeah, built-in spa would have been more expensive by a good bit and I know you...

Indoor flooring that isn’t slippery: laminate, tile, other ideas?

Any recommendations for flooring for inside family room and entryway leading to powder room that isn’t slippery for people/kids that are coming/running in from pool to bathroom? We have old carpet that will be ripped out in family room and tile in entryway and powder room that is slippery so...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

For shallow end water depth...do you have a recommendation? Do people do 4’ water depth or is the wall height 4’ typically?

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

My wife’s brother just bought a house that had an existing pool and a fairly simple rock waterfall which she liked...more for just the relaxing sound that it brought to the while backyard...so we will see, really need to get a better idea of the water feature design and cost to see if is...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Met with PB today, discussed going to 40’ long x 18’ wide rectanwith 8’ deep end and removing the spa. This would now make the tanning ledge run the width of the pool and be 18’ x 6’. Need to get an updated rendering. Can switch to gas heater which is my preference. No additional cost for...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Is it better to have a gunite pool shot this fall and have everything finished in the spring if the PB can accommodate with scheduling or have then start everything in the spring?

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Scheduling a follow up meeting with PB to go over equipment updates and design...like going with VS pump, gas heater...if we added a water feature like a waterfall would that run off a separate pump or not? We will not have a built-in spa, plan to add a stand alone at some point. I need to get...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

I was thinking about...if going 6 ft why not go 8’ since most aren’t standing in 6’ anyways. Plus if we have a decent size shallow end then should have plenty of room to hang out. I guess it depends on the size of the pool, 36’ should be long enough to have best of both? Thanks, Jim

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Thank you for the feedback and pic. I was thinking the same with the tanning ledge. Trying to decide if a bench similar to yours is best or a swim out type. I like the idea of having a bench on both sides of the deep end. Does anyone get ladders anymore? Thanka, Jim

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

JJ In regards to the depth, seems like most suggest 4’ shallow end and we agree with having a good size shallow end to hang out in. Deep end would like to be deep enough for kids to jump in so maybe 6’, could go deeper but not sure if we need to if we don’t have a diving board which we won’t...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

JJ, The tanning ledge certainly could run the length but we do not have a set plan for it yet so open to ideas/suggestions. The width of the pool will be 18’. I think our daughter may swim laps so that maybe better suited to not have the tanning ledge run the full width? Or offset it? Not...

Update - Gunite, plumbing done- 18’x 40’ gunite salt pool in New Jersey - Add a ladder in deep end or no?

Hi Tim, We actually won’t have a built in spa, it was just part of their initial design as we weren’t sure. But I think we would do a stand alone hot tub. As for the tanning ledge, they were stating around 100 sq ft, although we could adjust based on what would make the most sense. I would...

New from South Jersey - Trying to Figure Out What Type of Pool to Get

Thanks. I'm sure proper maintenance is key, but how long could one expect a gunite salt pool to last before it would need to be refinished?
