    Water cloudy under cover

I just sent you a direct message as I am not sure about posting links to other online stores in the forum.

    Water cloudy under cover

I would agree there. As long as the local business is honest, I'll support.

    Water cloudy under cover

$2.50 a gallon for 12% near me and I got two 5 gal containers. Personally I'd rather get direct from the pool store because it is a local business and its 2% more. I like to support local businesses first.

    Water cloudy under cover

Update... I was wrong. Pool store near me is accepting online orders and curbside for liquid chlorine!! YES! So its 12%. I cancelled the HD order. I pick up the chlorine tomorrow and I guess I will decide to either open now or wait a bit.

    Water cloudy under cover

I just picked up 5 (3pack 10% HDX) at HD for 8 bucks a pop. Not bad. 128oz each. So, thats 1920oz of 10% to at least get me started. Opening pool now would just be way too early. I'd be running the pump a full two weeks or more and that water is not going to be any where near close to...

    Water cloudy under cover

Few things come to mind... right now no pool stores are open. Getting liquid chlorine is like finding gold. So I may be regulated to buying 10% HDX from HD. I was planning on opening possibly by 5/14. Thats 15 days away. But it is going to be 74 on Sunday. I venture to guess that water...

    Water cloudy under cover

So its a really windy day and a small section of my pool cover came off today and it gave me the chance to check the water quality. I closed the pool in perfect condition. Water looks cloudy and possibly starting to turn green. With nearly a month or so to go before opening, what can I do to...

WOW What a learning experience... so far.

Good to know. Is there a general rule of thumb or calculation that is done to give an expectation of how much chlorine is lost at a particular level?

Township workers. Lawn cut and brush cut. But like I said... I have to do a lot of it. Last year I made my kids collect the water bottles and trash that accumulated from wind in winter to be environment friendly :).

It's a township water runoff pond. All the properties have slopes which is great, no basement flooding! Might as well be mine though... I'm the only one who takes care of it. (Except this year as I didn't have time.) As much as I can :). From Easter until the first freeze there is a...

It's closed. FC 20, CYA 35-40, and Poly 60. Man.. What a last three weeks! This site/forum is awesome and thank you to everyone that helped. I hope this thread can help others too. I also didn't realize how much chlorine I was losing on a daily basis due to the sun. My yard gets DIRECT sun...

It definitely doesn't. Soon as stores open, going on a Poly hunt! I guess I add this while filter is running for a couple of hours then close? Dosing instructions on bottle will probably say so but figured I'd ask...

WOW What a learning experience... so far.

Thank you for that link. I just read it. Now the question is, what in the heck is in this winterizing kit that I have here. I bought it about a month ago in prep before I started this journey because it is what I had always done. So, breaking that trend I want to make sure I have the right...

Update! Last night: FC: 21.5 CC: 0.5 This morning: FC: 21.0 CC: 0 CYA: 30-35 PH: 7.2 TA: 130 Floor is clean! Saw 1 small spot of dead algae but I vac'd that up. Other than that. I'd say this pool is in great shape. FINALLY! Time to close this SOB! Question... Do I let the FC come down a...

Update on levels: Previous: FC: 23.6 CC: 1 Current: FC: 17.5 CC: 1 I see dead algae for the first time since I can remember. In 2 years I have not seen it on the bottom of the pool. Pretty awesome. Target FC was/is 20. According to Pool Math I need 7.8oz of 65% Cal-Hypo. I have 1 bag...

WOW What a learning experience... so far.

Thats odd. I mean it makes sense but last week when I added 5lbs it didn't even budge. Water stayed pristine clear. CYA was over 200 but... IDK if that has anything to do with it.

WOW What a learning experience... so far.

Yep I didn't do liquid chlorine. I did cal-hypo shock at 68%. IDK what was in that water/filter before but its out now. I've been looking at store brand bleach and most of them do not show the %. I called my pool store to see if they still have any liq chlorine left but if they don't I...

WOW What a learning experience... so far.

Morning test is as follows... FC - 23.6 CC - 1 Last night after adding in the bleach (Cal Hypo) the pool turned super cloudy. Which is something I have not seen in a long time. This year anytime I have shocked the pool it would just remain crystal clear. I assume this is the chlorine...

Definitely. Really appreciate the info and help from everyone. In the morning I will test and see where I am. Obviously I cannot start the OCLT tonight so tomorrow I think I can do that. Between the morning and night... I should be testing the FC/CC and determining if I need to add more...

Ok here we go... This is where I stand at the moment... FC - 0 CC - 0 PH - 7.2 TA - 130 CH - 110 CYA - 45-50 Time to SLAM! Now... I want to be 100% sure about this. I currently have a handful of bags of shock. The ingredients are... Active Cal Hypo 68.0% Other - 32.0% Available Chlorine...

So after an 80% water change... I am at 120 CYA. I just put the vacuum in and got it on waste. Another 60% coming out. By my math, that should get me to 50 CYA. Agree?

WOW What a learning experience... so far.

BTW... The pool finally got down to about 15" of water. Began refill about 30 min ago. Ideally if the pool can be filtering by the morning then tomorrow evening I should be able to start the SLAM. I am going to test CYA when the pool is about half full and that should give me an indication of...

I'm looking at your signature. What is your chlorinator injection method? Or do you just dump it in?
