    Mustard Algae shock

Ok, so I've completed my SLAM as of this morning. Passed all the parameters including overnight test. Now I'm attempting to get the shock level up to the mustard algae level of 35. I've added bottles and bottles of bleach per the PoolMath Calculator on this forum and it's getting no where...

    First SLAM Questions

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'll check the CYA again tomorrow. I did it outside last time but it was slightly different from the protocol you listed. Fingers crossed we're getting close!

    First SLAM Questions

Yes, we pulled the lights before the slam and again 2 days ago. The only thing we haven't taken apart is the vacuum and I was considering doing that this weekend. It lives in the water though so I wasn't sure if the FC would kill everything. Will swimming effect the length of the slam...

    First SLAM Questions

Hi All, This is my first try at slamming our pool. We have had on and off problems with yellow algae for the past 2-3 summers. So we got the good kit, made the switch and started the slam 7 days ago. We're still losing 2-3 ppm at night and I'm testing and adjusting the water 3-4 times per...

    MUstard algae keeps coming back!

Great! Sorry, i wasn't clear on the CYA. When is used 50/50 my level came back at 55 so i multipled by 2 to get 110. So hopefully with the drain, we'll be close to an acceptable level. Thanks for your help!

    MUstard algae keeps coming back!

The 110 came from a diluted test with 50% pool water and 50% tap water. We drained the pool this morning down to the jets. We don't have a submersible pump so were at the mercy of the main drain. I'm estimating we were able to drain at least a 3rd of the pool. In the process of refilling now...

    MUstard algae keeps coming back!

Hi All, I'm new to this group but have been stalking the site for awhile now. Every summer it seems for the past 2-3 years we deal with mustard alge once it gets super hot. We live in Texas and have a shallow pool so the water temp heats up quickly despite the 2 shades we have hanging above...
