Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

Hah! Happy to report the day was a great success - somehow got the pool up to 84f, and it was full the entire day. Thanks again everyone! Happy 4th of July! :)

Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

Good point, I just turned it back on, off of boost. Mine seems to set its own level, currently it's 44%. Until my TF100 comes in, I'm dipsticking it to get a rough idea of my chlorine - so far so good, looks like I'm a hair over ideal. Tomorrow I'll do a little more vacuuming, add some water...

Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

Hallelujah, I am clear! Well, 95% clear. I have been vacuuming to waste diligently, boosting the swg, and draining the filter housing a few times per day. Now let's see if I can get warm. Heat pump is on 24/7 and the swg is off in anticipation of a pool full of kids tomorrow. Doubt I'll...

Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

One quick question - my TA is pretty low, should I be adding some baking soda now, or hold off until the water clears up?

Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

Tonight I deep-cleaned all the cartridges with an electric pressure washer - went about 10x faster than my previous hose-only method. There was much gunk, they're like new now. I also dumped in the liquid CYA - it's supposed to look like cream, right? Without any kind of seal I start thinking...

A huge thank you to Mike for bringing his kit over and testing my water! We often hear of the kindness of Western New Yorkers, nice to see it in action. Just before Mike arrived, I ran to Leslie for a couple gallons of shock (if needed) and decided to have them do a test as well. Here are...

Mike, I sent a PM, but oddly don't see the message in my sent messages. Just in case the forum ate it, my cell is [redacted]. Call or shoot me a text if you'll be in the area, I'll owe you a beer. MVP indeed!! :D John

Hi Mike - I'm in East Amherst, behind Spoth farms. I'll send you a PM with my contact info in case you're nearby.

Thanks - I see the Taylor K-2006 for $55 on Amazon. If this really is as good as the kit that's highly regarded here I'll order it and will have it in hand tomorrow unless someone screams "nooooooo, TF100 is the only way to salvation!"

Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

Thanks - I know clearing a pool isn't a 1 night process, but could it be a 3 night process? Hopefully, because that's what I've got! According to the last test I am at about 7 FC, which feels right - all algae seems dead, bugs are wiped out. The water seems fairly 'clean' aside from the...

Cloudy pool, and I've committed the cardinal sin.

I went to a pool store, and then another pool store. Forgive me TFP, for I have sinned. I'm in a slight panic mode as I have a dozen kids coming over for the 4th and my recently opened pool is cloudy: http://i1072.photobucket.com/albums/w368/MoreCowbell77/poolcl.jpg I would appreciate some...

    Maybe the simplest question ever...

Thanks for the quick reply. Looking at the skimmer hole, after removing the skimmer basket, there seems to be a small swivel type cap - can I slide that over the skimmer while the valve is in the 'open' position (btw, I do have the open/close correct, right?) and then the floor drain should...

    Maybe the simplest question ever...

I am a pool newbie - we have a 18K gallon pool with one skimmer and a drain in the deep end. I've been struggling with the 6 year old SWG, but that's another post. I have two pipes coming out of the ground, combining into one and then into the pump. One of these pumps has a valve on it. Can...
