How to free up shaft on pool motor

Just an update. I had my dad come over and check the impeller from the basket first again — he couldn’t get it to move either even with a screwdriver. So we took the back cover off and tried to get the shaft to move with a 7/16” wrench. It wouldn’t budge. I’m not sure what to do at this point...

How to free up shaft on pool motor

I see from the video where to take off to access the capacitor and shaft. I’m going to try to unstick the shaft first since that is what was wrong last time.

How to free up shaft on pool motor

Are you talking about the four bolts on the back of it, behind the basket? I’m trying to figure out what cover / where I need to take off. There is a cover over the metal part at the end (cylinder looking) and then the part that it attaches to where the basket is

How to free up shaft on pool motor

Well, I guess it is stuck (nothing was moving), but I couldn’t get it unstuck with my hands or a screwdriver. I also couldn’t get a capacitor today (Sunday)— everything is closed. So I put 7 blankets (4 are moving blankets) over the pump / motor and I’m going to pray the p Basically we ran it...

How to free up shaft on pool motor

It’s a Hayward century. Last time the guy said the shaft was just stuck, so I’d like to try just to unstick it if possible. Not sure how to replace a capacitor.

How to free up shaft on pool motor

Hi all! It’s going to get down to 22 degrees tonight (and will be that low for the next 3 days), and my pool is not able to winterized. We usually just run the pump if it gets below freezing. However in November we went to turn on the pump and the motor just hummed and would not kick on. I...

Pool leak help / advice (only leaks when cold / pump not running)

This is what I'm worried about. It's lost so much water already. I just don't see how it can be leaking ONLY in the winter and ONLY when the pump isn't on. It continued to leak after the holes were initially patched, which makes me think it's not a tear in the liner. But what else could it be? I...

Pool leak help / advice (only leaks when cold / pump not running)

Thanks, I will ask them. So do you think wait until spring or have them come out soon?

Pool leak help / advice (only leaks when cold / pump not running)

Hi all I posted this same issue last year. Long story short our pool leaks, but only in the winter time when we aren't running the pump. IT leaked like this last winter, but once we started it up for the spring / summer, we had absolutely no issues with leaking or water level. We closed the pool...

Pool leaking only when cold & pump is off

I will definitely ask the pool service company if I can find someone good

Pool leaking only when cold & pump is off

I will check into it! Not sure what that means but I’ll do some googling.

Pool leaking only when cold & pump is off

Vinyl liner. They patched it last December. It was two small holes. The lowest we let it get was about 3.5 ft below normal. That’s when they did the leak detections. Should we pay for someone else to do ANOTHER leak detection? The same problem the next year makes me think it’s not the liner..

Pool leaking only when cold & pump is off

Title pretty much says it. We had the same problem last winter around December & paid to have sonar leak detection. They patched the holes in late December. By February, it had leaked again. I’m talking 8-12 inches a month kind of leak. The pool guys said basically they had no clue— the patches...

closing pool with pump/filter below the water table

Hi all! After a disastrous off-season with a pool company last year, we have decided to close the pool ourselves (2nd year owning the home / pool). I feel comfortable after doing some research and watching videos. HOWEVER, the pool company last year said they could not winterize our pump /...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

You are 1000% correct. I just hate that I paid $2500 for someone to install a safety cover and close the pool, only to be left with a leak / liner tear and us having to open/ reclose the pool ourselves anyways. I'm sick over it. Also it's been raining here so not cooperative weather! I've got...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

You are absolutely correct. They also couldn't get the diving board off to install the safety cover, so they just cut the bolts without even calling or asking us. Then told us we would have to buy a new bolt set from them. I am just so frustrated at this point. I'm hoping I can find the leak myself.

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

Thanks, guys. My husband is livid and is adamant that it's the pool people's fault because we didn't have a leak before they came and vacuumed / closed it. I don't think there is anyway to prove how the leak got there, though, even though we know it had to be sometime after the pool was closed...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

Alright, so the main pool guy just called me back finally. According to him, there is a leak somewhere in the liner. I asked why we had been running the pool since January 2017 with no problems of leaks or losing water, even when the pump was broken for almost 2 weeks. He didn't have any idea...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

that's what I'm currently trying to figure out! I got a hose then realized to check the levels for a leak, I'm going to have to take the cover off somehow, at least a part of it. I've never had a safety cover (we used old school tarp and water bags growing up) so I'm going to have to read up on...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

Thanks so much! The pool is vinyl. I'll update my signature with that, too. When we bought the house, the pool didn't have a cover. We bought the safety cover and the company said they would install and close the pool for us, so we said awesome. I'm hoping to get to the bottom of this soon and...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

Thanks so much for your reply! I have updated my signature :) Yes, with regards to#3, when I looked in the pump basket, there was a little water in the basket just not enough for it to prime. I started thinking maybe they had drained the pool below the skimmer level so they could winterize it...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

Also, when the pump broke over the summer and couldn't be fixed for over a week, we had no leakage / water loss. I'm just not sure if it is an actual leak or if what the technician did trying to drain the water out of the above ground pipes actually drained the pool until it's this low. I'm...

Leak after pool is closed for the winter

Hi all! I have a large oval inground pool. This was our first year as pool owners, but I grew up with a pool so I thought I knew enough. I did not. This pool has had some issues. The biggest issue now is this leak. We paid for a company to come out and install a safety cover, plus close and...
