Need help getting started - Where to go from here

I added enough cya to get me to around 50ppm, have been swimming and maintaining FC level while I wait for cya test chemicals to arrive since I just ran out. Water is beautiful, clear. I've been running SWG almost 24 hours a day. Tonight I tested and found FC is 2.0, CC is also 2.0. I added...

I'm thinking I need to add 168 oz CYA to bring the level up to 70. But using the pool math calculator it looks like this will also lower my PH to 6.75. What's next? Very excited to be so close. Very lucky to have found this forum!

Solved te pump issue. It turns out the skimmer socks were the problem. Too much junk clogging in the socks. Pulled them out until I'm done slamming and the pump is working great with no air in the basket. - - - Updated - - - I think I'm nearing the end of the SLAM! Water is crystal...

Couple of issues, one major: 1. Chlorine level has stayed high for several hours now (16-17) without adding chlorine. CC is around 0.5. Checked CYA just in case, but it's still around 35. Pool is still very green. I brushed the whole pool, still no change in FC. 2. I think I have a leak in...

Thanks! I have small potential issue with cya level. I added enough to bring it up to 23ppm. The next day I went to test it to see if I successfully raise the level, and realized the Taylor kit doesn't have readings for below 30ppm. Did some reading and found out the cya test is + or - 15...

So there's no shock FC number for a SWG pool at cya 30ppm on the cya/chlorine chart. What do I do once my cya level is at 30?

Hello! Thanks for that, signature corrected. Sheesh if I can't get that right what hope is there! Didn't realize you all put in an actual sock, I dumped it in the 2 skimmer socks, and it's just about all gone.

Thanks I should have read the details more closely. Just put 13.75 cups of cya in the strainers to get to 20 and then will put some more in after testing to get to 30. How long should I expect to wait for it to disolve?

For salt water, shouldn't I be trying to get CYA to 70-80ppm? Do I have to worry about PH or TA changing and should I have chemicals on hand to adjust while I add the conditioner? Thanks again

Which oz value do you use from the pool math calculator? To raise to 20 ppm for a 35900 gallon pool I get Add 105 oz by weight or 110 oz by volume of stabilizer or add 273 oz of liquid stabilizer.

Thanks! I just updated my pool volume after measuring the depth and realizing it's not quite as deep. I'll take a shot at calculating the condituoner to add.

Hi everyone- just getting my feet wet here and want to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. This is my first pool and I've been reading a ton on this site in the forums and pool school. Where I am now/What I've done: I bought a test kit (Leslie's similar to the K-2005 kit) but am...

Brand new guy here! Need a shopping list - Pool Pic included

Hi all! Great forum! I just had the pool company open my 40' x 20' inground SWG vinyl lined pool last weekend. The winter cover was full of about a foot of water and leaves that they dumped in the pool when they opened it. They shocked (SLAM'd?) the pool and now the water is cloudy...
