    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Thanks, yeah both with and without SWG I get bubbles. Upstream from my pump is a Tee with valve to each branch. When I close one of the valves, the bubbles get worse in the pump basket, so I think my leak is on the other branch. I tried flooding the joints with a hose to see if the bubbles go...

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

I tested this morning and PH dropped way down, to 7.2 or possibly below. I added cya yesterday, some bleach to bring FC up to 5 and today added baking soda.

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Still trying to understand my PH and TA levels. I've noticed air bubbles in some of the return jets and am going to look for a suction side leak this morning. Could this be whats putting my PH level out of whack?

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

I just added cya. Can I start adjusting TA or should I wait for cya to dissolve?

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Similar to my test yresults in the post above. They measured PH=7.8 and TA=36

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

I get some free chemicals for initial balancing so the pool company tested a water sample for me. Very similar results for PH and TA. What gives?

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

You're right it's a Taylor kit. I think a K-2006? Hard to tell for sure because there's a Leslie's Pool sticker on the front of the box. Anyway, I tested PH and again got dark red, in the 8.0 range. Just checked the R-0004 label and its a year past expiration...

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Thanks! I definitely have the acid demand test chemical. I'll retest and also try to get some CYA and chlorine in today.

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

They had the parts on hand to replace the motor, gaskets etc, so I went with that option for now. They only charged me for parts. 4 truckloads of water and several hours of hose filling and the system is up and running! I added salt right off the bat and then tested. Here are my numbers...

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Done (TF100). So it appears my pump has seized... any recommendations on a new pump? I'd like to go with a variable speed.

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Thanks guys. I do have a proper test kit and yes I'm concerned about what the pool company will give me. Sounds like I should be ok otherwise.

    40K gallons coming tomorrow

Finally getting a new liner tomorrow, can't wait! It's been a long first half of the summer without our pool. I'm getting enough salt (1000 lb) to bring the level up to 3000, and the pool company is on the hook to provide the rest of the chemicals. I'm supposed to bring a sample in for them...

New Season, which chemicals to replace?

Well, I stored them out in my garage all winter  So not in the heat, but certainly got below freezing. What do you think?

New Season, which chemicals to replace?

I use the TFT-100. Besides refills for chemicals that are running low, any recommendations for what nshould be replaced due to age if bought last year? Should I just plan on buying a complete set every year?

Return Jet Fountains vs PH and TA

We just bought and installed PVC fountains on 2 of the 4 return jets. My PH (7.4) and TA (60) are good right now, they are just for aesthetics. Do I need to be concerned with how these aerate and possibly affect balance?

    CYA Testing

Thanks for the reminders, multiple tests is good idea I'll start doing that.

    CYA Testing

I'm no expert, but I get similar results when increasing the CYA. Try to be cautious about not going over, but then it doesn't go up as fast as predicted by Poolmath. And reading the test results is really hard. Is that a reflection or a dot? I think you're doing it right, going slowly and...

    Need help reading PH level

Using pool math, the muriatic acid will also lower my TA from 60 to 50.5. To get it back up I need to add baking soda which also raises PH slightly. Should I adjust the amount of acid to acount for the rise in PH when I add baking soda?

    Need help reading PH level

Yeah I use pool math all the time, just never had to adjust PH. Thanks for the advice!

    Need help reading PH level

I know my PH is high, but how do I figure out how high it is? Here are my numbers: CYA 45 FC 0 PH - see below TA 60 PH is high, so I think I need to take care of this before slamming, right? I've never needed to adjust the PH so advice would be helpful. The test result was very red, off the...
