I have persistently high TA readings, 300 to 400. Ph is stable, 7.3 to 7.7 as are FC (3-6) CH 130 and CYA at 40. Water is crystal clear and tastes and smells fine. My testing may be at fault, I use a Color Q 7 tablet version (I know, I know, but I can't get Taylor here in Italy and no one will...

    SWG Experiences and Recommendations?

I am just about to go the SWCG route here in Italy and would very much like to hear more 'real life' experiences of using the various brands. Hayward and Pentair are available at high prices, Zodiac is more commonly available. Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers Zed

specifying (sizing) an SWG for a big pool

Hi Everybody, Just opened my pool here in central Italy, all good so far but I'm seriously thinking of going over to the 'salty side', not just because of the huge pile of empty bleach jugs but because the pool is at our holiday home and I'm not there the whole time. Our neighbour and local...

new(ish) sand filter returning fine debris to pool

Not sure if this is a pure filter issue or treating/balancing water, or both, but here goes; I have the usual 'greyish/milky water after shocking' issue. I know it can take time to clear but I've been at it for 12 days. I can see the bottom (8feet) just, but every morning there is a lot of fine...

It's closing time and I'd like to spend the big money and fit a loop-loc ultra, only available here in Italy (AFAIK) from an Internet supply house, so I have to measure up and install myself. The pool has no straight edges and is not symmetrical about either horizontal axis, it's 53 x 23 feet so...

    diluting samples during testing

Good Morning, I use a LaMotte color Q, tablet version photometer testing kit here in Italy. I can't get a Taylor kit for love nor money without importing it personally and commiting myself to hanging around Italian customs sheds for weeks. Generally I am quite happy with the Color Q but one of...

tiles on glass-fibre, anybody have experience?

My pool is, I believe, called "hybrid' construction. The walls are large vertical glass fibre panels with a plastered concrete floor. There is stone coping and a stone deck. I'm thinking about a major re-furb and wondered if installing a few rows of ceramic tiles from the coping to below the...

she's curvy, sparkling , beautiful and in Italy

That's just my pool... Two years ago I was a complete newbie ,first time pool owner, staring at the scary 'green swamp' that was a part of our newly acquired holiday home in Italy. I was calm about the house, the roof leaked, the air con and heating didn't work, the plumbing looked as if The...
