Shaft still leaks after rebuild Dyna Glas pump

No offense taken. I definitely have the right parts and they are installed in the correct orientation. What I did not do is wipe down the surfaces of the seals. I will try again with another new shaft seal along with RTV between the seal and seal plate. Thank you

    Hayward Tiger Shark or S200?

I ended up taking my hayward sharkvac Xl (or something similar to that name) back after two weeks and they gave me full credit and I bought a Dolphin S300 instead. The S300 is significantly better.

S300 not working after a month?

I bought an S300 last summer to replace an 10 year old aquabot. For my first Aquabot replacement I tried to be economical and went with a Hayward sharkvac XL. It wasn't so good and I took it back spending a ~$200 more for the S300 and couldn't be happier. The S300 is superior in every way to...

Shaft still leaks after rebuild Dyna Glas pump

No ideas on this one anyone? Do you think it would be worth taking it apart again and putting some RTV in the seal plate before I insert the shaft seal?

Shaft still leaks after rebuild Dyna Glas pump

I've replaced the shaft seal assembly numerous times, replaced O rings, even replaced the impeller. Yesterday along with a new shaft seal I even installed a new "rear seal plate" and no matter what I do I can't get the shaft leak to stop completely. It's better but still dripping. I don't...

Need help with apparent shaft seal leak

Wow I have EXACTLY the same problem that I'm currently struggling with just like tgibson11. Except my pump is a Sta-Rite Dyna-Glas with a 2 speed motor that I put on 4 years ago. I opened this season to a leaking shaft seal. A little surprising since I replaced it 4 year ago when I installed...

I need help with StaRite MaxETherm heater.

From your description it's time to replace keypad. I had the same problem. I just bought one through Amazon.com for $58. Pentair 42002-0029Z Switch Membrane. I'm going to install it today.

New pump or just replace motor?

Karamabiker, I wanted to thank you so much for recommendation on the 2Green motor for my pump. I didn't know about these motors and therefore if it hadn't been for you I likely would have gone a less optimal route. Anyway, I installed the 1HP 2Green motor this morning and I am very pleased...

The vitamin C trick is genius! The black stains are completely gone where I put the uncoated tablets. Thank you so much!!!

Rust stains on built in fiberglass steps of IG pool

Butterfly, Thanks--- I'll get some vitamin C and give it a try and report back. I'll also work on boosting the CH based on what you said about fiberglass. Are there less expensive alternatives to boosting CH or is the pool store the only place to get the stuff? Thanks

Bump-- Any takers on root cause of my issue and possible solutions?

Rust stains on built in fiberglass steps of IG pool

Butterfly, The pool is an 18k gal vinyl. Water supply is a good clean muni water supply. I live in the water rich finger lakes/great lakes region. I'm fairly militant about keeping my chems in check. Although occasionally I might forget and let the CL go to 0. FC = Typ maintained at 3-5ppm...

Rust stains on built in fiberglass steps of IG pool

I will try the vitamin C tablets, but the pictures look nothing like the stains I have. Here's a picture

Rust stains on built in fiberglass steps of IG pool

I have an 8 year old IG pool with built in fiberglass steps. I've noticed that over the last couple years that round black stains about the size of a dime or a bit smaller, are starting to appear on the steps around the edges where the steps meet the vertical wall of the fiberglass steps. I...

New pump or just replace motor?

@karmabiker, Thanks to your help I ended up going with a 2Green 1HP two speed motor. I had never heard of this motor before until you suggested it. After doing some research it seemed to be exactly what I needed and wanted. I decided to go with your suggestion and stay with the 1HP so I...

New pump or just replace motor?

Thanks karmabiker. I'll give them a call this week.

New pump or just replace motor?

Thanks again. I don't need the pressure for vac since I have a robot that runs independent of the pump. I actually like the idea of lower flow rate because I struggle with occasional cloudy water even though I'm very good about keep chems in the zone, so perhaps slowing the water down through...

New pump or just replace motor?

Thanks for this helpful info. I do not have any water features or spa and I have a robotic vacuum that does not rely on pool suction. So do you think the 3/4 HP is a good way to go rather than 1 HP that I have now given the specs I provided? And I'm guessing you suggest dual speed mostly for...

New pump or just replace motor?

Hi, I'm in need of assistance in selecting a new pump or motor to replace my current because the motor has a noisy bearing. I have a 20K gal IG Pool with; - 300 LB Starite Sand Filter - 1HP Motor (says Dyna Glas on the side) - 1.5" lines, filter is just barely above pool level, so essentially...
