What thing is this? I was under the impression that the V green was pretty much a stand alone motor.

I'll see if I can get to it. It's kind of buried behind a wall of garage stuff. I'm pretty savvy with residential electricity... used to build houses for a living. It's definitely a big bar breaker occupying 2 positions in the box. I just hate to state it to be 240 until I both verify that it...

I appreciate the response. I was mainly looking for options on motors and keeping the superpump head. It's in great shape and all plumbed. I'll certainly be doing some investigating into what I have for voltage. It's a weird wiring setup. Looks like a 240 breaker. The wiring is baby blue and...

Hey folks! My 30k gallon inground is currently running a Superpump 120v 1hp. It's eating about $100 a month during pool season. I'd like to switch this to a VS motor but I'm struggling to find one that isn't 240v. Now, I'm not 100% positive but I might have 240v going to the pump pad... the...

A little mustard with my hot dog

Ugh. So besides dumping my pool so full of crud that it took me an hour to scoop it out, I also went 10 full hours without filtration. I also saw more algae than I had seen before I started the slam. 8 gallons of bleach down, and at this pace I will clearly need at least that much more to keep...

A little mustard with my hot dog

1600 test FC 10.5 Adding 94 oz to correct. Big rain coming tonight. I fear this will upset my apple cart. Any tips? Maybe Jack up my FC to compensate for the fact that I might not be able to test and I'm certainly going have water added, regardless of my preference?

A little mustard with my hot dog

1000 test FC 11.5 ADDED 31 oz to correct Water looks good, swept up some algae. Much less than previous so I think we're still progressing.

0600 test FC 10.5 CC 1 Adding 94 oz to correct. Day 4, here I come. Tropical storm should be hitting us tonight. Lots of wind and an inch of rain. Hopefully it doesn't screw me up to bad.

A little mustard with my hot dog

1600 test FC 9.5 Adding 156 oz for correction. Clarity is good. Not as good as it this morning. I see a little spot of algae. Just one pesky spot. Stubborn stuff!

A little mustard with my hot dog

1400 test FC 12 Nothing added. Water slightly more turbid than this morning. It's quite breezy and receiving plenty of samaras from an enormous ash tree stationed up wind. The wind is pushing them away from the skimmer and a quick netting session was in order. Still some signs of algae. It's...

A little mustard with my hot dog

Noted regarding crystal clear. I mean it as a reference to the water itself as in, no detectable turbidity. As for sun... your saying it has to be before sunrise/after sunset and not before the sun reaches the pool, correct? My pool only really sees the sun from about 0900 until roughly 1800...

A little mustard with my hot dog

A little late on my morning test... 0900 FC 9.5 Added 156 oz for correction. Looks like day 3 is in order. Water is crystal clear. Some small patches of algae in the usual spots. Less than previous Work day so not sure if I can get it brushed down before 1600. Question. How much time...

A little mustard with my hot dog

1830 test FC 11.5 31 oz to correct. The water's a cool deep aqua color. No algae noted. Ended up brushing at around 1700 and no noticable turbidity. Fingers crossed.

1630 test at 1615 due to showers FC 12 nothing added Hoping to give it a brushing at 1830. I'd love to see no algae and good parameters in the morning. We'll see.

A little mustard with my hot dog

Ah. Cool. Seemed like the thing to do while I was at it. I really appreciate everyone's help. I like the TFP theory. I'm kind of all about not using unnecessary chemicals in general. No reason to treat my pool any differently.

1400 test... late. At 1430 FC 12 CC 0.5 water looks good. Some signs of algae.

A little mustard with my hot dog

1200 test FC 9.5 CC 0 156 oz to correct Pool looks pretty good. No visible algae. Minimal turbidity. Filter was reading 18 psi, up from 11. This was a dramatic change over last reading this AM of 11. Backwashed for 3 minutes, rinsed, and pressure now 11 again. Previously, clean pressure was 10.

1000 test FC 12.5 CC 0 Nothing added. No full sun yet. I expect to see that move by noon as the sun gets to it.

A little mustard with my hot dog

Just finished. Vac and brush. I believe progress is the word. Even after vac and brush, overall subjective turbidity is markedly decreased over yesterday. I wouldn't call it crystal clear yet, but I think the undiscriminating eye might think so.

A little mustard with my hot dog

0800 test FC 9.5, CC 0 Adding 156 oz to compensate There's the devil right there! 2.5 ppm loss overnight. A few areas of algae, primarily on what is the shady side of the pool. Time for a morning vac and brush session.

1830 test FC 11 CC O Adding 62 oz for correction. Next test in the AM. Pool is pretty darn clear, but we'll see what morning brings.

A little mustard with my hot dog

1430 test FC 9, CC 0 Adding 187oz to correct FC. Minimal debris on the floor. I'll probably opt to brush and vacuum at 1630. Or rather vaccum then brush as mariane has suggested.

Is it weird to go through a SLAM and not see any CC? I know it's early yet, but I figured I'd see an increase as the algae died.

A little mustard with my hot dog

1230 test. FC 11 CC 0 Adding 121 oz to correct for FC loss Water remains pretty clear as to say that sitting on the deck by the shallow end I can see the main drain in the deep end pretty clearly. Slight haze in the water. Some signs of... whatever it is settled on the bottom. Time to brush again.

A little mustard with my hot dog

1030 update: FC12, CC0. Water is no longer clear after the 0830 brushing and chlorine additions... very mildly milky. I took a pic of what I'm seeing. I can see " reforming " patches, but, it's weird. It's only showing on seams and wrinkles right now. When I brushed this morning I certainly...
