Old metal coping questions: where can I get the joint covers, and can I paint the coping?

I was able to piece together one of the joint covers. I haven't been able to find one like it on the internet. Doesn't help I have no idea what kind of pool I have! I saw post on here Restored Buster Crabbe, aluminum coping, coping clips, etc..... where he was able to create his own from...

Old metal coping questions: where can I get the joint covers, and can I paint the coping?

I have some metal coping around my pool, and the joint covers are all old and broken or gone. Where can I get new ones? Also, can someone tell me about making it look better? What are my options without removing it?

    2018 Bleach Prices

It looks like other folks are noticing a change from the 8.25 to 6% in some bleaches also. I went to my local Kroger (West Virginia) to get some and was surprised to see the fancy new Kroger label was changed, a long with the percent! Also at $2.59

First timer clearing out the lines with a single skimmer, no deep end - questions!

Hi everyone! This is my first time back since you all helped me get my swamp to a beautiful oasis! First of all I have read this guide: Pool School - Closing an In Ground Pool but I have read conflicting information on the forum and elsewhere so I wanted some personalized advice. So far this...

How does rain affect a pool

Hi Tamitha, I just wanted to say hi to a fellow West Virginian! I'm from Wheeling - and we've certainly been getting lots of rain! I bought the test kit they suggested and it helps so much with getting the chemistry right in your pool.

My mystery pool from green to clear

Hi all, I wanted to share my success with the TFP SLAM method so far! My husband and I purchased our first home in May and it was a foreclosure with many problems, especially with the plumbing. The house wasn't winterized until March (so useful!) and we had a lot to do inside before we could...

New pool owner of a house that was foreclosed - figuring out the puzzle :)

Thank you! I wouldn't have been able to do it without this forum. :) So I think I may be able to do the OCLT tonight? Is it clear enough? And once that happens and I pass, I found this schedule on pool school... Daily Look at the water, notice the clarity and color. Test the chlorine...

    Budget Pool House inspiration

When we bought our house, we were surprised to find a makeshift garage-turned-pool house. The other side is screened in. There is an old garage door to the alley but it is so rusted it won't open. It had some green astro turf and dark wood paneling. I didn't get before pictures of the inside...

    In-ground pool steps/ladder suggestions?

Is there a reason we would not be able to use these for our inground pool? https://www.amazon.com/Confer-Above-Ground-Swimming-Curve/dp/B00BOUJ69G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1529432320&sr=8-1&keywords=confer+ccx-ag

New pool owner of a house that was foreclosed - figuring out the puzzle :)

Well as an update for you all... After I got my ph and TA up I went ahead and started the SLAM process Sunday afternoon. Here are pictures from Monday and Tuesday (this morning) I didn't run the it on filter but put it on recirculate while at work, but decided to do have it on filter today...

OK I have a pretty simple question. When scooping gunk out of the pool, where do you all put it??? In a pile someplace in the yard, the garbage? Where?

    In-ground pool steps/ladder suggestions?

I am working on getting my pool cleaned up. In the meantime, I need to order a ladder or stairs for my in-ground pool. The pool is 4ft deep all around without built in stairs or anything. They threw out the ladder when they cleaned out the house before we moved in :pth: I like the idea of...

New pool owner of a house that was foreclosed - figuring out the puzzle :)

I will probably not drain my pool this summer, if that is possible. Our water is pretty hard - our faucets tend to show that. I can test our tap water today.

New pool owner of a house that was foreclosed - figuring out the puzzle :)

I read that calcium hardness didn't matter so much. Our water does have calcium in it. I actually already put the baking soda in and the TA is now up to 70. My next question is how to get the ph up. It's light yellow on the test. Should I use Borax or washing soda? Is the cya level too...

Pool math says to put 20 lb of baking soda to get the TA up to 70, is that right?

Hi everybody! I got my new Hayward filter installed. We are ready to get this swamp cleaned up! Cya 60 Doesn't appear to be any chlorine Ta didn't turn green with the r008, it just turned red I checked the calcium and it seemed high at 800 PPM PH seemed like it wasn't even 6.8 because it...

I reused the sand from my old sand filter, but now I'm not sure if I have enough sand

Can someone give me a visual approximation on how much sand should be in my Hayward s244t sand filter? I'm not sure how much sand was in the old filter. Enough to almost fill a 50 gallon garbage can . The sand goes within 12 in of the opening. I did fill it with some water when I was filling the...

Maybe the picture is misleading - it really seems a little more green than it is in real life! Lol We have a test kit but my husband was the one to do it, here is what he had as results: CL < 5 (water was basically clear) PH < 6.8 (water turned yellow) TA = 0 (Added two drops R-0007 in a...

New pool owner of a house that was foreclosed - figuring out the puzzle :)

Hi from West Virginia! My husband (user Crepes) and I recently bought & moved into a home that was a foreclosure. That mean no disclosure about the pool! So far we learned that the old sand filter was busted, so I am currently installing a new Hayward sand filter. Pump is pretty new and good...

Should I reuse the sand from our old sand filter?

Seems like most people say that sand doesn't really go bad, so I am going to use your advice and reuse it. :) Also the fact that I don't know what to do with 300lbs of old sand and my laziness to get new sand might have played a part XD

Question about plumbing to my new filter

Here is a picture of my new filter in position and almost ready to be plumbed. I have never worked with PVC plumbing (or any kind for that matter) and need some help figuring this out. The pipes don't match the old filter. Is there an extender piece that I can use to make the pipe taller? See...

Should I reuse the sand from our old sand filter?

I recently bought a house that has a pool and the filter was broken so we bought a new one. I don't know how long the sand has been in the old filter but it looks good I think? Here is a picture for reference. Sand - Album on Imgur I already took it out of the old filter.
