    Buried Pool renovation

I built my entire pool myself except for the excavation and the pool krete base, I did a vinyl liner kit. I would have done the excavation but I calculated that with how long it would would take me to do it the rental of the machine would not have been far off of what I paid. So I say good for...

    Buried Pool renovation

Agreed an experienced operator can be like watching a work of art, but this level of skill is not needed for this project. Everything I read said I would never be able to use all of the dirt that came out of the hole so I had a load hauled off. I then paid to have 3 loads brought back in...

    Buried Pool renovation

Not sure of the cost in their area, the excavation for my pool was $1500 but my pool is an order of magnitude smaller than this thing, but 10x as much. Jeeze, I would have rented an excavator too.

    Buried Pool renovation

I see it as a subtle difference, bottom has already been defined at one point, you just run the machine a bit slower so you do not punch through anything.

    Buried Pool renovation

So the pool company quoted you 15k to excavate the hole? :poop: At that rate it would cost about a million dollars for them to actually build a pool. Keep digging, somehow I doubt this pool was filled in "correctly".

    DIY inground pool kit

Bonding wire going in this weekend now that the backfill and some paver base is down. Step will be connected at 2 points per my conversation with the electrical inspector.

Yep...a new guy, probably not new problems

Since it is a rental property you are probably go to be stuck with another layer of epoxy as your fix. I would probably feather it out much wider than that initial patch

    New saltwater pool

FC 9. I think I got the system working. Just shut the pump down for the first time since I started it initially. Will see what it is in the morning.

    New saltwater pool

Thanks, I did not connect the pump to the automation yet, I just wanted to get the pump running since the water was sitting several days as I worked out liner position issues on the steps. Manually pressing the filter button worked. After the excavation guy does the backfill, grading and paver...

    New saltwater pool

Ok got the SWG figured out, i hit the filter button manually and the swg switched on. So now it is actually running as opposed to what I thought was running. This should stop the losing battle with my FC now.

    New saltwater pool

So I deftam not using my system correctly. FC was 0.5 this morning. I added bleach and went to the aqua rite system. Salt cell is turned on in config and set to 80% in settings. Diagnostics shows it as off and filter off. Flow switch shows flow. I set it to super chlorinate and I heard it...

Initial stages of planning, to see if a pool is the right way to go

Personally I would go with the thicker liner.

3-way valve handle broken - glued plumbing? Don't know what to do!!!

The fitting in the first photo that you have the red box around appears to be glued that is not coming apart.

What I Saw at Home Depot Yesterday...

Now I am not an engineer... but I think the wings on that plane need to be longer I’d they expect to get off the ground.

    New saltwater pool

I turned it up to 80. Pool math says it should have me good in 7.45 hours. If it is not in range in the morning I will go pick up some bleach.

    New saltwater pool

Will do. Gonna play the waiting game. Will give it a couple of days before checking cya again. Gonna keep on top of FC as I lost some ground since yesterday, 1.5 tonight. I turned up the % on the swg since I do not have any bleach on hand and am leaving the system running overnight.

    New saltwater pool

I took the size off of the manufacture’s plans. I guess it’s possible that they did not put a lot of effort into the calculations.

Thanks. Just a. Little impatient I guess at the end of this diy project to get it all balanced out.

Ok so I will leave it as is for now and continue to target FC for the assumed CYA

    New saltwater pool

Ok so I am a little confused here. I added 7 lbs of stabilizer on Friday which should have brought me to a CYA of about 65 - 70. I just tested if and I am only reading 30.

    DIY inground pool kit

Ignore the leaves. The neighbors trees are dumping leaves in it at an alarming rate. One of the reasons it is getting screened in.

    DIY inground pool kit

So I plugged both skimmers and cut the line at the tee fitting and ran the second skimmer up to the pad. I cut out the 3 way valve and put in 3 2 way valves so each line could be controlled independently. This made an exponential difference in how the skimmers operate. I am now very happy with...

I would be inclined to put some kind of retaining wall ish type thing on the low end to help prevent washout.

New pool is full and pump pieces missing

Ok that is what I call the pump filter basket. I though that is what you were talking about. So this was recommended to me by @jimmythegreek. Get a submersible sump pump and toss it in without the discharge hose to circulate the water. It should keep things nice and clear for you. Call the...

Initial stages of planning, to see if a pool is the right way to go

Equipotential bonding is required for safety no mater where the pool is located. NEC 680.26. Essentially for an above ground pool you need a bare solid 8ga wire connected to 4 points equally spaced round the pool that also connects to your pumps bonding lug. I am not sure if an above ground...
