Should your pool turn green with every rain?

They are likely always on the verge of an outbreak and the pH shift is just enough to cause it.

Should your pool turn green with every rain?

Sounds like you need to teach your family some basic pool maintenance.

    Do Waterbugs Always Mean Algae?

I see 1 or 2 every year, but it's a problem when you see a whole cluster of them.

    Black stuff on skimmer

Maybe the bunny pooped in the pool. Twice, my kids have pooped in the pool and both times I scooped it out right away and shocked, and both times I ended up with a black greasy line in my skimmer. I assumed it was just oils and grime from sunblock until it happened the second time.

    Algae, bleach, SLAM & equipment

Is there an actual problem with having too much chlorine? I just let my SWG run all the time the pump runs and my chlorine is always higher than needed but I figure with kids always in the pool, I should keep it high anyways.

    How much SKILL-IT to use?

Wow thanks for correcting my math. I'm usually really good at math, but they recently legalized recreational pot here so sometimes I need extra help ;) I was using 10% instead of 20% since I was thinking 10k gallons. That's why it's good to double check.

    How much SKILL-IT to use?

I normally would feel the same way, but I can't enjoy my pool when it's filled with these insects, some of which can get very aggressive.

    How much SKILL-IT to use?

I have sensitive skin so I added borates to my last pool and it really messed up my skin for some reason. I had the same issue when I was making my own laundry detergent with borax previously. So now I won't add borates to my new pool and my skin has been amazing.

    How much SKILL-IT to use?

This isn't algae related, but it is algaecide related so I figured it's probably the best place to post the question. We live on the edge of the desert and have a nasty stinging insect problem. Lots of wasps and bees, but we also have tarantula hawks that like to stop by for a drink. I did some...

    Gritty plaster

Sorry, the only thing I tested since we have been back was the chlorine and pH. The plaster was smooth just before the vacation. If you look close you can see the particles of sand actually stuck to the plaster. Certainly it could be scaling with sand stuck to it, but I wouldn't think scale...

    Gritty plaster

We went on vacation a few weeks ago and there was a dust storm while we were gone. I adjusted the chemicals as the pH had gone up to 8.2 and the chlorine was almost undetectable. The infloor cleaning system seemed to have cleaned the pool pretty well for the most part except for the few normal...

Can I use a stainless steel brush?

I poured some powdered shock into the deep end right over the stains and much if it landed and sat right on the stains until it dissolved. That removed most of the stain. I guess I will just do that a few more times.

Can I use a stainless steel brush?

We finished our pool in the beginning of October last year(2011) so it has been up and running for about 9 months now. We recently had a little trouble with some algae. It was either black or a dark green sand it seem to be under control now. The guy at the pool store said I should buy a...
