    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

With the CYA, I think I must have had a 'mature' moment and put in 2000g instead of 200g. The water had been tested by the pool store but I put the readings into PoolMath. My replacement reagents have arrived and those last readings were made using my own test kit.

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Since my iPad died I haven't been able to supply any photos unfortunately. However, the pool is sparkling now thanks to your help. I tested this afternoon (the first chance I have had as I have been really busy the last two weeks) and the readings are all rather high. FC 17.5 Ph 7.8 CYA 100...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Things fell in a bit of a heap over the last week or so in terms of my pool management. I got really busy at work so I couldn't spend as much time monitoring progress; I ran out of some of the reagents in my testing kit and because I'm in Australia it's going to take a week or so to get...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Yes, I can see light at the end of the tunnel. We have some pretty hot weather predicted to be on the way so it would be nice to be in there soon. FC is consistently around 10 now. A couple of particularly hot and sunny days saw it drop to 9 but I topped up the chlorine and lifted it back up.

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Here is a progress shot. We had a lot of rain over the last few days so there's an extra inch or two BUT you can just make out the top step on the far side. Just as well as we are having a stinker of a summer right now and I am under a lot of pressure from the family who are complaining that...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

We had a lot of rain today but I tried to keep on top of the program the best I could. On the plus side, without the blaring sun, the FC level has remained constant all day. The photo is actually from yesterday. It looks much the same today, maybe a tad clearer, but the water level has...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Thank you for the feedback. I'm upping the CYA to 30 as the pool does get a lot of sun during the day. I'll give it some time and retest the pH in case the CYA has pushed it up any and continue with the SLAMing. Photos when I've worked out how to decrease their size. I've exceeded my allowance...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

So it's heads down, bottom up this weekend. Cloudy blue now as opposed to cloudy green. I have a couple of days off I can keep the filter running 24/7 and be able to keep an eye on it. Currently: CYA 20(?) a bit of a guess here, the tube is full and I can still just make out the dot. Ph 7.6 FC 3.5

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Unfortunately I ran out of holiday and had to go back to work so I haven't been able to keep up as I should. However, when I am at home I've been following the instructions to the letter and although I probably haven't made as much progress as I would have had I been at home, I can see a marked...

The step end. There are steps on both sides of the pool here at varying depths.

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

I'm following the instructions in the 'Turn your green swamp ...' post and I've just tested for CYA and Ph with readings of <30 and 7.3 respectively. With the CYA test, the tube I'd full and I can still make out the black dot very faintly. According to Pool Math and assuming a CYA of around 25...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Well I'm at work but I've just been advised that my testing kit has arrived. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in, probably tomorrow morning (I have a late work start).

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

I took this just now. A vast improvement from two weeks ago but there's still leaf waste on the bottom I suspect.

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

Thanks for the tips and support. I'm still waiting for my testing kit so I'm still treading water so to speak. Thanks for sharing the photos Swampwoman, the top row looks very familiar. I think mine is currently closest to the top right picture. I'll keep hauling leaf waste and post again when...

    Trying to Rescue Neglected Pool

I hope this is the right place to post this. I alluded to my problems in an introductory message but I though it would be better to start a thread here, forgive me if I'm on the wrong track. My pool has been neglected for about a year and a half. I had started throwing money at my local pool...

    Greetings from Sydney, Australia

I thought I'd do the polite thing and introduce myself before I put toward a few questions. My name is Nigel and I live in the Macarthur area of Sydney. I have a pool that has been neglected for over a year and I had just started throwing cash at my local pool store owner when I discovered this...
