    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

Yeah interesting, no back butter needed but it sure is noticeable when you are up close. Maybe I won’t be looking that hard once there is water in the pool

    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

I think the argument is if they back butter it would have thinset in the places grout would be so they wouldn’t be able to grout?

    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

Yes the backing was on the face so they press into thinset then peel it off

    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

I just asked one of the workers and he said they didn't backbutter the tile because it had a sticky backing and not mesh backing. Im guessing thats exactly why it isn't smooth as they just applied the thinset to the gunite and then stuck the tiles onto it.

    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

This tile doesn't seem to have any mesh backing, its literally individual glass tiles 1x2. it comes with a sticky backing but once installed I think you remove the backing. Its mastertile 1x2

    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

Yes they still are doing the decking and have to prepare the pool for the plaster. I know its cosmetic but when this company gave me a bid, they said they weren't the cheapest but they would do good work so I feel like since I agreed to pay a premium, the work should be perfect.

    Thinset Correct on Tile Install?

Was reviewing the work of the Tile guys and took some pictures. Are you supposed to see those lines in the thinset? Also there are areas where it looks like thinset is missing. Is this just "normal" or should I be bringing this up to the workers. They need another payment tomorrow so may hold...

    BYOP Frisco TX Build!

Gunite done. I had to leave for work, They didn't put in the umbrella sleeves in the tanning ledge. I guess not the end of the world, maybe better to just have umbrellas on the deck instead of in the pool shell.

    BYOP Frisco TX Build!

it rained yesterday. I don't think much of an impact but may rain again before we get to gunite next week (have been on the schedule for a week now). pics below. Any suggestions, how to tarp with a sump, or other ideas to try and prevent against cave-in. Does any of this require any attention...

passed the pregunite inspection but I'm waiting over a week for gunite, still waiting. it just rained today. i'm so worried, there is water pooling int he middle of the pool. I hope nothing caves in. I will feel much better when gunite is complete, they are saying next week and its supposed to...

    BYOP Frisco TX Build!

Doing BYOP. Done with excavation, rebar, plumbing. 2 Questions though. The plumber dug these trenches for the PVC but then didn't back fill it. we are planning to do pavers, who is supposed to backfill the yard to prepare it for decking? Do I do that after gunite (hopefully this weekend) and...

    Pool Build, Coping amount

Will have a rectangular pool with spa. perimeter of pool is 113 lf. I am getting quoted at 219 lf for coping including the rbb and wall caps. Can someone help me understand if the pool perimeter is 113 (spa will go into and around pool so maybe add 25 feet for perimeter for spa cap with room for...

    IFCS for heating?

Looking at best way to heat up pool efficiently when designing our pool. I plan to get a robot so don't really need IFCS for "cleaning". However, friends who have one say they like them as they help to heat up the pool more efficiently. Can anyone point me in other methods of achieving this...

Our Pool Build, Please Comment on Equipment - Frisco TX - BYOP

yeah its only going to be 3 feet of blind spot and 4 feet deep so not too concerned there but agree that 2 feet (i think its 3 feet - 1 feet of coping) is a bit tight. 3 would probably be a bit more comfortable. We already have the tanning ledge/steps on the other end, so don't really need 2...

Our Pool Build, Please Comment on Equipment - Frisco TX - BYOP

if we were going to keep steps on each side, what width of steps would you recommend, I do have some room to increase the width of the pool if we need to

Our Pool Build, Please Comment on Equipment - Frisco TX - BYOP

Agree on the robot instead of pressure cleaner. Will look at Intellicenter. I agree that the steps aren't ideal, but I want a way to easily get out of the pool on the other end. I think those steps will only be about 2 feet wide, but they would serve the purpose. We just dont have a ton of...

    Steps Depth

Agreed, didn't mean to have more than a 1 foot drop, was wondering if step "length" from back to front of the step length of 12 inches is what is typically recommended. good to know on step "height"

    Steps Depth

When you have steps coming down into the pool from the decking, is there a recommended step width/depth? I think standard is 1 foot, but wondering if 14 inch, 16, 18 inches is better or recommended. thanks

    Which Design would you recommend!

perhaps this illustrates the decking better. There actually isn't as much space on the left for party space, but there is a bit more on the right so likely would have people all around, would try to use the hot tub 18 inches off the ground to also use as some potential seating. here is an update...

    Which Design would you recommend!

Agree! I also don't like the steps into the pool from the ledge, rather would have it cut into the ledge than into the pool. Also agree, those steps on the back corner seem useless. May be better to shift the spa to the corner or off as you have it and add a little bench on the end there or...

    In Pool "Accessories"

here is the design we are getting close to finalizing, any thoughts on the steps by the tanning ledge. I dont' like steps into the pool like that as I feel like its prone to stub your toe, is it better to have the steps cut into the ledge rather than the other way around? also thoughts on the...
