    First Pool - Many Questions

Are you wiping the tip of the dropper with a damp cloth in between drops with the TA test? Static in the bottle can cause the drops to be smaller than they should be and skew the result upward. I ask because the TA seems awfully high for the pH result.

    First Pool - Many Questions

I love it. It will get me about a degree an hour in my 13,000 gallon pool. It’s way more efficient than my old Hayward heater. It was a necessity purchase 2 years ago when I was having a party Sunday and Friday I tried to turn my heater on for the first time that season and it didn’t work. Spent...

    Post salt chemicals off

Or if you’re weird like me and like to use up your reagents just so they run out evenly, you test it every time you test the pH, because hey, the comparator block is full of water and the reagent is right there in the box. 😂

What is this buildup in my cartridge filter housing?

@Richard320 these blasters might be the offending culprits?

What is this buildup in my cartridge filter housing?

I didn’t know that, I just bought what the pool store sold me as being safe for the o-rings. I should have known. 🤦🏻‍♂️ It’s about empty. I’ll find the lube that’s recommended. No, they were their usual color. This is the first time this season I’ve cleaned the filter though, that’s why I...

What is this buildup in my cartridge filter housing?

@JamesW i agree that it’s lube, but I guess my question is, what’s making it turn yellow?

What is this buildup in my cartridge filter housing?

Without going home and looking at it I believe it’s Teflon. The brand name is “lube tube”

What is this buildup in my cartridge filter housing?

This yellow ring around the inside? Any clues as to what it may be? O-ring lube that has pollen or some other funk in it?

    Chlorine usage high. Again

Just for S&G I went in and changed my sanitizer source to a SWG. It still tells me I need 2 quarts, 3oz to add 4 ppm to my 13000 gallon pool.

    Green pool!!!!!

I ask because 20 lbs of dichlor will add 60 ppm CYA to that pool. Add in continued tablet use and I find 40 PPM CYA to not be a believable number. If you’re keeping the pool at shock level per the cya, the algae will die. Period. Something isn’t adding up here, and in my opinion it’s the testing...

    Chlorine usage high. Again

You’ll need the same number of ounces to add 4ppm whether the CYA is 10 or 100. I think what you’re trying to say is that the target number is lower so you won’t have to add as much to get to the target..... but that won’t help the chlorine need at all if his pool still needs 4.1 PPM per day

Hey I recognize you! Lol additional questions, how long has it been since you passed your OCLT? And did you pass with flying colors or just barely pass? Have you checked all the places organics could be hiding? Drain covers, skimmer necks, light niches, etc? mans have you checked and double...

Most effective way to have some peace and quiet

I inherited my original single speed pump, so no one is to blame.... but I’d think that given the option where you could tell someone, you can get this Whisperflo, or for $700 more you can get a pump that is going to be super quiet and save you $1+ a day on electric, no one would pick the whisperflo

    Need help balancing

The documentation that came with my Pentair heater lists that it needs 200 CH. I target 225 for warranty purposes. Essentially I adjust to 225 at the beginning of the season and with splash out, etc it falls to around 200 by the end of the season.

    “Effects of adding “ error/omission?

Messing around with PoolMath this morning. 2 lbs of Trichlor in my 13,000 gallon pool will raise FC by 17 and CYA by 10. It will drop my pH by .9 and add some salt. Won’t the acid added in the Trichlor also drop my TA? PoolMath seems to omit this from the effects of adding section. Omitted from...

How does your deck finish around the pool?

How does your deck finish around the pool?

It’s becoming apparent to me that the decking choice we made when we built our deck was a mistake. The material we used under our carpeting was advertised as being ok for the application that we were planning to use it for, this is turning out to not be the case. We have a couple soft spots...
