    High FC but still cloudy

We did. I tried again using your priming method and it went much better. Thank you! I am noticing there is hardly any sediment so hopefully we are even closer to completing the SLAM process. Thanks so much!

    High FC but still cloudy

Bought this setup today and tested it. Turned the valve all the way to the right (where skimmer suction was greatest) and plugged one of the skimmers. Suction was strong when the jets were flowing. However, they would cut off and decrease vacuum suction in the process. We didn’t change anything...

    High FC but still cloudy

Turned the handle to the left from center and that shuts both skimmers off. Leaving the handle centered (like original pic), both skimmers have slight suction and turning the handle all the way right, both skimmers have strong suction.

    High FC but still cloudy

Pics of the pump and skimmer. We borrowed my brother in law’s vacuum attachment but would like to get our own if we can get the setup figured out. What do you recommend getting?

    High FC but still cloudy

Thanks for the encouragement! The vacuum attachment we used suctioned to the skimmer however, it did not suction at the vacuum end. We primed the hose by completely submerging it in the pool to fill the line. The pool has 2 skimmers and a filter drain in the deep end. I don’t know if the drain...

    High FC but still cloudy

TA is 140. The dry acid used was Clorox’s pH Down and/or 20 Baume Muriatic Acid. I opted for what we had available or had access to and honestly didn’t know the issues it could cause. During the SLAM process, we never added chlorine due to the increased levels of FC. The pool chlorinator was set...

    High FC but still cloudy

Update: Have been SLAM-ing for a week now. Test, brush, test, repeat. Pump is running 24/7. CYA remained at 30 throughout the week. Very challenging to keep pH at 7.2. Even after pounds of dry acid added, pH liked to sit at 7.5. FC runs anywhere from 18-22. CC is now at zero. The pool is pretty...

    High FC but still cloudy

I completed the OCLT tonight and already see a change (increase) in FC and CC. Will recheck in the morning like advised but am thinking a SLAM is in my future. Looking at the Chlorine/CYA chart, do I need to increase my CYA to 70 then increase FC while lowering the pH? I’m trying to figure out...

Hi! Looking for guidance on getting our pool crystal clear. Checked levels this evening and got the following results: FC 7 CC 0.5 TC 7.5 pH 7.8 TA 100 CYA 20 Calcium hardness 175 Plan to add stabilizer tomorrow and calcium chloride to increase CH. My struggle is that the pool will be fairly...

Done with the pool store...onto home testing!

Ok, finally got the correct kit in and ran all the tests tonight. For background info, we’ve scrubbed the walls twice a day, added chlorine as recommended and gotten rain showers everyday. We’ve ran the pump almost 24/7, it keeps getting hot and cutting off (possibly a question for another...

Done with the pool store...onto home testing!

Thank you. I will look into these test kits and post my results. - - - Updated - - - Thank you! I will get pool school schooled. So far my levels, that I can test in the current kit I have, Free Chlorine is the only one coming back high. I SLAM with bleach so doesn’t that increase FC levels...

Done with the pool store...onto home testing!

Hi, new to the forum and hoping for help! So my husband and I have been trying to get our pool ready for use the beginning of April. Here we are almost June and I feel like we’re close. After realizing how much money we wasted without results from our local pool store, we invested in a...
