    New to forum-copper and ozone

Great theory. Problem is, because my pool also had low ph due to chronic puck addiction, the low ph did nothing (as you mentioned related to green hair or pool staining) lol. Did a great job corroding the heater! Water replacement changes your copper level, thats about it. Testing via a drop...

    New to forum-copper and ozone

My white dog turned green from swimming in my pool so we can take shampoo out of the equation. lol .3-.5 will affect hair and white surfaces on humans, clothing and animals (I experienced this firsthand) over 1ppm can cause staining of pool surfaces. I'm not a fan of copper, ionizers or the...

How best to quickly distribute 12lbs of cyanuric acid POWDER in a self-cleaning pool?

Just curious but when your testing FC and get no reading, are you getting a CC reading?

    Fresh water pool?

There is a thread somewhere on here that shows little difference in the water chemistry when using a sand filter or a cartridge, combined with an SWG. For clarity/fine particle filtration purposes, you might prefer a cartridge, but then again, you might not notice a difference. Lots of folks...

    Is Poolrx for real

Chlorine is better than metals. The problems with copper based systems is they simply aren't sanitary. Read this article: http://www.troublefreepool.com/alternative-sanitizers-and-chemical-free-pools-the-truth-t3025.html

    Is Poolrx for real

I wouldn't recommend or use PoolRX OR Pristine Blue. You don't need these products - they just lead to further problems. BBB and the TFP method is all you need.

CYA above 40 is too high

It was thinking exactly this way  that I ended up with a problematic pool, which eventually caused me to search the internet seeking a solution... I found the Pool Forum and a post about TFP. Here I am. I would never recommend strips much less testing once a week, to anyone.

    Fresh water pool?

I hate to say it but your friend is buying in to the myth that chlorine is bad... and the truth is chlorine just gets a bad rap. All of the problems that can most likely be blamed on poor water chemistry - usually get blamed on chlorine - causing folks to look for "alternatives". That's too...

    Ionizer and ozone

Re: Silver based algaecides You are free to do as you wish and I can't speak for others but I for one certainly didn't intend to make you feel like we were bashing you. Yes, we are passionate about the issue  (as a former Ionizer user who went thru the ringer because of it-its what...

    SCG - 2 years later

Well, I swam in a friends SWG pool - I could tell a difference right away - and I didn't learn till after I got out that it was an SWG, because I commented to her how nice her water was. She said "oh we don't use chlorine its a saltwater pool." I didn't feel like arguing with her that it was...

CYA above 40 is too high

Brad, I've kept my mouth shut thus far, but I'll just say this. You've been on this forum for all of four days and 20 posts, more than half of which have beenEdited for politeness. JasonLion. You've made a lot of assumptions based on Edited for politeness. JasonLion, because I'm fairly certain...

CYA above 40 is too high

Re: Thinking of getting a SWG-Afew questions Brad S, it is highly recommended that CYA levels be kept at 70-80 for SWGs. Please refer to the Water Balance for SWGs article in Pool School.
