Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Well here is the original pool that started this whole thread. Lasted from April 2012 to August 2017. Left it up all year long. I knew this was going to be the last year. Was going to replace the replacement liner after this year due to hail and sun damage from the past 5 years. A lot of the...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

The overlap liners are not meant to hold the outward pressure of the water without wall support from the intex liner. That is why on a usual above ground pool they have walls to support the liner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Good grief!!! That is cold. I don't think putting a patch on the inside on the new liner will do much good. It would have to be between the old liner and the new liner. I think the tape on the inside should be fine as long as you stretched it past the hole a ways so the ends don't push out.

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Did you put anything on the inside and with tape or just put tape on the outside? I can't remember what material I put inside to try and keep it from bulging out but mine did it anyways. Only difference is there is something kinda helping it stay more on the inside but it's hard to tell. It's...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

It looks great from the pictures. When I did mine I put the tarp clips on and had long string on it so I could fasten them loosely. Just enough that the liner would not flop back into the pool (like it did the first time I did it). Then when it was full I snugged them up just enough so there is...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

My personal opinion is a 30 gauge would be an overkill. 25 gauge seems to be more than enough. As long as you have a really good ground cover underneath a 25 if fine.

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Yea I don't think it would work on the ultra frame but would be awesome on the regular type frame. It would make it look pretty cool. As long as the kids don't take them off and play with them. Hahahaha. I would probably still tie the line down just for peace of mind.

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Well here is an update of the original pool that started this thread. It's been 4 years now and still holding water. I have replaced most of the tarp grabbers starting I think after the third year due to them finally weather cracking and breaking. I just bought some and would replace one when...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

I didn't want to take a chance on the drain cutting the new liner so that's why I cut them out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can just use some thick string. That's what I used which I'm the original poster of this and the string is still working fine. You just have to have enough tightness to keep the liner from flapping back over so doesn't take much to secure it. I'm so so glad to see this whole idea has help so...

Do pool covers pay for themselves?

I replace mine once a year unfortunately. I live in Oklahoma and every year always have a bad hail storm when I'm not able to remove the cover. 16mil and the big hail goes right through. Like everyone else says it does help keep the evaporation down. It will raise the water temp a lot in the...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

I used adhesive between the new liner and the rubber gasket. I didn't put any between the liners. I just did it to make sure the liner didn't pull away from the gasket. I don't think it does or will so it might not be needed. I cut my hole the same size as the original hole on the intex liner...

OMG!!!! I am jealous of your pool. That looks so great. The next liner I get is going to have a pattern. If I had known this would have worked and liner last this long I would have done the pattern liner instead of just plain blue. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I think the 21' would be to big. You would have a lot of wrinkles but that's just my guess.

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

You have to empty the pool first. The liner will just float if there is water between the liners .

    Help Replacing Intex Liner

You can type in the search on this forum for "Installing replacement liner intex". I replaced mine with an overlapping liner two years ago and it's still up today. I haven't been on the forum for some time so will update the thread when I get the solar cover off. I thought there were more...

    Air Pillow deflated

I closed my pool in October (first time to leave up all year) and bought a cover and air pillow which was 4' x 18'. Got it all covered and in about two weeks the pillow deflated. I had it tied with string to keep in the middle. When the wind blew the cover would flap alot when the the pillow...

    Difference between Intex SWG's

I cleaned it when i stored it and also went ahead and cleaned it after it did the low salt alarm. I do the same thing by covering up one end but i use diluted muriatic acid and leave the other end open looking up. I plugged both ends once and it almost exploded due to the chemical reaction...

    Difference between Intex SWG's

You know I didn't even think of that. This is the first time I left my pool up through the winter and yesterday I uncovered it and hooked everything up. I plugged the inlet with a rubber plug and had to stick my hand in the water to get it out. Thats when I put the thermometer in to check the...

    Difference between Intex SWG's

My intex SWG (model 54601EG) is showing low salt level. My salt level is good so I am sure its the SWG. I was looking at them online and noticed the model 54605EG. It is setup different than my model. My pool is an 18'x54' intex metal frame. Anyone have experience with the newer model...

Re: Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal f I put under mine two regular tarps and one layer of 5ml plastic (the plastic was just something I already had so just decided to use it). This will only be the second season of it being up so don't have much information on how it is...

Re: anyone in NJ leave thier metal frame pool up in the wint Well I am going to leave my intex pool with 25mil liner inside up all winter too. Been reading up on winterizing and finding a cover also on here. I was thinking about getting a solid cover and also getting a couple of air pillows...

Re: Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal f I took my old cartridge filter and hooked it up up after my swg. So it goes intex sand filter, intex swg, and then cartridge filter. I did take the propeller out of the cartridge filter. I didn't notice any flow loss. The reason I...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Re: Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal f This is my first year to have it up. I had to drain mine when I was first went to fill it up. I didn't have the sides tied down and the wind blew the sides inside the pool letting water get underneath. So I had to drain and start...

Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal frame

Re: Installing replacement liner inside of Intex 18' metal f I used my sand filter pump and the vacuum head to drain mine. Just set the pump on waste and the vacuum head on the bottom of pool. It drained mine all the way down leaving just some spots. I then used my wet/dry vac to get the rest.
