Austin, TX - Above Ground Salt Water Pool in Canyon - Construction Started 09/30/19

Getting so close to the finish line. I can't tell you how awesome it was to enjoy a cold one while watching TV last night from the bar and then from my floating sling. I've got small thinks left and my frameless shower door is coming in next week (the pre-fab was too narrow, another costly...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Update: I'll be doing less frequent updates, but I'm still logging. We had some real good rain and it only hit 82 yesterday. Now the pool is getting too cold, so I'm turning off the fountain and not doing night running. It'll be 91-92 today and some clouds but quite a bit of sun. Humidity is...

I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. The electricians came by today to wire me up, no more extension cords. I also got my mini-split going, and wow it's amazing and so efficient. I wish I had these in various spots of my home, but the cooling power is incredible and it uses so...

Need to replace concrete near pool

I think the concrete companies just don’t know and are afraid of the liability of their equipment doing something. Also, the liability of debris going into the pool, etc

Feasibility of adding a heater/cooler unit after pool build

Yeah it can be added, I’d prepare more equipment pad space as both heaters and coolers are physically large. You could bring gas over now or later.

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Only hit 86 yesterday despite warm and humid weather. Our overnight low wasn't great last night, it'll go down to low/mid 70s again and weather will be lower 90s for the next week, so I imagine I'll be able to hold at 86'ish. Date: Air Temp High Air Temp Low Air Temp Diff Pumps Fountains...

Thanks for the note. Funny you noticed the lack of flange, I never gave it two thoughts, but I had a remodel of an interior bathroom once and they had it in there and stuffed it with paper, but by time the tiling guys were done, the paper was a wreck and all sorts of debris had gone down the...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Yes, this is an incredible point. The air to water differential has more to do with it than anything. When the air becomes cooler than the water, it feels great when in the pool but you get cold VERY quick when out of the pool (if you don't dry off). Considering the average mid/late Summer...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Haha, it's so strange how much goes into this. Regardless, at 86-87 it can actually be chilly once the sun goes down. Another issue, my wife and son where rashguards most days for the SPF protection since we're out there so much. I started wearing one this week to cut back on the sunblock, but...

Making some progress, the plumber is supposed to come by tomorrow to get my water going, gas to the kitchen appliances, auto-fill, toilets/urinal/sink, etc. Earlier this week my bathroom was tiled, my cabana painted, gas grill, side burner and sink were dropped in. I hung string lighting and...

Update: Hit 87F water temp yesterday, ran the system overnight, got it down to 83: Log: 06/17 (Previous Day's Air Temps: 94 high, 72 overnight low), Fountain 8pm-730am (Low Speed) = Water Temp Differential: 87->83 = 4 degree differential 06/16 (Previous Day's Air Temps: 94 high, 76 overnight...

Yes, that is supported by this testing. Additionally, my pool often gets a nice breeze across it, but last night was particularly void of wind, so I think I had multiple things contributing: 1. Lower starting pool temperature (difference between ambient air temp and water temp was only a few...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Update: 06/15 was a loss due to the aforementioned skunk attack. Water temp got to 86F yesterday evening. By nightfall, water temp was down to 85F. We also had a small storm roll through providing some evening cooling. However, it brought significant humidity, and overnight lows were fairly...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Sorry, no update today. Regrettably, I had an incident with a skunk in close range and that has really messed my day up. By time I got to the pool, it was quite warm. I hit 86F water temp yesterday, and it's not 3pm and already back to 86F. It's not as hot today as yesterday, but again not...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Update: Given my wife saying it was too cold last night, I opted to not run anything overnight. When I first turned the pumps on, it reported 82, but after about 30 minutes of morning pump time it fell to 81. I do think I can get an extra degree of cooling if I run overnight versus daytime...

Pentair IntelliCenter - Egg Timers not Working - Am I doing this right?

That’s promising the beta works. Ironically I have a 30M Clean feature group for the same purpose. It doesn’t shut down after 30M though haha.

You can check out my cooling thread, I'm making some progress there! My wife did say it was too cool yesterday evening at 86F water temp, haha.

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Update: I spent a lot of time cleaning the pool up, I'm basically done and can resume normalcy. Last night I ran at very low pump speeds as I wanted the robot to do more work on the bottom, so I had only minor fountain action. Also, last evening we went into the pool, water temp only hit 86 and...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Update: I had a real rough day yesterday. I had a guy tiling my bathroom and then had several loose coping pieces addressed. The latter of which required the team to sand and grind concrete/gunite down to make a smoother area to mortar it back in place. It was a war zone there, plumes of...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Update: It's currently 63F at 7am which is the overnight low. Yesterday, the pool reach a maximum temperature of only 86F. So progress is being made. I was surprised it only got to 86, considering we had 100% sun and still warm weather, only seeing a 2 degree increase was probably a first time...

Pool Cooling Strategies with Tracking - Fountain, Evening, etc.

Yeah in the new mode, I’m still running 4 hours during the day, typically in the afternoon/evening before and during when we swim. My pool is above trees so it stays relatively clean.

Thanks, yes in my second post you can see a bit more pressure. I'm going to shut off a return and add another one of these gismos which should result in an even higher spray. I understand the humidity, but I've yet to see a quorum agreement on whether it's better to run these at peak day with...

Pentair IntelliCenter - Egg Timers not Working - Am I doing this right?

Yeah, that was why I said I'll just wait it out rather than call TS and try to get a beta FW. Glad I'm not losing my mind though.

Well putting it On didn't help, still going on. I'll just wait it out and hope this expensive piece of electronics improves.

Off Ill turn it on. Although there are no schedules running or any other things running.

Pentair IntelliCenter - Egg Timers not Working - Am I doing this right?

Yeah I’ve changed my app to default to local login due to how unreliable the remote login has been the last week. No other programs scheduled during the time. Maybe egg timer doesn’t work on a group.

Pentair IntelliCenter - Egg Timers not Working - Am I doing this right?

Yup, I left a 1-star review on the iOS store, the app hard crashes on any schedule time modification. The JSON error has been appearing daily and when that happens on the app, you can't use the web app. Regardless, when the web app works, I use it exclusively and still have this egg timer issue.
