My water is crystal clear. It was never cloudy, even after the exchange. No algae. So I’m clear to do the overnight chlorine loss test?

Yea, lesson learned lol. Quick question. I shocked to the SLAM level. It says to test and adjust frequently. So say I test and it’s at X amount. Do I adjust (add) by adding to the original SLAM level? Or to the ideal level? Seems if I adjust to original SLAM level, it’s a never ending cycle.....

Note to self. First time using liquid chlorine. Don’t wear a nice shirt. Splash back. Slammed the recommended amount.

Was hoping to get cya to 40 ish. But I’ll take it for sure. It’s also early. After more filtration and combining of new water with old, I think it may change. What’s next step? SLAM? And add calcium? In what order?

On another note, my pool builder installed a Pentair UV sanitizer with my system. Unbeknownst to me, the light has been burnt out for an unknown period of time. It could have never been on from the beginning. It’s getting replaced this week. I also bought a Pool Rx. Assuming both those are...

I bought 20 gallons of liquid chlorine at Home Depot while buying the pump. Is it ok to keep 1 or 2 tabs in my chlorinator to supplement the liquid chlorine? If so, is there a way of telling at what rate my cya will rise based on those tabs?

I just ran the math on how much it’ll cost in water to fill 8,000 gallons. I was shocked to see it’ll be $26.40. Add a utility pump that cost $50 and I wonder why everybody doesn’t do this method when numbers get crazy instead of spending hundreds in chemicals. Or am I missing something?

Correct.....ok let's hope for the best. My understanding is the purpose of this method is to not expose the pebble tec I have to the sun via regular type of drain. My concern is this doesn't work and I end up having to do a normal type of drain and refill, thus wasting a ton of water with this...

I'll turn down the flow overnight. Lastly, an unknown number of that 8280 gallons should be draining the spa. At what point should I stop with the pool and drain the spa? The spa is 8 X 7.5.

Got it, I just started it. If you could double check my math. The pump is draining at 5GPM and the pool is filling at about the same rate (5.2 to be exact). If I want to drain 60% of a 13,800 gallon pool, that'd be 8280 gallons. At 300 gallons per hour, that'd take 27.6 hours. So turn...

Wife isn’t home from Home Depot yet, so I’ll only be able to drain for about 8 hours today. I can’t drain tomorrow. Should I do it another day? Or drain/fill what I can today, note how many gallons it was, then run the pump tomorrow and check levels before draining again Thursday?

got where to put everything. You mentioned salt. Why would I have salt in my pool? It’s a non-salt water pool. That’s a first I’ve heard I should have salt in my pool. also curious how I balance my flow rate as I’d imagine even a 1/3hp pump pumps out significantly more than a garden hose puts in.

I’m officially lost lol. The characteristics of my water is the temp between my fill and my pool is nowhere near over a 20 degree difference. And I have no clue where I’d be filling from. It’s clear as mud. One sentence says “Put the pump in the deep end and fill from the shallow end if your fill water is nearly the same temperature as the pool water...” while the next sentence says “put the fill hose in the skimmer, if you gave one, in the shallow end.” I do have a skimmer, in...

A friend of mine said I could drain from my pump...here’s what he said. Will this work? Ok you can actually use your pool pump, take the drain plug under the filter off and install a 1.5 male hose cuff adaptor, 3$ at home depot, then put your hose and pool cleaner together, hook it up to the...

Yes, the method where I fill half with tap water and half pool water, then double the results. I seemed to lose the dot between 50-60. The dot plays tricks on my eyes. What is kinda of crazy to me is Leslie's being so low a few days prior. I kind of want to go back to Leslie's, but if it's...
