    Pool won’t clear.

Liquid bleach (they insist to call it chlorine) at Leslie's must be a regional thing. I just got a case of 4 gallons from mine yesterday. $12+tax for 10-12%.

    Low speed prime

I just upgraded from single-speed to 1HP 2-speed Hayward SP15922S (Powerflow Matrix). My initial restriction was that I wanted to stay at 115V. Besides that, your base size will determine what will seamlessly replace your existing pump.

    Low speed prime

The pump for your AGP should maintain prime when off if the equipment pad is below the water level. Does your current pump maintain prime? When I 1st installed my 2-speed, low didn't remove all the air, but the water flow was low enough that the pump itself wasn't struggling for more water...

    Pentair Superflo VS Dead

I have no experience with the pump. However, you may want to check the extended warranty terms of the credit or debit bard you used to purchase it a year ago. Many will double the warranty.

    Skimmer Weir

I'm in the same boat. I'll be interested in hearing what you come up with. Maybe caulk or super glue the piece to the top so when it does fail it doesn't leave a larger hole in it's place.

Is it ok to put DE in a cartridge filter system?

I missed the significance of using a sock for my previous additions. I poured right into the skimmer knowing that it would slowly dissolve while being stuck in the cartridge filter. What I missed is the acidic nature of it - hopefully I haven't damaged the heating element with my prior mistakes.

    New pump questions

I finally replaced my single-speed 1.5HP pump (with possible bad bearings - REALLY loud) with a 1HP dual speed pump (Hayward SP15922S). 1st off, I am amazed at the noise reduction even on high speed. Several questions: I leave the solar cover on most of the time when not in use, so skimming...

Vacuum head sticks to the pool bottom while cleaning,

When mine started doing this, it was because the bristles on the vacuum head were worn short on at least one side. Replacing the vacuum head solved the problem.

    Weir operation

I only run my pump for 1-2 hours a day - enough to thoroughly mix my daily addition of bleach. The problem (weir door opening towards inside of pool) occurs only when the pump is turned off. Right now, the water level is less than half way in the skimmer opening. At this height, I sometimes...

    Weir operation

Thanks. I now see that I only excluded the right side of the top of the door. I don't recall if there is anything there that should keep it from rotating towards the pool. I will probably just add some hot glue to the top to create enough of an obstacle.

    Weir operation

Attached are several pictures of my weir. At the current water level, it is usually towards the outside of the pool when the water is relatively calm. When people are in with the pump off, it moves freely in either direction. The weir is held in place with just the 2 points near the bottom. It...

    Weir operation

Maybe I don't fully understand the normal operation of the weir in my AGP's skimmer. It pivots along a single axis at the bottom. If water is a little too high, it freely floats towards the skimmer or pool with the pump off (thus releasing all the hard-earned skimmed junk). Are there different...

Pump run times and speeds.... am I running it way too much?

Wow. I didn't realize how cheap electric is here in Chicagoland area. ComEd currently charges ~7.2 cents per kWhr fixed rate. I'm currently on their hourly pricing program, so I can use off-hours for ~4-5 cents per kWhr. At peak times (hourly program), it typically goes as high as 15-20 cents...

Do I need a new cartridge filter

I discharged to waste, but the pump noise was largely unchanged. I have bought a new cartridge filter (Pleatco from Amazon - thanks Texas Squad) and will replace it when my pressure increases. I don't yet have a picture of the cartridge cover, so I'll post that for any input before I replace the...

Do I need a new cartridge filter

I finally opened my pool after a vacation. I was worried that it would be green because of several weeks of hot temperatures. What I wasn't expecting was the excessive noise my pump is making. A little background. This is the 4th year for my pool. I usually clean the cartridge filter with a...

    Intermatic P1131 Cord Length

OK. Now I noticed that this timer is good for 20A, or 1HP. I have a 2HP (* possibly 0.75 SPF) pump. Does HP really matter for something like this?

    Intermatic P1131 Cord Length

Approximately how long is the twist-lock cord for the Intermatic P1131? The outlet I now plug my pump into is located at the top of a post. I would like to mount the timer below the outlet if the cord can reach from the bottom of the timer to the plug above it. Nevermind. Intermatic website...

    Replace pump with 2-speed

Based on reading another thread considering 2-speed vs. variable speed pump, I checked out my electric supplier (ComEd) for rebates. There is a $400 rebate for in-ground pools only. I'm sure there is a reason somewhere, but I immediately focus on the injustice since I have an above ground pool...

    Replace pump with 2-speed

I do know that it is wired for 115V. Does a different size impeller imply that they may not mate together, or something else? Also, does anyone know what the R represents in the frame R48Y?

    Replace pump with 2-speed

I have a pump with labels Hayward SW15851X20TL and AO Smith Century 1081 SP1520Z1ESC. I want to investigate replacing the pump motor with a 2-stage pump, but don't know how to research what is compatible. Any guidance, suggestions, or questions are welcome.
