    Vinyl liner Pool brush

I heard good reviews of the wall whale brush but not bought one yet. I pick up the regular brush for vinyl from Lowes when I need one........still have my eyes on a wall whale :)

Feeling slight electrical current in pool...bonding seems intact. Thoughts?

h20gang1 Can you agree that if the concrete decking were properly tied into the bonding loop with rebar then the decking and water would be equiponential and one would not then feel any electrical current?

Feeling slight electrical current in pool...bonding seems intact. Thoughts?

^^^^^ this. Testing this out will tell you whether it is a bonding issue or not.

Feeling slight electrical current in pool...bonding seems intact. Thoughts?

Rawb I suspect your concrete isn't bonded correctly. Do the test danpik suggested with wire to create a bond (for testing only as of course you can't keep it that way). If the shocking goes away with that temporary bond between the water and cement then you know it isn't bonded properly--even...

    Husband has shingles

I wouldn't think it could in a properly chlorinated pool. Proper chlorination is needed to kill bacteria and viruses. I can't remember if shingles is spread by contact or not--I'd think that could be a risk if it is spread by contact, you probably be more likely to make contact playing in a pool.

    Tent caterpillar infestation

If I were in your shoes, I'd try using garden grade (not pool filter kind) diatomaceous earth (DE) as a barrier on the ground as a barrier around the pool deck. This would help unless they are falling in off an overhanging tree? DE is a good natural barrier for many crawling insects but it also...

Nail Stains on the Bottom of the Pool

Try rubbing vitamine C (ascorbic acid) on it. Crush vitamine C tablet in a sock and see if that helps lift it.

    Lost sock

:o My husband did that once. Put the sock in the skimmer while emptying the skimmer basket. He was surprised the sock wasn't there when he turned back around?? Showed up a few seconds later in the pump basket.

    12 volt led pool options?

While I don't know what's available for replacement for your bulb, I'd try shopping online at they have a large variety of pool supplies as well as how to videos.

    Normal for vinyl to fade?

That's a really hard to answer per "normal" as fading can certainly occurs more rapidly in an improperly chlorinated pool and you don't know how it was taken care of (actual chemical levels) before you took over. Over time a liner is going to fade. It just will sun, chlorine, etc all contribute...

    Light out, help?

^^^^make those checks as jimrahbe says. But if you DO need to change typically isn't as scary as first imagined. I know this because I've been there. I was clueless. But now I have done it and am confidant in the process..

    Light out, help?

I would say yes it's possible it is burnt out. We had to replace one last year and build was 2011. 5 years. We also don't use them much. Actually.....I think it had been out since 2015. It shouldn't be difficult to replace.

Need advice on installing pool shade

Hi there:) Welcome to TFP I'm not sure your question here is clear. Do you need help with actual installation questions? Or are you looking for feedback on ideas of where to place a shade? What kind of shade?

Can i install a fountain on my return?

I use a fountain spray of sorts for the same purpose. I have a 1 1/2 " return that I screw into. But I'm the queen of tinkering with building my own out of PVC. I will say when I have the spray turned up high buy closing other return valves, the spray seems to deter horse flies that we have a...

Vinyl liner getting frequent holes where sun concentrates

I've never heard of this either. But.....on the water concern, many local municipalities will give you a break on cost for filling a pool if you contact them.

    Removing Rust and Other Stains

A vitamin c tablet rubbed on a metal stain should fade a metal stain. If it doesn't, then it isn't likely metal staining. A chlorine puck rubbed on an organic stain should fade an organic stain. Try those methods is a good place to start.....and post back with results, questions :)

    Bonding/Grounding Issue

Good to know. We have electrical issues here where nobody takes responsibility. Stray voltage that the power company can measure but can't fix. They tried to blame the phone line. One is DC one isn't. It was epic. But what we learned?......we have stray voltage and that just isn't always fixed...

Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

Again as I said it looks tempting for our climate. Here, I can have the pool open in March, thats generally when air temps will start getting in the 80's.......not guaranteed but kids were in on 3/14 this year and I remember 3/18 a couple of years ago. I have no heat source for the water so...

Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

I looked at the site and priced one for my pool size (very roughly) and I think it looks really interesting. My own immediate thought for my climate was I'd rather spend the money on solar panels than that since we only use the pool recreationally and not therapeutically. What I couldn't get...

    Pressure Gauge questions

I've experience with several gauges including the better glycerine filled gauges. They all seem to last me about a year. My last purchase was a $6 gauge at the local pool store so I bought 2. I do leave the gauges on in winter which may contribute to their short life but bad pressure readings...

    Dead mouse

Been there. The natural advice would be to check your FC and make sure you aren't below target. The instinctive thing I would do?......add a gallon of bleach to my pool......but that's just me. Can you post up test results to confirm you're within range for your CYA?

New Pool. Considering Adding a Solar Heater Myself after Install

Hi and welcome to TFP from another palmetto state resident  I'm SE of Columbia between cola and Sumter. I think you could extend your season with solar panels but how long, I can't wager a guess because I'm not sure how much they warm the water which would depend on many factors like...

    Cant find light switch

You'll want to turn the breaker off at the pool equipment. Or, you said it's tied in to the same as the house? I'd shut whatever main breaker necessary to cut power to the pool and pool light before messing with it. And yes, the fixtures should be able to come out without draining (mine...

Anywhere to buy a salt test kit locally in San Jose?

For salt.....I have found the Aquacheck strips to function well. I know I've picked them up at Lowes In the pool section. sells them as well. I know we preach no strips but this isn't a color matching strip and generally performs well.

What's the grossest thing you've found in your pool?

Turtles, rats, mice, skinks, lizards, snakes, moles, voles, giant catapillar looking things (this weekend), frogs..........trying to think if I've missed anything. I'll check with hubby. Once the shallow end floor was COVERED with dead worms of some sort.....that was interesting. The rodents...

I don't think so unless it had at some point been entirely disconnected. My light switch is the the small breaker box at the equipment pad.
