    Deep cleaning sand filter

I do have one but I could open them without it since they are new. But I'll probably need it next time I open them.

    Deep cleaning sand filter

Not as nasty as I thought it would be, but still it was very dirty. How long people usually do the cleaning? I did it for a good 20 minutes or so and there was still stuff coming out lol.

    New VS pump without automation?

Check out the pump I have in my signature. It is Jandy flopro VS pump and it comes with the iQPUMP01 controller (might have to order separately) that enables you to control your pump from the phone. And it is Jandy pump so it can work with your automation system if you decide to upgrade it.

Heat Pump Advice - Pump Speed?

I would turn all the return jets toward the bottom. That should mix the water well.

    Deep cleaning sand filter

Dang! That's what I thought. It looks easy enough to add unions but I have never done it. So I am assuming I can't add the unions where the filter connects with the pipes? It doesn't look like it can come out.

    Deep cleaning sand filter

Is there any way I can deep clean this filter without adding unions to all three pipes? It already was installed without unions when we bought the house and I want to deep clean.

    New to Salt Water Pools

Try to recalibrate your salt cell for salt reading. You can look up instructions for aquarite online. I think you have to move it to off and then back to auto and then check the instant salt reading (one with '-').

    Cost to run heater

Since that's a heat pump, it will be most effective when it is warmer outside. I heated my pool in April from 62 to 82. I had a solar blanket and only ran the heat pump 7-8 hours during warm hours (11-7). After that, I only have to run it for about two hours per day to maintain it and it only...

    First time vinyl change

OK, thanks. Their reviews are very good so I might decide to go for it. Do you know if the thickness of the liner matters? I have read several posts stating it doesn't matter much but I just want to make sure.

    First time vinyl change

It's about 18x38. I don't know the brand of the liner yet as this is the quote from a contractor. The price includes full installation, not just the liner.

    First time vinyl change

Hello all, I am looking to change our vinyl liner for the first time and looking for some advice. I got a quote and it was estimated to be around $2850 for 20 mil, $2950 for 27 mil, and $3050 for 30 mil. Does that sound like a reasonable price? I am located in North Georgia.

Heat pump vs Natural Gas heater HELP!

Since you are looking to maintain your pool temp, a heat pump would be better. A gas heater is better if you just like to heat your pool quickly on the weekend or for a party. I have a 140000 BTU Hayward heat pump and I am very happy with it. It heats my 20K pool pretty quick. The heat pumps are...

Bad New Pool Experience - Need Help with Getting Things Properly Setup

What is the cost of electricity in your area? I don't think the pump should be adding $150 a month to your bill even if it was running at full speed. I have a Jandy VS pump and at 2750 rpm, it consumes 630 W (it tells you on the app). So for 9 hours that would be about 5700 W (or 5.7 Kwh) of...

Trying to decide heat pump vs gas heater.

I just had a 140000 btu Hayward heat pump installed two weeks ago for a 20K gallon pool. I live in north Georgia. The temperatures are warm right now so I ran it for five-six hours the first day and after that, I only have to run it for an hour or two. I have a solar cover but I am not using it...

New to pool automation- Advise Please!!

I am looking to add a pool automation system in the future. I currently have a Jandy VS flopro 1.65 THp pump, a Hayward sand filter, a Hayward hp21404t heat pump and a Hayward Aquarite salt generator. I don't know anything about pool automation systems so any tips would be appreciated. Only...

    heat exchange pumps

Heat pumps need warm air to heat your pool. I have a Hayward heat pump in my pool and I run it mostly in the afternoon with the sun shining on it so it can be efficient. I don't how well they would work inside. If you can provide warm air to your storage space, that could work. Maybe you can...

Question about CYA ppm with SWG

I am curious about why the CYA needs to be 70-80 ppm with SWG. Isn't that very high? I keep mine around 40 ppm with free chlorine around 3 ppm and I haven't had any issues with the water.
